To my Brothers and Sisters, I greet you with compassion of Christ. My name is Octavia. I am a 19 year old female that has been given a vision by God. This vision is called, "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made." I am an overweight individual that has tried and failed many times with losing weight. I feel making myself accountable by publishing my weight loss on myspace and having a support will not only be beneficial to me but others around. I am calling for a group of people, that are looking to join together and lose weight! Psalms 139:14 (NIV)says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." We were all created to work in the Kingdom of God but our temples must be healthy. Therefore Psalms 139:14 is the theme scripture to this ministry.

This New Jersey-based Motherless Daughters group was formed as an adjunct to the NYC Motherless Daughters group, so that the NJ members can also be part of the bigger entity in NYC, with all it's incredible energy, while attending smaller, more informal events from time to time in New Jersey. We plan to meet wherever is convenient for the majority of members.

As a result of the poll that was posted on this site, we have selected the date: Sunday, December 13 in downtown New Brunswick. It is easy to get to, there is free parking in New Brunswick on Sundays, and the train station is one block away. Chess Cafe (East Brunswick)
Chess is played Tuesday evenings and Thursday evenings at the East Brunswick
library, in the cafe area! I arrive at 7:30 or earlier. The library's
cafe/refreshments area is to the left of the entrance and it has tables. Bring
sets, boards, and clocks.
Chessplayers of all strengths are welcome.
It is not an official Library activity, but I did get an OK for chess-playing
from the library staff.
Children must be supervised by an adult. (It's the law, not my idea!)
I will offer a short chess lesson for beginners starting at 7:30 PM, if we have
beginners.

New Brunswick Bike Library (New Brunswick, NJ)
Hi,
The New Brunswick Bike Library is a tool collective / bicycle lending program run completely by volunteers. Our workshop is a space equipped with a full set of professional bicycle tools and stocked with used frames and parts. We maintain a set of bicycles available to members for short term loans.
The bike library's goal is to get as many people on bikes as possible. We provide an alternative to buying new bicycles and paying for service at retail bike shops. If you don't have a bike, you should first become a member. Then you can adopt a bicycle or a frame from our stock. Our mechanics will teach you how to repair the bicycle or build it from the ground up.
We operate almost entirely using work-trade. If you need an hour of the mechanic's help you pay by coming back and volinteering an hour of your time. Any bike parts you need are handled the same way.

I would like to start a friendly group of folks to get together on planned Sundays to have a Schnauzer or Schnauzer Mix playdate over at Veteran's Park in Mercer County. The Schnauzer(s) you bring can be mini, standard or giant. If you don't have a Schnauzer, but another breed of dog, you're welcome to come!! The only requirements are that your dogs be properly socialized already. Any dogs who have been aggressive in the past to other dogs or are nippy are asked to please refrain from attending.

Chess in East Brunswick (East Brunswick, NJ)
Chess will be played informally Tuesday evening and Thursday evening at the East Brunswick library, in the cafe area! Time is flexible, but I will be arriving about 7:30 PM .The library has a cafe/refreshments area with tables, to the left of the entrance. Bring sets, boards, and clocks.
It is not an official Library activity, but I did get an OK for chess-playing from the library staff.
This is the first meeting, so I am unsure of the strength of the players this will attract. I have a USCF Class B rating.
Children must be supervised by an adult.

Looking to start a non-profit healthcare co-op. (New Jersey)
I was running some numbers on what basic healthcare services would cost if the profit incentive was removed from the system AND overhead was incredibly low. I was pleasantly surprised to find that most preventative care visits can be covered 100% if members of a co-op would simply ban together and pool their premiums, especially in simple interest bearing markets.
Looking to build upon this model and expand to urgent care coverage eventually. Basically, the more members sign up, the cheaper it becomes for everyone... "There IS strength in numbers!"
Don't wait for the public option, it's the greatest idea since Medicare, but it may never come. If you are like me, and don't have any healthcare, and if you are interested in unionizing citizens and preventing the needless deaths of those in your community simply because they couldn't get a colonoscopy or other procedure to catch cancer while it was still young, then please email me, I am very interested to meet with people of the medical community, as well as medical billing and coding specialists.
This CAN work but with only the right people, if you don't like my idea, if you don't like the idea of a public option or competition in healthcare, if you have great health insurance and you know for a fact you will never lose coverage or be denied coverage, or if you just think that you are invincible, then this is NOT for you. For the rest of us, this IS for you!!!

Hi everyone! I am interested in starting a women's support group during the week that will discuss all different kinds of issues that we as women may encounter. I am looking for people who are willing to commit to one hour a week on a Thursday evening. Let me know if your interested and please e-mail back with a list of topics that you are interested in!
I am a group facilitator looking to practice my supportive counseling skills and host a group that will encourage women to talk about their issues and share peer support.
This will take place in my home for one hour a week.

I am looking for a Women's Spirituality Group on the Keyport, NJ area. Other towns such as South Amboy, Aberdeen, Laurence Harbor, Cliffwood, Matawan, Holmdel, Hazlet, etc would be acceptable.
The group that I am interested in would be an exploration of spirituality, reflection, meditation, prayer, etc, that would provide strength and support in this time of uncertainty and change in our world and in our personal lives.
I do not mind if it has some faith or bible based topics, but it should not be preachy, "churchy", or the like.
