Contributing Magazine Writers (the core)

Inner Voice Magazine is looking for writers!

We are looking to gather contributing writers for our relaunch issue, set to hit 15,000 businesses and homes in the downtown core for January 2010.

Inner Voice Magazine is dedicated to bringing in-depth news/feature coverage to the people who live, work, and play in the heart of Calgary. We strive to cover emerging trends in city government, local business and inner city art & culture through intelligent and engaging articles.

If you're a writer who understands the importance of deadlines, are familiar with or are willing to learn the Canadian Press Styleguide, flexible on what content you write on, have at least a bit of a background in writing or journalism, and a genuine passion for the magazine industry, we want to hear from you!

We are looking to take on a few writers for permanent staff positions once we have a few issues under our belt. So, while you may only be a contributor for the first bit, it could turn into a long term, paid position if you're a good fit. In the meantime, the references, contacts, masthead space, and experience is pretty useful on your CV.

Drop us a line telling us a bit about yourself, your background, and your writing interests! Writing samples, resumes, or other applicable items would also be appreciated.

Album Cover Casting Call for Hip Hop Artist from LA (Opus on 8th at 12:00pm Sat. Nov 21)

This is an open casting call for models over 18 (or at least look 18-30). It is for a hip hop artist from LA. There will be a full concept shoot done with hair, makeup, wardrobe and stand in before the album cover goes to press. There is potential for futrue work with this artist, including possible music videos. (Which will be shot in LA). Once the concept shoot is approved the artist will fly to Calgary and we will do the final cover. Payment will be in from of photo credit in the album cover sleeve and final post production photos will be given to the model. The theme is as follows : so the hip hop artist is going to be playing a homeless guy...he will be under a very grungy bridge...he will have the typical can our asking for money...the scene will be at night and he will be backlit out of nowhere... the model will be giving him a huge diamond covered watch instead of money...she will have angel wings very very subtly photoshoped in after the shoot (they will be trasnparent almost...look like smoke even).. you will see the profile of her full body, and the front view of the bum (picture you looking at the wall under a bridge with her walking by..) the album name and artist name will be written in grafitti above the artist and also lit up.

We Ask all models to wear no makeup and only pink or clear lip gloss. Please wear hair up (however you want). There will be 4 pictures taken at the casting call.
Please bring a headshot or comp card if you have one and wear something that shows your legs (the model will be earing a dress in shoot)

Soliloquies is a national biannual literary anthology out of Concordia University, whose mandate is to publish the best contemporary creative writing from across Canada. We are currently accepting submissions for issue 12.2.
