1979 Ford big block pickup with Meyer plow (Nederland) $3000

I have a Ford pickup with a Meyer plow that needs a new home.

I'm not going to lie, this is a 30year old truck and it has little quirks like slop in the column shifter and T-case shifter (which started after the 460 was put in so it probably needs a little adjusting), the carb is running a little rich, and I've seen a puff of smoke out of the exhaust every once in a while (NOT enough for people to think we're crop dusting the driveway, but enough for me to notice it once in a while). It also has some dry-rot on the tires but they're still knobby so I had a hard time justifying a new set. The ONE time the truck left me stranded is when the battery died and I stalled it, but after 10 minutes of hand-spinning the alternator, he fired up and took me home.

This plow will move anything. Seriously. Last spring I had mounds of snow over 10 feet high and the kids made a half-pipe/ obstacle course/ bobsled run of death out of them, and our neighbors were constantly amazed at how much snow this truck would move. We get a LOT of snow and wind up here, and this guy has pushed it all. It's been used on my mom's ranch for the last five years or so, but she decided that she needed a flat-bed for summer hay, so she went out and bought another truck. Frankly, I'd rather keep this instead of the new truck, but we all know who the boss is around here, and it isn't me.

We're pretty firm on the price, but if you have an offer you're dying to throw out there (reasonable offer, of course) let me know...

Includes carrier frame and two Thule crossbars ($50.00). If you don't want the crossbars price is $300.00. Can't buy the materials and weld it for that price! Carrier fits over most toppers - great for heavy loads, bikes, plumbing, pipe, kayaks, luggage, etc. New racks like this generally go for $600 plus. I paid $525. Make an offer!

A little rusty, on the luggage rack but nothing a $3.00 can of Rustolium won't solve. This is a tough truck rack - I've stood on top and loaded 2 bikes and 4 kayaks and stood in the luggage rack loading heavy pottery for my business - - I don't know the full capacity, but we had at least 300 lbs. of pottery on top!

I don't have a pickup any more or I wouldn't part with it. Can easily adapt side bars for kayak racks, making it possible to load 6 kayaks, or 2 kayaks and 4-6 bikes. Great for fun hogs, or if you have a small business and want to expand your pickup carrying capacity.
