Camp Harlow in Eugene is looking for a few good horses to fill our their summer string!
Camp Harlow is a ministry of First Baptist Church in Eugene. Our horse program provides beginning lessons for community kids and short trail rides for Harlow's weekly campers. The lessons are all low-concussion, walk-trot arena work that focus on safety, good horsemanship, and effective riding techniques. Our trail rides take campers on short trips through water, down a small hill, and near the McKenzie River. In return for their faithful work, our summer horses are spoiled with love and affection from our students, experienced volunteers, and knowledgeable staff.
Due to budget constraints, we are looking to enter into care-leases for the horses. We will provide feed, vet services, and one visit with the farrier for the duration of the summer. Hay choices are orchard, valley grass, and/or alfalfa. We feed Strategy grain, Horse Guard supplements, and/or beet pulp. Any extra supplements need to be provided by the owner and are easily included in the feeding schedule. We have a selection of saddles and pads to fit to the horses if no saddle is provided, but we do ask that each horse come to camp with a bit and bridle they are familiar with.
Leases will begin June 14th and end Labor Day, though we have some flexibility in the dates.
Think you may be able to help us? Of course, our needs expand beyond finding good lesson horses, so any help is greatly appreciated.

5 Year old AQHA Gelding Kids Horse Prospect (Lane County) $1000

Bred, Registered Shetland Ewe Due Mid-Apirl (Monroe) $200
Thunderhead Shetlands has Twist, a former bottle-lamb, for sale. She was bred by an opportunistic ram lamb along with several others. I had some older sheep bred at the same time and I want to concentrate my efforts on them, so Twist has to go. Twist is white with dark spots. She is extremely friendly and loves to eat from you hand. She was bred to a ram lamb out of AI bloodlines from England, so you can expect nice lambs. Great for a 4-H breed animal project, lambs will be too small for 4-H meat. Shetlands are small wool sheep that have an eating style closer to browsing than grazing. They are great in smaller spaces and can be good pets for the whole family. I also have some ram lambs from last year available (2 for meat and 3 for Flock Sires), am selling wool from this year's shearing, and love to have visitors come see the sheep.

1968 Longhorn Saddle (Springfield) $145
This is a Longhorn Saddle that was made in 1968. It has silver embellishments but needs a good cleaning. It is a ¾ QH and a 15 inch seat. It needs a good cleaning but is in good shape. There is a small crack in the leather by the horn which can be seen in one of the photos posted.
