Looking for a roomate for next year

I am currently looking for a roomate for the next school year preferably starting in August. I am an Apt Handyman / Super / Maintenance Tech seeking a place to call home in exchange for my skills near Mount Pleasant. I have over 15 years professional background in rental property maintenance. I have managed apt buildings & served as chief maintenance tech for hotels and commercial buildings. My skills include but are by no means limited to tenant turnovers, complete rental cleanouts, carpentry, painting, remodelling, demolition, electrical and plumbing, lighting, windows, drywall, appliance repairs and bath & kitchen repairs. If a tenant can break or destroy it, I can make it right in a hurry ! I am also a former licensed locksmith and can do all your lock rekeying and changes. Also own two pressure washers.

I would love to find a landlord who perhaps needs help maintaining their rental units, in possible exchange for an available unit for me to live. (Perhaps a barter exchange of 12-16 hours per week work ? if you value my labor at just $10 per hour, that would equal $480-$640 per month of my work in exchange for a place) I am not homeless, just trying to see if their is such a barter arrangement available somewhere in the area. I am currently living out-of-state and seeking to return back home to the Mt. P area after 15 years away, in part to finish a graduate degree at CMU. I could also possibly consider a live-in barter arrangement with a private homeowner who might need help keeping up their property and has some private living quarters to spare. I would like to find a long-term living arrangement of at least a couple years.

As for my housing needs, just any small apt or private living quarters of any type for one person. It doesn't have to be pretty, I can fix up anyplace in a jiffy. However, I do appreciate a quiet atmosphere with no screaming kids or out-of-control pets. When I am not swinging a hammer, I am a writer in my free time. As for personal stats: 48, straight, no kids or baggage in tow, no pets, non-smoker, never any drugs, absolutely spotless background check, CMU Grad. I own a reliable truck transportation and abundant tools for nearly any repair project. My husband and I have lived in multi-unit apartments for the last three years and are now looking for a house to rent so that we can begin transitioning away from apartment living. We are looking for a home that is at least 2 bedrooms with approximately 800 or more square feet of space. We are also looking to rent from someone who has a flexible pet policy, as we have a 1 year old neutered and 4-paw declawed cat. He is up to date on all of his shots, and I can provide both vet records and references from both of my previous landlords to the affect that our cat is not messy or destructive to property. I realize that most pet policies are extremely stringent, but my cat has absolutely no mechanism of ruining any property that we might rent. Ideally, we would like to pay no more than $600 in rent for a house that requires us to pay utilities, however, we would be willing to pay more in rent if utilities were included.
