I'm 30 years old (sounds a lot older when you actually type it!) I have been playing guitar for about 20 years..give or take. I'm currently in a country/classic rock band that does primarily cover tunes. That's all fine and good but I'm wanting to expand my horizons a little bit and I've considered starting a band a little more on the creative side. I write songs and sing in addition to playing guitar. If I had to label the genres of influence that I'm into right now, I'd have to say: GOOD (not overly pop)Country, Alternative Country, Southern Rock, Blues and a little Hard Rock for flavor. I'm not wild about a bunch of experemental, intelectual or "out there" stuff. I like to play and write what the masses would enjoy hearing.

At this point I'm most interested in networking with guitarists, bassists, drummers, steel and fiddle players..etc who may want to talk music and see where it goes from there. Age/gender are really not huge factors, if you're roughly within 5 years (over or under) of 30 under, hit me up. Ability to sing and/or write are always a plus. I think a good band with originals around here should have a good mix of cover tunes and originals.

Wanting to start project (Jefferson City)

I am a Jefferson City guitarist looking to start a project. I am a fairly young guy (24), it is not a requirement to play with players of that age but that is important to some people. I am clean (no drugs) and have a career, so I am a stable person. I do work a lot so I might not be able to play out every weekend but, playing out is still a goal. Depending on how good the project gets would determine time devoted to it. My style could vary from Blues, to Classic Rock, to Metal, to Light rock (the light rock and blues is what I prefer at this point). Would like to start a project that would feature piano/organ and some horns, (maybe eventually). I was thinking a John Mayer, Train, Dave Mathews, Splender type sound. I am available for lead/rhythm guitar, writing and back up vocals. Now my lead is not amazing but the music I am wanting to play does not call for it. Hey I'm getting together a project together and am looking for anyone who can spit. The project would be hiphop with some jazz and modern sensibilities (think modern rap synthesizers, etc). Ideally, I'd like the gigs to be about 2/3 written material with the other 1/3 having improv sections with improv lyrics. It really depends on who we can get to rock the mic. drummer looking for a band (columbia)

Hello!

My name's Brendan, I'm 19, and I'm a drummer in Columbia. I've been thinking about getting back into a band for awhile, but haven't acted on the impulse until now.

My style is very malleable, I've played in different environments... from Progressive Metal to Church music to Jazz, and anything in between. I have absolutely no problems holding a beat, but also will give you what I feel is a little more than the average drummer. I'll attach some pictures, but my acoustic set is an 8-piece and I also have a (much less preferred, but still useable) electric kit.

Other things.... Uhmmm... I've done backing vocals while drumming, and also wrote lyrics for a few bands. I've also studied a limited amount of music theory in general. Those services are available, but you could find better out there I'm sure.

Stuff I listen to? Hmm... Almost anything. The more metal it gets, the less interested I am. New Country is pretty dull in my book. Death Metal is gross. What am I into? According to last.fm my top 15 bands are: Porcupine Tree, Rush, Emery, The Beatles, Five for Fighting, King Crimson, Guillemots, Sylvan, Blackfield, REO Speedwagon, Panic at the Disco, Snow Patrol, Styx, The Decemberists and Eric Clapton. For whatever that's worth.

There are a few stipulations though:
I'm enrolled at Mizzou, and school is my focus. I can make practices and can play shows within a reasonable distance on weekends, but if I feel my time is too divided, school comes before the band.
My drumset isn't here. Drumsets are frowned upon in apartments... I'd need somewhere to put it, ie: practice space.
I'm looking to make original music. Covers are okay to play, but only if we're making new stuff too.
I'm not into a 'scene' and not looking to get into one. I'm not emo, or metal or punk or what have you.

As a final thing worth mentioning, I don't like to be bored. I've worked myself to the level where playing patterns like AC/DC just isn't what I'm looking for. Hard Rock is great, but I find most drummers take an overly simplistic approach, and that's not for me. I'm not flashy though, I don't want to give the wrong impression. I'm not out for the glory, but I just don't "feel the music" if I'm playing something a drum machine could.

Versatile musician wants to join band - Lead or rhythm guitar, piano (Jeff City)

music has been a major part of my life since i was 11 years old. now i'm 18, got a full time job (usually daytime hours), and have nothing else to do on the side. i'm a dedicated musician, and am ready to devote time to music. i love playing lead guitar, i can do hard rock, rock, metal, blues, hell even country, funk, neoclassical, you name it (not much of a jazz guy though). i wouldn't even mind playing rhythm, just wanna get out there. i also play piano, i can write melodies to pretty much any genre of music.

i know my musical shit as well, scales, chord progressions, arpeggios, playing in correct key, playing harmonies, transposing, i've got pretty smooth phrasing when it comes to lead, i can improvise if needed.

i have pretty high end gear as well, ranging from a Vox wah, to a Digitech Whammy pedal, and two amazing guitars (Fender Strat and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard), and a solid state fender cyberdeluxe amp. you can pretty much get any tone your heart desires out of this thing, i think it's only like 200 watts or so but it still gets loud as hell!

also, i drive my own car so transportation is not an issue.

I am interested in playing with other musicians, regardless of instrument or preferred style, as long as creativity and/or improvisation are present. I like playing rhythm guitar and currently only have an acoustic; hopefully I'll be functional on the fiddle in not too long, and be able to contribute on the harmonica. Alternative rock/hard rock singer wanted for 2 man acoustic (COMO)

Must be a great singer, dedicated, motivated, fast learner, drug free! (don't care if you smoke pot, just don't be burnt out of your mind, must be able to stay focused at practices and shows). Gigs are already lined up, you must be available on Fridays and one day out of the week for practice until June. Then you will have nightly gigs 4-5 days out of the week where you will be payed well! So starting in June you must be available almost every evening. Already have a place to practice and the other member is experienced and very talented.
