Seeking Long Lost Friend! (Brisbane/Boondall)

Nearly 15 years ago, circa 1995, a young lady, named Elyse Brandt, from the Brisbane area of Queensland, Australia, was living in the United States of America. She was living with her then husband, at the time, and worked as an Elder Caregiver for my Grandmother, Cornelia (Cora) Tikker in Anaheim, California. She returned to the Brisbane area after her divorce to be with her family again. She and I became friends but lost touch as each of our lives became more complex. I know she had a son and went back to school. There is not much more I can remember. I have since moved to the Sacramento area of California to caregive for my father. I lost my address book and the letters we shared in the move north.

I really would like to reconnect with Elyse. I will be visiting the Tasmania area in October of 2011 and would like to make a further excursion to see her and her son. I believe her maiden name was Reardon and her family lived in the Boondall area. If anyone knows Elyse and can forward this post to her, I would deeply appreciate your help.

Let’s see introduce ourselves. We are “Friendship United Nepal (FUN-Nepal)” volunteer job with meaningful travel experience in Nepal. A non-government and not for profit volunteer organization for Nepal....
We charge our volunteers a nominal amount for raising funds.
Our organization has no external funding and is relying on the volunteer program fees to be able to work and carryout all of our projects.
We are trying very hard to keep our costs down because it realizes volunteers are making a big sacrifice and have saved for a long time to come to Nepal.
BASIC PROGRAM COST
Program costs are in Euros and vary depending on the time periods:

Teachers/Tutors needed in Kenya (Volunteer in Africa)

This volunteer project aims to support Mshimba High School in Coast province, Taita Taveta District, Kenya. The mission of the School is to provide quality education to the students for a better tomorrow and their goal is to make the institution a centre of academic excellence. The School's motto is "Education for Progress".

Mshimba High School was started in 1989 by the community and later on the Government took over. The school is managed by a board of governors. It is a mixed school for boys and girls, with boarding facilities for boys only. There are 4 classes from grade 1 to 4. The school has 140 students in total. The number of staff is 8 teachers and 5 non-teaching staff. The school offers 11 subjects: Math, English, Kiswahili, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, History, Geography, Business Studies and Computer (IT).

Volunteer work: Volunteers' major duties include:
• Teaching the pupils English, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and IT;
• Running extra curriculum activities such as Drama, Theater, Music, environmental activities;• Teaching Sports;
The volunteers will be working from Monday to Saturday, Monday to Friday - 5 hours a day and Saturday - 3 hours.

Special requirements: English, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Physical Education/Sports and Biology teachers are needed. Knowledge and experience in teaching the aforementioned subjects is mandatory. Information Technology (IT) teachers are highly required, but the school has only one computer. This is not sufficient to teach the whole class, but the school is in the process of getting more computers.
We have an open policy and applicants with other ideas to share are also welcome to apply and will be considered.
Volunteers need to contribute/initiate ideas and by that would be promoting the growth of the School. This is an opportunity for the volunteers to work at a community/grassroot level in capacity building and training in self-sustainability.

Duration of the project: The schools in Kenya run from January to April, from May to August and from September to November. The time frame is open.
