Guitarist looking for band (South Calgary)

I am a guitarist and I have been playing for over 2 years. I prefer to play metal music with influences such as Protest the Hero, Lamb of God, The Fall of Troy and Yngwie Malmsteen among others, but I can and am willing to play other styles as well. I have gig worthy gear and already have many riffs I have created, and I have good theory knowledge. We have a dynamic female lead vocalist/ front person from eastern Canada who does impersonations with wigs costumes etc. She does a show that is highly unique in this area. We have a comfortable equipped rehearsal place in a private home N.E. and need someone who is willing to put in rehearsal time (1 or occassionally 2 times per week) and devote themselves to a top quality long term project. Only those that will commit to being a permanent member of a group need apply. We cannot work with those who need to sub out as the act will be too rehearsed and polished to have fill ins. We will not be accepting bookings until this group is ready with the act together so if you're just looking for a quick throw together gig, that's not us.

Bass players! (Calgary area)

Playing the bass is a huge responsibility, it is definitely the coolest role in the band. Too often you see guitarists filling in on the bass, and you can always tell. They may be able to fly all over the fingerboard, but rarely can they lay down a solid groove and be the support the band needs. Bass is the heart and soul of the band, and you need to be on you game to make your band shine.

So I offer you some informative lessons on bass playing, and music in general. I like you to have the basics of music down, so I show you the importance of technique, fingerboard knowledge, groove, and listening. Every student has different needs, and I always evaluate on a case by case basis to get you where you'd like to be in the most expedient manner. My goal is to have you be able to play at an ability where, if you were asked to sit in on a studio session on short notice, you could confidently lay down a clean, supportive bass line on your first take, no matter the style of music.

Pipe Organ Workshop (Irene Besse, Calgary)

Tuesday, November 17th, 7:00 pm. Mr. William Maddox from Toronto leads a workshop on "accompanying at the organ". This is a workshop geared for both pianists, keyboardists, and organists who are called to play music that was not originally written for the organ. It will deal with issues of orchestration, reduction, and other relevant organ topics. You do not need a doctorate to attend. We welcome all music directors, pianists, organists, and keyboardists to attend. This will have a definite bias towards sacred music, but come as you are!

Got several connections of people that wanna help me with my music so I wanna get 1-3 fresh, hot hits produced to show them I'm serious! Wanting to do songs that are primarily Pop/Top 40 mixed with Hip-Hop/R&B influences so someone who likes that kind of music and is experienced in producing it would be best.

looking for musicians for a bruce springsteen tribute band (calgary)

Hello,
I am looking for musicians that aren't overly serious in starting what is intended to be a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band tribute band. Like any tribute band should be, the band will mostly be for fun, playing bar gigs on weekends and stuff like that. I would like to focus on recreating Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Bands live shows between 1978 - 1981 (darkness on the edge of town and the river tours) but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be playing his new stuff as well!
I would like to play guitar as well as sing, so I would need another guitar player or two, a bassist, a drummer, a saxaphone player, a keyboard player, and a organ/accordion player.

Bassist and Drummer needed for serious band

We are 2 like minded, guitarists/songwriters, who are polishing off a number of songs in order to be able to start playing shows around Calgary.
This means that we need a bassist, and a drummer, to round out our band.

We have both been playing music for over 6 years, and have a solid grounding in theory.

Our music draws inspiration from The Killers, The Cribs, Oasis, old Weezer etc. and some heavier music.

We are not interested in metal or metal musicians.

We are both 19 and live in the SW. If you are of a similar age and willing to travel to the SW for regular practices please contact us.

BEATLES TRIBUTE BAND seeking Bass player/vocals and lead/rhythm guitar

We are a duo so far looking to put together a Beatles tribute band, IE. Suits wigs and the whole nine yards. we meet every Sunday and practice from seven till about nine. So far we have guitarist/vocals, and drums/vocals looking for strong bass player familiar with Pauls stuff and can sing, and a lead/rhythm guitariat who can sing. I have a very unique set of pipes and am interested in working with a band with ORIGINAL material.
A jazz or hard rock band even prog rock would do just fine
My background is I have sang in Choir for 6 years, sang in a Black Sabbath cover band for a year, I act so comfort on stage is no problem.
I personally listen to everything under the sun
Jazz, R&B, Classical, Metal, Rock, Trip-hop, Electro........Even a DJ/live band who's looking for a vocalist would be awesome.

Gerry’s musical journey spans over four decades, and has culminated extended musical relationships with legendary artists. His musical career started with fellow schoolmate Stanley Clarke who introduces Gerry as a "Master Drummer" and the "first musician I ever played with!” Gerry along with Stanley crafted the revolutionary School Days recording which continues to inspire drummers and bassists worldwide.

Gerry has also earned the distinction of holding the drum chair for the legendary Stevie Wonder for 14 years, Lionel Ritchie for four and Diana Ross for the last eight years.
