General Maintenance Mechanic (Eugene, OR)

General Statement of Duties
Plans, conducts, and performs complex, skilled facilities maintenance activities, heavy equipment operation, and minor equipment repairs at the Biosolids Management Facility, Biocycle Farm and reuse sites within the Wastewater Division; may include maintenance activities at the wastewater treatment plant, local and regional pump stations as needed.

Experience
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in a specialized area of public works maintenance performing complex skilled maintenance work and extensive heavy equipment operations; skilled maintenance work in the areas of irrigation and grounds keeping, building construction/maintenance, specialized coatings, painting, concrete work, and some lead worker responsibilities with emphasis being put on heavy equipment operation, or combination of all of the above.

License or Certificate
Valid Oregon driver’s license, or ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City’s standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Public Pesticide Applicators License, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date.

Experienced Insulation Installer (Lane County)

General Description of Job:
We are looking for an applicant with experience with blown-in-insulation. Applicant must have a valid drivers license and be insurable with our insurance company. This position is responsible for the driving and operation of the company Blow Truck for blown-in insulation to attics and walls. This position may also be required to install other insulating material to exposed surfaces of pre existing buildings as well as new construction, such as floors, walls, air ducts, and water pipes.

The installation process consists of crawling under houses and in attics to not only install but to prep the area which may include removing the old insulation, and installing dams and baffles.

You must be able to bend, stoop, stand and crawl for long periods of time, work in tight spaces, maneuver on a ladder and be able to use pneumatic tools along with other hand tools.


Working Conditions:

Conditions will vary at each job site. You may encounter cold, damp and wet conditions under houses and very hot conditions in the attics. Conditions will be dusty and dark. You must be comfortable with working in tight spaces, heights, and have good balance.


Knowledge, abilities and skills required to perform job:

Must have general experience in the construction field along with general math skills, organizational skills, and the ability to understand and follow instructions are a must. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, have the ability to bend, stoop, crawl and stand for long periods of time. You need to have good balance and be able to adapt to tight places and heights. Experience with pneumatic tools is a plus. Good driving record is needed to operate any of Marshall’s vehicles; you must be insurable under our policy. Bi-lingual in Spanish would be a big plus.


Equipment used to perform job:

Some of the tools used in this job are; pneumatic tools, box cutter, drill, small hand tools, and ladders.

Other Information:

We are looking for an experienced person for this position, but as with all positions there is a training curve, the qualified canadate will be paid a training wage for a period of 2-6 weeks, depending on their experience and abilities. After training this position is paid by piece rate. This is a Part time to Full time position, depending on business needs. Must be at least 18 years of age.

An essential duty of the position of Technician is to install satellite dishes on the roofs of customers' homes by the use of an extension ladder. The ladders used by DIRECTV have been rated by the American National Standards Institute (ASNI) to hold a maximum total weight (including tool belt and equipment) of 300 lbs. To allow for the weight of equipment an individual weight cannot exceed 250 lbs.
