Scusset Beach Friends Group (Scusset Beach State Reservation)

We are announcing the next meeting of the Friends of Scusset Beach on November 29th, 2009, at 1 PM at the Nature Center at Scusset Beach State Reservation: 140 Scusset Beach Rd., Sagamore Beach, MA 02562. We hope all who are interested will attend.

What is a Friends Group?
Friends groups are organizations dedicated to supporting specific DCR properties through volunteer work, fundraising, providing programs & events, and advocacy. Friends groups undertake a variety of activities. These can include work days at the park to help with a project, organizing fund raisers to help purchase much needed equipment or supplies, or serving as an advocate for the park when needed. Friends groups are essential partners in protecting and enhancing DCR's parks. The Friends of Scusset Beach group is specifically interested in Scusset Beach State Reservation.

Apple Seminars, Service, and Sales coming to Provincetown in November (Crown and Anchor)

Core Computers, the only authorized Apple Computers Reseller from Yarmouth to Provincetown will begin offering seminars at the Crown and Anchor beginning November 17th. These seminars are free and open to the public. Details are listed below.

The first seminar will begin at 11am, followed by a one hour break where attendees can optionally order lunch for $10 which will include an entrée, chips, and a drink. Also during this time attendees may ask the Apple Specialist questions, order products, sign up for private lessons, and even check in machines in need of repair.

Following the lunch break will be a second one hour seminar on a different topic.

This seminar is for anyone who is new to the Mac Operating system, PC users who have thought about switching to Mac and want to hear about the benefits, and long time users who just want to brush up on the basics.  

1PM Seminar: iPhoto Overview
Do you love taking photos? We certainly live in a beautiful area so why not capture it? During this seminar, we will show you several things you can do with your photos using only iPhoto which comes with your Mac. From burning a DVD slideshow of your favorite shots with your own music, to creating a photo book or calendar, e-mailing your photos to your friends without having to down convert them, and even how facial recognition software can organize your photos by who is in them.

The Catholic Cancer Support Group at Our Lady of Victory organizes Meeting on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 in Centerville


The Catholic Cancer Support Group at Our Lady of Victory is organizing its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Parish Center in Centerville. The Support Group is faith based but all are welcome: cancer patients, survivors, family and friends. Reservations are not needed.

Each meeting will start with a Mass and anointing of the sick at Our Lady of Victory Church, then it moves over to the Parish Center for a speaker, reflection and social hour. Meetings will take place at Our Lady of Victory at 230 South Main Street, Centerville on every second Tuesday of the month.

The speaker on November 10th is Kathy Budreski. She is an RN and a Certified Pastoral Counselor. Kathy served as a Parish Nurse for 3 years for four Chatham Churches. During these years Kathy began several types of support groups for the people of these Congregations. She now works for Broad Reach Hospice in Chatham (serving the lower Cape) as a Pastoral Counselor. Two years ago, Kathy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and will share a bit about that journey. She will also speak about support groups in general and the fledgling Breast Cancer Support group which she began last year on the lower Cape. Kathy is a warm and caring woman and an engaging speaker.

The Catholic Cancer Support Group at Our Lady of Victory is led by Joseph Gill and is supported by committee members: Fr. Mark Hession, Msgr. John Moore, Dr. William Connolly, Rita Ailinger, Sue Downing, John and Mary Lees, Edward Marshall, Joe Ryan and Lois Wrightson.
