Christians using their bible in such a way brings to mind the mentality of the Spanish (Catholic) Crusades of the dark ages. In the name of God they performed horrific barbaric atrocities upon those they came across who were not like them.

opinion on border fence (Brownsville)

I was talking to an older rancher, farmer who feels devastated by the governments decision to put up the fence close to the road blocking him from his crops and preventing him from using the levee to get to his job site, his crops and land. As I was working on my friends ranch I was surprised by an illegal asking permission to cross through my friends property. lols, man he was already more the 3/4's across the property. I explained to him that the land was private and that border patrol agents were constantly patrolling the land. To my amazement he did not even flinch, lols he said thank you and went on his way. Now the young man was polite and I did not feel in any danger after he left, but was surprised to have him sneak up on me without noticing him sooner. If the fence is going to work to keep illegals out, it too is keeping American citizens from their lively hood their crops and land. Now if you figure with the fence being in place and the owner of the land not being able to access it at the old crosses, once the gates are in place farmers/ranchers wont be able to tend to their crops/animals once the gates are closed. The illegals are going to have a feast crossing over and taking crops, livestock at the expense of the locked out Americans. And who is really benefiting from the contracts? I saw men who were working on the fence scrapping the iron posts as if it was only a means to put in hours during Saturday. lols Well would like to hear how you folks feel about it and keeping in mind the perspective that ones opinion who is not affected by it due to them living miles away versus folks being fenced out of their property may differ.

Where do I recycle glass? (Los Fresnos)

I've got a few hundred various-sized glass bottles that I'd like to recycle; we don't get a curbside trash service, so that's not an option, and dumping them at a nearby store would not exactly be a discrete process.

Who in the RGV takes glass for recycling? I know of recycling places in Port Isabel, Brownsville, and Harlingen, but none of them accept glass. I understand that it has pretty much become an unprofitable service in the past decade, but I'd really rather not just toss these things out, if possible.

Anyone have any ideas?
