It sounds as though you have made a decision, and quit drinking. Yet you still ask for help. I guess you are still afflicted with the so-called disease. Why is that? You quit. I know this is a tricky thing, the battle with alcohol. You, just like me, made alcohol your God for a while. Your problem is real, and I'll spend maybe too much time here, sharing this and that. But I don't think you'll have to pack a lunch.
First, I'll tell you that I never drank alone. It was all about the party. In my case, I quit 3 times, and went back to being a drunk. See, I don't think of myself as an alcoholic. I know that for me, it's a matter of either being a drunk, or not being a drunk. It's a choice. I don't get into the disease routine. Cancer is a disease, AIDS is a disease, etc. I don't consider myself sick. Generally, in AA, people lean on their chosen common disease, and blame their prior horrible behavior on their disease, when in reality, the assholes were assholes before they started drinking, and after they've stopped drinking, they're still assholes. They will never change, until they accept the fact that it was Themselves, not the alcohol, that were irresponsible, cruel, selfish, lazy, and uncaring. The alcohol was a only a tool. It made it easier to be a fool or a prick, and it numbed the guilt.
AA is valuable though, or at least it was for me. But not those big Lead meetings, where everybody applauds and thanks the lead speaker, Thank him for what? And sit around drinking coffee, and blaming their situation on sickness.
It was an obscure Big Book Discussion Group in Vermillion, that helped me the most. In that group, I learned about unfounded fears, and self importance issues, real emotional problems that influence one's behavior. I think, in that group, I could have addressed any other emotional problem, but at the time, only those two were in the forefront.
To me, The Big Book is somewhat like the Christian Bible. I believe in God, and have gotten blessings from my Savior, Jesus Christ. Yet some things cannot be taken literally in the Bible, like The Creation story. The Bible was built on that premise. The very premise of the Big Book is flawed, too. You must first admit that you have a disease, and join the others with that same sickness. I found that I could, and did adhere to the 12 steps, in their order, and became a better person, without the luxury of taking shelter in the disease aspect.
I quit for 4 years, during which time, if I wanted to escape for a minute, I used pot. I had that craving for a drink a long time, but that was only because I wanted to hide from myself, and pretend I was something that I was not. You heard about drinking some courage, I'm sure. After I decided that I was actually a decent guy, I began to love myself.
After I realized that all my drinking buddies were just that, and I knew I had to take care of important business in my life, and TOOK CARE OF IT, there was no time for drinking. And the financial gain and security buzz replaced the alcohol and pot buzz. After becoming a responsible human being, I don't ever want to go back to those old ways. Now I have too much to lose, and the pride of accomplishment feels good.
Today, I drink a little at some functions, and I'll hit a joint now and then, if you bring it. I've had a bottle of Rum in my house for over a year. It's almost half gone now. So it will sit there until I have a another get together. We'll kill it, probably by Christmas. What used to be 1 bottle every day turned into 1/2 a bottle in a year.
It also helps to have a significant other that drinks socially, but is not into drinking, or the bar scene. Their love can be a great influence.
Do you really need help? If you do, forget about the disease aspect. For a minute, just put that out of your mind. Go find a Big Book Discussion Group, and address specific emotional problems, or dilemas that I am sure you have. You will find the answers, and realize that you are not sick. So you were a lush, me too, big deal, that was then. I decided that I didn't want that life anymore.

Ok, here is the real scoop. There is another civlization from another planet which has an uderwater base in Lake Erie, they are stealing water and taking it back to their planet since they have exausted their supply on their home planet. The good news is there is plenty of water here, and they don't take very much. Water to them is what gold is to us so they are controlling the market by only taking small amounts back on each trip.
They are also poaching walleye and yellow pearch, the ODNR blames all sorts of things for the lower numbers, ranging form aquatic invaders to overfishing. Anglers blame commercial fishermen, and everyone thinks Canadian commercial harvests are also to blame. It has been noted that they don't like sheephead, carp, or catfish, and leave them for the the "dark ones".
They are also the reason windmills cannot be installed to generate power on the Great Lakes, they say it will cause problems with wild bird migrations, but the fact is they don't want the aliens crashing into them.
I have also been told that recent salt shortages are also due to their outright theft form the salt mines under the lake. No one has been able to catch them, but I am sure they are the blame.
They are here only to exploit our natural reasources, and very seldom come ashore, they can occasionally be seen waundering around Edgewater Park around dusk, and occasionally solicit sex in the park. What they are actually doing is covertly installing implants, unless you are a gay male like the Joker, Corporal Cumdumpster, or Max you have little to fear, with luck they will someday round them up and take them back to their home planet where they will be kept as pets to be sodomized daily by entire families numbering in the thousands of individuals. I'll bet the Joker will be down there every night now.
Now my final words of advice to you are, stay away from the water from dusk until dawn, and eat lots of jello, they don't like the smell of jello eaters and will leave you alone. Quit talking about them and tryng to film their ships coming and going, they do have spies amoung us and you may disappear if you continue to bring attention to them. Captivity on their planet will probably not be pleasent. I know I would not want to be one of their sex toys.

For years this saying made no sense to me. It wasn't the first drink, I argued, but rather the seventh or tenth drink that got me drunk. I'd been able to control my drinking for a long time, and with a lot of will power I'd been able to limit my drinking to a few glasses. Towards the end though, I'd inevitably have that sixth or seventh or more drink and end up roaring drunk. If only I could regain control, I thought, and when I entered the program, I secretly hoped I'd learn how.
I remember sharing with my sponsor my desire to once again control and enjoy my drinking. He said, "Heck, when I controlled my drinking, I didn't enjoy it, and when I enjoyed it, I couldn't control it." Boy did that make sense. He then told me that for him one drink was too much and a thousand was never enough because once he started, he could no longer stop. And that's when I began to understand.
Today I know very well that if I began drinking again, even one drink, it would soon enough lead to ten, and I'd be drunk. I don't know when I crossed the line into full blown alcoholism, but I did. I now know there is no going back. The good news is that I no longer fantasize about being able to control it again, because I know that it's the first drink that will get will get me drunk.

M’s constantly in and out of love with me. For the last decade we’ve managed to work, in some capacity, because I’ve stayed steady. I’ve been the anchor grounding her craziness in some semblance of stability.
I think that steadiness is irrevocably tangled with my own repression.
This blog has surfaced a lot of feelings of which I wasn’t aware. Feelings that are not warm or fuzzy.
In fact, they’re rather cold and smooth.

I was expecting my posts to be rather lovey-dovey – because that’s who I am: an overly sentimental, wordy, blowhard. I never even considered the possibility that I would write a single unkind word about M. But the more I write the clearer our picture becomes.
I always treat M as though she’s the most important person in the world (because sometimes, to me, she is). But a lot of the time M doesn’t even treat me with the respect or kindness you’d show a stranger. And I’m getting fed up with it.
Our relationship is starting to show signs of change. Pre-blogging fights typically consisted of me sharing my feelings, M making passive aggressive remarks, both sides yelling, and me caving in at the end. Post-blogging fights, while still maintaining all previously mentioned dramatics, now include M wanting to talk about her feelings, M’s seemingly sincere apologies, M caving in, compromises, and even M crying.
In ten years I’ve experienced M’s tears... tops... ten times. In the last two months she’s cried in front of me four times. Not that I’ve been mean or tried to make her cry – she’s simply more open to expressing her feelings about us.
But with M’s feelings you have to cut through a lot of layers. I’m sure, as a reader, you’re becoming away of this.
I think M lies to herself a lot. She manages to talk herself into what she wants to believe. She wraps her lies in logic and reason so that they sound, not only plausible, but factual. And I think she believes her own subconsciously spun falsities – I guess we all do to a degree. In no way do I think she’s purposely being malicious or cruel. I just think she has a deeply tragic defense mechanism that keeps people and feelings at bay.
For some reason she feels the need to justify who she is.
It’s one of the reasons I can’t just leave her.
I think she shares a lot with me and I wouldn’t feel right denying her that outlet.
I also can’t leave because I’m in love with her.
And I think she’s getting better.
I don’t know where the blog is going to take us. At its end I doubt we’ll be strangers or married. Hopefully wherever we find ourselves in-between makes some sense.
I don’t know how to end this one.

Obama was fucked right from the get go. The man was elected on a Tuesday and by the end of the week, his opponents were well organized and hammering away at every word he spoke. Take a long look at the mess that he faced upon taking office and ask yourself, would McCain or for that matter anyone else have faired any better in their first year in office?
I am not a big fan of Obama although I will admit that I did vote for him for a number of reasons. I might vote for him again depending on how things play out over the next three years and depending on who the GOP nominates for POTUS. Nothing that Obama is doing surprises me. He said it during the campaigns and the biggest thing he said he was going to tackle were problems with the health care industry. I will give him credit where it is due. This country is closer than ever in reforming health care. It might not be perfect but it is a far cry better than what exists right now.
Now, I realize that America is a fuck you country. It is rooted in our foundation to clobber the guy standing next to you to get ahead. I know what the usual bullshit is. America is the greatest nation ever (that is open for a serious debate). America gives more to the world than anyone else (almost always due to some financial interest that America has in whoever is recieving the help, forget the altruism). America is a Judeo-Christian nation built on principles of integrity (kind of funny since we came over here and stole the country from Native American cultures and the Mexicans).
I am not some anti-American but I am tired of the bullshit grandstanding and the repetitive political slogans that are rehashed year in and year out by arrogant motherfuckers who think they are right and everyone else is wrong. In the case of health care, I understand that in many people's minds, it is okay to leave over 10% of our citizenry without having the ability to pay for good health care and leaving an even larger percentage of our citizenry as captives of a profit driven insurance industry who only profits by fucking the people over who overpay for their so called coverage. Rationing? Death panels? We have those already. They are called Utilization Committees and Medical Directors who deny coverage to people who are sick and drive them into bankruptcy as a way to pad their bottom lines. To me, this is unacceptable. If it is okay for you, more power to you.
Obama's election to the presidency was a direct result of people seeing the powers that be fuck them over time and again. Big corporations laying people off, sending good paying jobs overseas and paying themselves gigantic salaries. A government who's main social service initiative (Bush's policies) was to privatize social security and hand our retirement over to the same stock swindlers that caused this mess and create a Medicare Part D which was a giveaway to the insurance industry. We could go on all day and those are the reasons why a left leaning liberal president got elected.
The Republicans and their propaganda organizations like Fox News and those lowlifes on AM radio have done a good job stirring up the rabble and have taken full advantage of the reality that the American public has a collective attention span of a three year old. They are actually making people believe that going back to the good old days of Bush and other GOP cocksuckers is the way to right the ship while conveniently ignoring that they are the ones who steered the ship off course in the first place.
Barack Obama is far from perfect and has some problems but he is a far cry better than any of the dirtbags screaming from the right.

Past Presidents did not leave Washington for Christmas vacation until after Christmas.
This was done so that their staff (Secret Service, Air Force One Crew, Limousine transport, Presidential advancing logistics etc.) could be with their families for Christmas.

four false alrams equal dumb owner (cop did his job)
The owner which seems everyone is not talking about had four false alrams.
For all the cop knew it could have been the crooks dog jumping at him.
The owner is at fault as much as a trigger happy cop so the owner needs to own up to it.
If he would have spent the money instead of wasting tax payers money on false alrams the poor dog would be alive today.
