Corpus couple wanting sailboat (in and around corpus)
I've had a lifelong dream of cruising, and my wife recently took the ASA 101 course which she loved, so now we're looking for an inexpensive sailboat we can use to practice and build our skills while we plan and save for cruising. Our ideal boat would be somewhere in the 24-28' range, with some "big boat" amenities like a sink, water tank, head/portapotty, etc... We wouldn't be totally averse to the idea of a trailer sailor, but we would prefer something with more of the kinds of systems (electrical, plumbing, engine, etc) that we'd need to develop skills for. We have a friend who will let us use his dock, so we don't need something that could be hauled out on a trailer.
A perfect boat would be someplace in between a "project boat" and a totally babied and shining dock queen. :) We'd like it to be complete and ready to sail, but it's ok if it needs some serious cleaning and regular maintenance items. Outboard/inboard doesn't really matter, but we'd definitely like an engine. Lastly, we don't have much to spend, although we are saving more towards this goal all the time.
I know this is a tall order, and I certainly don't expect a miracle to fall out of the sky for us, but I thought it was worth a shot... Just in case there is someone who has a boat they love that they can't sail as much as they'd like to anymore, who are more interested in seeing it go to a loving and attentive new owner than in how much cash they can get for it. I have up for sale a gps / fishfinder. I used this on my boat maybe a handfull of times. I do not have the mounting base or the wires or transducer. The transducer broke off the back of my hull and I got upset because I paid 500 dollars for this thing and never used it again. I told my boat mechanic to pull everything off the boat and I was going to sell the unit. I guess he mis understood and threw away the wireing and base for the unit. Im pretty sure I have the antenna still but thats it. The antenna is in my garage somewhere so I will have to search for it but if you pay the full asking price I will search for it or you can hvae it for 175 for the unit alone. This does have built in maps 5 miles inland. Please remember you will need to buy the wiring harness and the base if you want to mount this on top of your dash . Or you could just flush mount it as well and not have to worry about that base. You can add additinoal maps via the SD port.

115hp motor had the lower unit replaced 2 years ago. 5 months ago we replaced the steering arm, motor monts and trim switch. It runs great!
New Bob's jackplate installed 5 months ago.
We had the hull waxed and found no soft spots. We replaced the gauges except the tach which is working, cleaned up the wiring under the console (removed croaker set up and stereo), added cleats, elevated the burn bar and installed new windshield, replaced the running lights, added used trolling motor, replaced all tabs on storage compartments and installed a new quick connect for Garmin 188 Sounder (included).

The wiring has been replaced and still needs to be hooked up at the main panel. All of the electronics are new, purchased in 2004 and have never been used. The current owner took pride in working on this boat but was not able to complete the project. He was a certified Mercury Marine and Harley Davidson mechanic specializing in engine rebuilds with over 45 years experience.
