Live in Case Manager and Caregiver (Boulder)
In the process of adaptation, assimilation, and accommodation are key components that you will be implementing. This job requires a person who is flexible and can adapt to overcome a diversity of problems.
You will be provided with a furnished bedroom with private bath in small house with computer, telephone, cd player, and 36 inch flat screen TV. Aside from rent and utilities being paid for, you will receive a salary once we figure out what the scope of your work will be. The man who you will be helping has ALS. He needs help with domestic duties, cooking, errands, mobility, and you will have to have skills in interpretation of his fragmented speech. You will need to have a strong back and it’s probably good if you are at least 5’8” with some body mass. Padraic finds people who have enough height and weight are better suited to pick him up and assist with moving.
He has helpers who come in seven days a week, from 9:30 am- 1:30 pm. After he rides his trike around downtown, he will usually come back around 4pm. He will need you or someone to make his dinner around 5 or 6 pm, after then he will need a person around in case he has to pee. Most of the night he will watch TV, in his room, when he has to pee he will need to be helped to the bathroom.
Right now, he is in the process of applying for Medicaid and with this he will be able to have more people for you to manage.
This is a rough idea he wants to formulate with a person who wants to live in his front room and be his case manager.
Padraic insists that you are anal because he is an asshole. You must have the ability to listen to a handicapped man simulate speaking and remember that a good memory will be necessary, otherwise he will have to repeat himself over and over and over.
