Local 5 Y/O with a big heart wins National Competition (WNY)
A young Buffalo girl, 5 years old and her mom could not afford to buy a halloween costume last halloween. So, she used an old dance costume and her moom took her to the local Dollar Tree to get stuff to add to it. Jaime decided she wanted to fly, so her mom got her some wings. She wanted to be a princess, so her mom got her a crown. Then, going down the aisles, she sees flowers and glitter and wants those too. So, mom bought it, spent 5 dollars. They went home and added the flowers and the glitter on both the costume and the wings and crown.
This year, mom had gotten on her feet, and was able to be one of the Tinkerbell Fairy's. But, while looking at costumes on-line, Jaime's mom found a link that said "design your own costume". She thought it was something where you make up a costume for fun, like the jack o lantern link she found that you could draw faces on the pumpkins. Well, it was a costume where you submit a costume you designed and if you win, Party City will make that costume next season. The costume ended up in first place with over 3,000 votes. 2nd place only got about 1,200 votes. Final scores and top 10 can be seen here... http://promotions.cfapromo.com/dressed/top10.asp
This little girl has also gone on to go through all her stuff, and on her own decided to give away what she has more than one of so another little girl have it. So far, she has given away blankets, dresses, old dance costumes, toys, jackets, a bed, jewelry, clothes, and some of halloween candy to a little kid who couldn't go trick or treating because they were sick. She also takes pride in her blind and deaf Australian Shepard her mom, brother and herself adopted. She also has 2 rescued cats and a hamster that was also a rescue. She wants to rescue more animals, but mom says no more animals. And she wants to volunteer at local animal shelters, but she is too young. She also wants to help take care of the plants at the Botanical Gardens, her favorite place to walk around. She also acts as big sister to her older brother who is autistic and helper with brother to mom who has physical limitations. When she gets older, she wants to give blood like her mommy, be a model and on television and in the movies and build houses for people who need them like Ty on Extreme Makeover.
This little local girl is going to grow up to do amazing things. She will be six this December and has already given so much. People should take in from this little girls big example. Her winning the compeition was on Channel 2 news. Her proud mother recorded it with her camera and posted it in YouTube. Deep dark secrets torture my mind, the peace I seek but never seem to find. Guilt shame remorse are not the cure, to live my life just right and pure. All those things really serve no purpose and do no good, only to learn each day what is to be understood. I can tell of all the wreckage left behind in my life, making no progress does nothing but cause more strife. Burn my hand hot on the stove, don't touch it my instincts have directed and drove. Pain nor hurt I wish to feel no more, don't get that hooch baught at the store. At tranquility I have now arrived, just to find my will to live has been revived.
Time and patience is what I really need, sound advice now I can heed. "They will never make it" is what they had to say, to live and grow is the price we all must pay. Shut the door nor regret is what I've learned, see it as an opportunity rather than feel just burned. Where to go from here? to myself I must now ask, the answer I know is not in a flask. Declared it all before this vow this oath, hard knocks and experience I have found both. Kept busy all day thought about a nip now and then, made it to last call tomorrow I plan to do it again.

Writing a petition (BUFFALO)
I am trying to write a petition to get my friends band playing at a local casino again. They got booted from there because they recorded themselves playing a show ( which is illegal) inside the casino.
Well the casino found out because a band member who had just quit told them and they followed up. The band has been playing at the casino for 4 years 5 times a year, and the guy who told the casino on them was just trying to be a jerk.
They have proved to be worthy of playing there. They just messed up and didn't realize the recording would cause such ruckus. The camera was never pointed off of the stage. Plus the casino can view the tapes and know that they weren't filming anything to help cheat while gambling. It was simply for their fans to see what its like when they play at the casino. We want to show him that he cant stop us!
The reason i am so passionate is because I live in the states( NY ) and they live in Canada. so the only time I get to see my friends is when they play at my local casino. I have been going to see them for 3 years now and don't want to stop. They are a great group of guys.
How do you think the casino will respond if i get the petition singed by 1000 or more people?
Do you think it is reasonable to ask for them back?
Any advice on how to write it and how much detail to go into...
