Established in 1961, the Triwood Community Association has the distinction of initiating many Calgary “firsts”. Triwood was the first community to build an arena, it was instrumental in bringing the sport of Ringette to Calgary, and it is home to the city’s first and only senior’s slow pitch league. Our arena facility is used for hockey, figure skating, ringette in the winter and for lacrosse and roller hockey in the summer. The community centre is also home to many programs including Scouts, the Mountainview Lions Club, seniors groups, a youth group and an after school program. Special events, such as a dinner theatre series and a very successful Stampede breakfast are also common Triwood attractions. The hall facilities include full service catering and are very popular for weddings, meetings and events of all sizes.

In keeping with our legacy of success, we are currently seeking an Executive Director who can lead with enthusiasm, energy, great ideas and plenty of community spirit to join the Triwood family.

Reporting to the President, the Executive Director is responsible for the operations of the Community Association and to implement initiatives of the Board. The duties include (but are not limited to):

• Managing a small team of experienced of qualified arena and facility staff.
• Maintaining the operations of the facility including facility rentals, catering, and property maintenance.
• Monthly reporting of initiatives and operations to the Board of Directors.
• Interacting with the public and community members in a professional and courteous manner.
• Oversee program registration and volunteer system.
• Management of finances including day-to-day requirements, reporting, controls, funding applications and budgets.
• Leading the marketing and promotional activities.
• Envisioning and planning of new revenue generating opportunities.

Domestic Court Caseworker (Calgary)

Domestic Court Caseworker

The HomeFront Domestic Court Caseworker (DCCW) is responsible for contributing to the reduction of domestic violence in Calgary through the provision of support to victims from the time the DCCW receives the police report until the case is resolved at trial. This position reports directly to the Court Team Coordinator.

Given all appropriate qualifications, priority candidates for this posting will compliment HomeFront’s diversity in the workplace, and potentially hold two or more language proficiencies.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Contacting victims in a timely manner
• Developing an understanding of risk with the victim
• Following up with and updating victims regarding the progress in their court case
• Regular case management
• Speaking out in court
• Cultivating cohesive work plans
• Paper and electronic file management
• Other duties as required

Relationships: (internal/external)

• Liaising with other agencies, as required
• Public presentations to promote HomeFront as requested

Decision Making/Complexity:

• Formulating safety plans
• Making and supporting appropriate referrals for victims of domestic violence

Team Work or Leadership:

• Working effectively and managing professionally in the judicial system with team.
• Relating the victim’s and caseworker’s recommendations to fellow court team members.

Competencies: (knowledge, skills, abilities)

• Knowledge regarding community support systems, resources and the Justice System a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment; professional demeanor
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Basic data entry skills

Education/Experience:

• A degree or diploma with related experience in social services (or a related field)
• At least two years experience working in the field of domestic violence
• Experience working with law enforcement, child welfare and/or the justice systems and in short-term crisis intervention situations preferred
• Second language and/or experience working with diverse and multi-cultural communities considered an asset.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours), with employee and employer paid benefits including an RRSP match program. Employment is contingent on Calgary Police Service security clearance, and salary commensurate to education and experience.

Job Description: Paid Kettle Attendant

Position Summary:
The Kettle Attendant is a short term, on-call position with The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign. This position is responsible for supervising Christmas Kettles at various locations in and around Calgary.

Reporting to: Area Team Leader

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise the Kettle at a predetermined public location.
• Greet passersby, hand out candy canes and thank donors.
• Provide information and answer questions about The Salvation Army.

Qualifications:
• You have a friendly, flexible and easy-going personality.
• Comfortable speaking with members of the community.
• Support the mission of The Salvation Army in demeanor, word and deed.

Terms of Employment:
• Must be able to work on-call November 19th through to December 24th, 2009 (Kettle Attendants on average about 10 shifts per season).
• When volunteers are not available you can be called on a few days, or even a few hours, before a specific shift is set to start.
• Hourly wage of $8.80.

Dress and Decorum
• Professional attire is necessary at all times.

The Evergreen Internship Position

Description: Assist in the production of Evergreen's educational and environmental musical shows which tour Alberta schools. Work closely with the Evergreen team to assist with the day-to-day aspects of theatre production. Assist in the maintenance of Evergreen Community Studios spaces. Learn about and assist with fund development and grant writing. Practice environmental stewardship and conservation behaviours in work and personal life. Act as a representative of Evergreen Theatre at all times.
Special Requirements: This position requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record as well as a valid criminal records check.
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12 Completed
Strong Communication Skills
Some background in theatre
Interest in the business aspects of theatre production
Proficient in Oral and Written English Language Skills
