200 Pulp Dime Novels Street and Smith Ca. 1900 Sinclair, Alger, &More (Williamsville) $10
This sale is for a large lot (nearly 200 books) of pulp fiction or dime novels published by Street & Smith of New York. A sample novel title is "A Cadet's Honor" written by Lieut. Frederick Garrison U.S.A. Lt. Garrison was a pen name for Upton Sinclair, author of "The Jungle", "Oil" (The movie There Will Be Blood" starring Daniel Day Lewis was based on this book) and other famous American novels. Horatio Alger is also represented in the lot.
Here is a blurb from Wikipedia on what was going on in pulp literature in that era. .....There were also career pulp writers, capable of turning out huge amounts of prose on a steady basis, often with the aid of dictation to stenographers, machines or typists. Before he became a novelist, Upton Sinclair was turning out at least 8,000 words per day seven days a week for the pulps, keeping two stenographers fully employed. Pulps would often have their authors use multiple pen names so that they could use multiple stories by the same person in one issue, or use a given author's stories in three or more successive issues, while still appearing to have varied content. One advantage pulps provided to authors was that they paid upon acceptance for material instead of on publication; since a story might be accepted months or even years before publication, to a working writer this was a crucial difference in cash flow.
Basically while many of these authors were trying to write the Great American Novel, they needed to eat and thus the resulting pulp novels. The term "pulp" signifies that these were churned out for 10 or 15 cents on cheap paper stock.
The books are all in generally very nice condition. The pages are tanned, but there are mostly no rips, tears, or other detracting features.
I am interested in selling the entire lot at the suggested price of $10 each. I don't have an exact count because the books are over my uncle's house, but it's close to 200. As an nalternative, if someone is interested in any specific titles or smaller lots that can be identified over the phone, we can negotiate a price.

2610 Book 1 is a General type manual that explains how to operate, setup/Balancing, maintaining, the 70/90 attachment, accessories and other information. It is filled with a lot of detailed information and a very useful piece of reference material if you own one of these machines.
2610 Book 2 is filled will a lot of Schematics/ and troubleshooting flow charts. There is a page filled with microfiche. The microfiche look to be updates/changes to the service manual. Each sheet is loaded with a lot of diagrams and instructions. The first four cards give you a index of all the cards so you can find the information you need quickly. There are a handful of loose pages that are included. I think these where separate reference material for this machine. The only problem is they are stuck together. They may come apart with a little heat possibly? I will leave that up to the new owner.
Next are 2 Kodak 70/90 Disc Film Printing Attachment Service Manuals(Which is used with the 2610) Manuals are in Overall good condition. There are some loose pages and some pages have wear and writing (notes), which is common for a used service manual.
70/90 Book 1 is a Training program course book which I believe was used for Training techs on the equipment in class. It even has tests and answer sheets.
70/90 Book 2 is filled will a lot of Schematics/ and troubleshooting flow charts. There is a page filled with microfiche. The microfiche look to be updates to the service manual. Each is loaded with a lot of diagrams and instructions. This printing attachment was used with the Kodak 2610 Color Printer-Computer Assembly. Please check my other auction for the 2 Service Manuals for the 2610. This is a great piece of history and perfect if you own this equipment and you need to repair your machine. Either way add it to your service manual library today!
