I. POSITION SUMMARY

Implement and oversee the Summer Youth Program for Adair Village. Provide daily hot meal program and twice weekly activities programs and teen activities, at least, one day a week. Organize, implement, and promote overall program with support from the RARE project manager. Manage the work of staff and volunteers. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Coordinator will perform some or all of the following essential functions depending on assigned area.

1. Develop and implement a wide spectrum of programs and recreational activities for the youth of Adair Village. Publicize the programs and activities.
2. Plan, organize, implement and evaluate recreation programs.
3. Develop and schedule a variety of programs. Coordinate the involvement of various organizations and the use of various facilities belonging to other organizations to deliver program activities.
4. Recruit, train, and coordinate the work of casual staff and volunteers. Ensure adequate staffing for the safety of employees and participants.
5. Ensure appropriate record keeping in accordance with grant regulations or other entitlement programs and ensure compliance with City purchasing policies.
6. Track annual budget in area of responsibility. Inventory and order equipment and supplies. Provide support for contracts, act as liaison to contractors, and process contract payments.
7. Respond to participant complaints and conflicts. Address customer service issues.

III. DECISIONS/PROBLEM SOLVING

This position requires the ability to be able to plan, implement and direct programs that meet the needs of the community, with limited direct supervision. The position also requires the ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of organizations to schedule activities to accommodate unforeseen events. Incumbents must have the ability to effective resolve issues with program participants, staff and parents. Incumbents must possess awareness of community resources and other available activities and programs as related to age groups.

IV. SKILLS

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be dedicated and enthusiastic with the ability and interest to plan, organize activities, and work with youth ages 4 - 18 (some positions may require experience working with children with special needs).
• Ability to work, plan, and implement programs independently.
• First Aid/CPR and Food Handler’s certification, or ability to complete certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve issues, and coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to make decisions in difficult situations, sometimes under pressure.
• Ability to get along well with coworkers and the public, and maintain effective work relationships.
• The ability to maintain a safe environment and handle injuries as necessary.
• The ability to recruit volunteers to assist with the program.
• Ability to use a computer to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Ability to pass a background check and/or criminal history check.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds, sufficient mobility to attend meetings and events at a variety of City locations.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license and driving record that meets the standards set by the State of Oregon and Adair Village.
