Drummer Wanted for Modern-Rock/Rock Band (Northeast El Paso)

Autumn's Best is looking for a drummer willing to play a variety of original music for a variety of different audiences. All the music is original and ranges from anything similar to Dashboard Confessional at the acoustic shows and Taking Back Sunday and Sum 41 at the bigger, livelier shows.

All you need is a flexible practice schedule and pretty much your own equipment. We WILL be taking all the shows and music seriously, so be prepared to practice regularly about two or three times per week. The songwriting is usually pretty quick.

I'll leave a link to the acoustic songs on MySpace so you have an example of what we'll be playing more or less. My faster songs are NOT uploaded to there and I DO ave more than what I post there.

A. The going rate in town seems to be between $20- $30 per half hour. Heads up! Sometimes a bargain is not a bargain. A cut rate lesson can often be a waste of your hard earned money, and perhaps a sign of an inexperienced teacher. An overpriced lesson can be just that, overpriced. What you should consider is the value you are receiving for your money.

We are currently looking for a SINGER. We are called THIMBOR KING OF ARIES. We currently have 5 songs and are in the process of establishing ourselves. We have already had about 5 shows, all pretty successful. We ask that you be able to practice 2 times a week at least, preferably 3 times. You must have your own equipment; we don't discriminate so if you think you can do the job, male or female, then get back at us here, but we do prefer that you be 19 or over. Our influences include Through the Eyes of the Dead, Cannibal Corpse, Conducting from the Grave, Decrepit Birth, BTBAM, Down, Behemoth, Godless Crusade, The Black Dahlia Murder, Within the Ruins and After the Burial (AND MANY MANY MORE). We don't want to replicate these bands, rather, this is just what we currently listen to and to give you a sense of how heavy we want to be. We are open to introducing other styles, experimenting and mixing things up. Note it is a metal band though. PLEASE! ONLY SERIOUS PEOPLE! Female Singer Wanted for Original Rock/Pop Band (Central)

We are an original rock/pop band in search of a female singer who is ready to rock out. We have our own fully equipped rehearsal/recording studio space that is extremely comfortable, spacious, and just a really cool place to hangout in plus two of the band members are CERTIFIED audio engineers.

Currently, we have about 10 original songs, some with lyrics and melodies already written but we need a singer to complete the band. Old-Time Jam, March 5 (Cruces)

Area Old-Time musicians are organizing a monthly jam session to take place in Las Cruces, NM, on the first Friday of each month.

This session will focus on old-time fiddle tunes and welcomes fiddlers, guitar pickers, banjo pickers, mandolinists, upright-bassists, etc., to participate. Sessions will be held at Milagro Coffee y Espresso at 1733 East University Avenue from 7 'til 9 PM, with our FIRST SESSION to take place on March 5, 2010.

Beginners, fear not! The first half hour of the session will be a "slow jam" phase that will allow up-and-coming OT musicians to participate with the whole group. The second half hour will up-the-pace somewhat, and at 8 o'clock we should be thoroughly coffeed-up and ready to play at full dance tempo.

Also, please be aware that this is not a bluegrass session, not a classic country session, and not an Irish session! (Many of us certainly enjoy those genres, but this session is intended to focus on old dance tunes led by the fiddle.) Acoustic instruments only, please.

Seeking acoustic bass player

We are looking to assemble a viable "Old-Time" group and would like to include a bass player.

Currently, there are three of us:

-- 1 fiddler and cellist
-- 1 fiddler and clawhammer-banjo player
-- 1 guitar player who is also a fiddler and can play mandolin

The repertoire centers around old fiddle tunes and '20s-'40s stringband music. Most of the music is I-IV-V stuff in G, D, and A, though some is a bit more complicated. If you're also any sort of vocalist (lead, backup, whatever!) with an interest in this sort of music, that'd be wonderful! We'd happily work on songs you'd like to add to the list.

We've been playing in the region for a while now in various configurations and have several contacts for gigs. These will likely be set dances (contra dance, square dance, etc.), restaurant/coffee-shop gigs, and private parties.

(And if you're a bassist without a bass, we also have a lead on a good instrument at a great price!)
