•Make referrals, when appropriate, and track linkages.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Minimum qualifications: An Associates degree and 1 year of experience delivering program services in a public health, human services-related, or HIV/AIDS specific program or agency; OR 3 years of such experience. At least one year of this experience must have included working closely with young men of color who have sex with men (YMSM). A Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for one additional year of experience.
•Preferred qualifications: Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and issues related to providing prevention/intervention and client services to HIV infected/affected individuals. Prior experience working with sexual minority youth and adults. Should possess knowledge of the culture of young men who have sex with men (YMSM) of color and the factors that place marginalized populations at increased risk for acquiring or transmitting the HIV virus. 8. Inspect and tidy-up living unit before leaving each day (ie. shut off lights and faucets, check bathrooms, etc.)
9. Assist with life skills by ordering or shopping for supplies as needed, ensuring that clothes and linens are laundered daily and repaired when needed, and inventorying and replacing worn clothing at least seasonally.
10. If working overnights, perform security rounds using the Detex Clock. Perform and document bed checks nightly.
11. Report any disturbance or trespass occurring on the grounds to the security person and/or Sheriff’s Department. Maintain a continuous fire security watch in the living unit while on duty.
12. Supervise morning wake-up, escort residents to breakfast, and supervise preparation for school daily.
13. Remain awake and alert at all times to ensure proper supervision and control of children under care.
14. Maintains Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certification provided by the agency.
15. Attends all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. Attends other training and in-services as needed to maintain a level of expertise in the field.

Executive Director- Family Justice Center of Erie County (Buffalo, NY)

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER OF ERIE COUNTY

Every day at the Family Justice Center of Erie County (FJC) these three goals are being met for victims of domestic violence in our community. Through our one-stop, free, wrap-around services, domestic violence victims can meet with a prosecutor, speak to a trained counselor, have injuries documented in our forensic medical unit and arrange for placement in a safe and secure shelter – all in their native language while their children play safely in a supervised waiting room just down the hall.
The Family Justice Center puts an end to the many barriers that victims once faced as they sought help. It is a collaboration of 12 on-site partners, including the Buffalo Police Department, Erie County District Attorney, Neighborhood Legal Services, Crisis Services, Child and Family Services Haven House, Hispanics United of Buffalo, International Institute of Buffalo, Child Advocacy Center, the University of Buffalo Department of Family Medicine, Erie County Department of Probation, and Erie County Department of Social Services. These professionals work together to support victims and their needs across a continuum of care.
The FJC is a place where violence stops, where families heal and where hope is realized.
The FJC is seeking an Executive Director to lead this collaborative organization towards its strategic objectives. The Executive Director is responsible for leading the collaboration of partner agencies to improve the service delivery model for victims. In addition, the position is responsible for the development and administration of the organization, managing staff to achieve the goals of the organization, and works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to sustain the organization.
Specific responsibilities include:
Leading the Collaboration:
• Lead the multi-disciplinary partner collaboration to accomplish strategic objectives
• Build communication structures and processes to ensure open, frequent, and participatory dialog between partners and between partners and FJC Staff/Volunteers
• Manage contractual commitments with partners to ensure optimum service delivery for victims
• Identify and recommend new partners for the collaboration to enhance services for victims
• Actively participates with the national Family Justice Center alliance to bring best practices from other FJCs to Erie County
Organizational Oversight and Leadership:
• In conjunction with the Board of Directors, develop and execute the strategic plan for the Family Justice Center.
• Provide leadership in developing and implementing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff; carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
• Work in conjunction with the Board to implement the strategic plan.
• Communicate with Board, staff, community partners and stakeholders clearly, transparently and in a timely manner on the needs, challenges, accomplishments and goals of the organization; promote effective team work, decision making and program and policy implementation.
• Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations in a timely manner.
• Seek out, on a continual and ongoing basis, a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field of domestic violence.
• Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality individuals and create an environment conducive to high employee morale.
• Provide direct supervision to staff.
• Administer personnel policies, assignment of duties and performance evaluations.
• Oversee the professional development of the organization’s staff.
Board of Directors
• Provide regular, transparent communication to the Board on all aspects of the operation and collaboration with partners.

• Promote active, broad participation by members and volunteers in all areas of the organization’s work.

Development
• Design and execute the annual philanthropic plan with goals and strategies to support the Family Justice Center’s strategic plan.
• Organize and support Board members and volunteers to maximize fund raising potential.
• Oversee procurement, cultivation and recognition of individual and major gifts, foundation grants, and special event functions.
• Develop sound working relationships with community groups and city, county, and state government agencies for fundraising and service provision.

Public Awareness
• Represent the Family Justice Center in a variety of public forums as a passionate and effective spokesperson.
• Work with local media outlets to publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals; provide keynote speeches and the like with local and professional organizations.
• Represent domestic violence member programs’ perspectives and those of the Family Justice Center to other agencies, coalitions, organizations, and the general public.
Budget and Finance
• Work with the Audit Committee and the Board in preparing a budget; be responsible for developing, monitoring and maintaining sound financial practices. Maintain the organization’s business insurance, director’s and officer’s liability insurance and worker’s compensation programs.
• Work with the Audit Committee to keep accurate statistics and database records; assure taxes and work audits are complete; see that all appropriate reports are developed and distributed in a timely fashion.
Public Policy and Advocacy
• Maintain ongoing collaborative relationships with local, statewide and national domestic violence organizations.
• Assist in policy development that supports the safety and well-being of victims of domestic violence, increases offender accountability and ensures that the Family Justice Center may continue to provide quality, appropriate and timely services to women and children in Erie County.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; further education preferred including MSW, MBA, or JD.
• Minimum of five years experience is required working in a not-for-profit environment in a management role, preferably in human services or domestic violence.
• A background in domestic violence or a willingness to learn about the field is desirable; awareness of the domestic violence community, including but not limited to knowledge of proposed and current laws affecting domestic violence victims and perpetrators is ideal.
• Must have knowledge about the Family Justice Center movement and the purpose of this model of service delivery
• The director must be an effective communicator, possessing the interpersonal and collaborative skills needed to build and foster effective relationships with partner agencies to drive the collaboration.
• The director must possess strong, charismatic public-speaking and writing skills and the ability to effectively work with the media.
• A minimum of five years fiscal experience preparing budgets and administering agencies with budgets over $500,000 is required.
• The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to foster and drive a diverse collaboration using participatory decision making practices, effective conflict management skills, and open and participatory communication methods.
• The candidate must have experience in fostering relationships with key individuals in agencies and organizations, including elected officials.
