PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCED LSAT TUTOR/TEACHER: great refs & rates (10 min North of Downtown)

Hi. I am a 29 year old female law school grad whose profession is to privately teach and tutor individuals who want to take the LSAT. I have tutored for over 3 years and before that worked for the two biggest test prep companies as both a tutor and teacher. I tutor students of all ages, language levels, and test levels. I have tutored people who are scoring 161 and just need those few points for that top 10% score. I also help advanced students trying to reach top 2%. I am very successful with these students. I also tutor people from ground zero, who have never even looked at the test or, are just plain struggling with the test and generally don’t know what to do. I also help people who have problems with specific sections or parts of their LSAC application in general and, of course, the dreaded Personal Statement (I have an under-grad in Literature and had to write a thesis to graduate. I have examples of other PS’s I assisted students with,) Considering these reasons, and particularly my 3 years of experience, I feel like I am both a better option than a $2000 classroom, weekend course and that I have become an excellent tutor with many references and happy past students now following his or her legal dreams:

1. GAMES: They are complicated to teach to a group, extremely easy to teach to a student one on one. I have found the best method after researching the top 7 prep companies and deciding on what I thought would be the most easy to learn and the most comfortable to teach. It also takes little time, compared to the other companies. I teach each student with this method and, I have yet to find a student I couldn’t help with games using this particular method.
2. We meet at my house, which has been converted into an office, 10 minutes north of downtown. If I MUST, I may agree to meet at the Houston Public Library and, unfortunately, you will be responsible for paying for parking and travel time, and .54 cents a mile for mileage.
3. I am a major believer in strategy. Depending on the individual, strategy varies wildly from section to section. But the important thing is that I know what to expect and can teach this predictive method to anyone. My personalized strategies for students can raise a score 3 or 4 or even 5 points, without teaching the slightest bit of the course work. Just considering strategy. Staring at this test over and over again for years has allowed me to see the common right and wrong answer types, predictive answer choices, or knowing the pattern of difficulty per section, game, passage, or type of argument. I even know the most common right answer (letter) on the test.
4. I’m cheaper by about 75% of all the test companies. I know quite a bit considering I worked for the two big ones. However, I always make time for my students and always offer lovely letters of recommendation, assist you with the essays that may be on your application, and help you write excellent personal statements (Remember that aforementioned English degree, and examples of statements I’ve written for other students that are available upon request). An incredibly important thing to know is that Law schools want and require students that can write, and your personal statement is all they have to judge this skill or for most, the absence of this skill. I also happily tutor pre-law writing for students who want and need it. I will always work with your schedule: nights, weekends, whatever.
5. Even though I supply all necessary supplies. I do recommend you get a $20 book, or possibly cheaper if it is used, on Amazon. This will allow you can study at home, using the exact same methods we are learning in class.

I do anything for my students. I am extremely invested in their success, and it shows. This is my full time job and I want to and do it right.

Contact me ASAP if you are a December tester and definitely February tester (one should start immediately for this test), a strategy session could raise your score 5 points even in this small amount of time we have left. And for a Dec. student, I could literally start RIGHT NOW and start at the beginning and have you ready by test day if you are interested in the same. I can help you with last minute strategy, specific concepts that you do not quite understand or sections on which you would like a fresh view. I can also teach Games, Args, and RC: “comprehension,” from start to finish. I am very comfortable with my technique and would love to share it. However, I do have my own “trade secrets,” or the different strategies I have developed due to my familiarity with the test that you have unlikely seen. If you choose to learn the basic and BEST methods for each section your score will rise. However, I can also teach you the main and appropriate strategies and you could easily get several points without doing any technical comprehensive work. Just emphasizing and memorizing and working with a strong strategic undertone. It is rather amazing how well that kind of thinking can increase your score. You just have to find that perfect tutor that can offer all of the abovementioned things. I only have a few spots left, so email me now.

December students: to really do your best, start at least 3 months ahead of time; which was a while back. I strongly encourage you to meet with even with the small amount of time left, and even if you are having pretty good success right now, I know I can help you raise your score more than you ever thought possible, no matter what you are scoring. I have plenty of time for me to teach you concept, strategy, and endurance on all of the sections. I can try to do that quickly with any or all December students. And, if you start studying for the February exam now, you’ll have plenty of time to learn strategy and comprehension. I can certainly guarantee improvement, certainly on the games section. In fact, if you are having trouble with the games section and are taking any of the next few tests I can guarantee improvement in that section, if given enough time and an open, eager student. I have been doing this a long time, I am a top 10 law school grad, and I have taught large classes and tutored many students since 2002 and have looked at hundreds of this test, allowing me to see patterns and evidence that certain strategic methods can really increase your score.

Private GMAT Math Tutor (Houston area)

In today's market, gaining admission to any business school is as competitive as ever, and applicants must distinguish themselves with high GMAT scores just to be considered by most admissions committees. I am a Harvard Business School MBA who scored in the top 1% on the GMAT (760) and who has been tutoring the GMAT math section for 6 years. It is essential for any serious student who wants to score well to be confident with all the fundamental concepts that are tested for, and also be comfortable with key test-taking strategies that will allow you to complete the test efficiently and effectively (eg, key formulas with clarity on how and when to apply them, common traps, etc). I tutor with those two goals in mind.

My students use me in a variety of manners. Some students ask me to lead them through an end-to-end GMAT math curriculum meeting once a week over 8-10 weeks, others only have a few weeks to cram and ask me to help them with selected areas that give them the most trouble and where they can realize the biggest gains in a short period of time (these are often Data Sufficiency problems, and certain Number Properties, Algebra, and Word Problems concepts since these are the most heavily tested concepts on the test). Other students fall somewhere in between. It really just depends on the individual’s situation, what score they are looking to achieve, and how often they want to use a tutor vs. other means of preparation.

My rate for private tutoring is $90/hour, assuming students sign up for 10 hours or more up front, or $100/hour for shorter periods. This rate is 50-60% less than what the large GMAT prep companies charge for private tutoring, which can be in excess of $200 per hour with high hour minimums even though their tutors don't have my credentials (I know because I used to work at one of these companies). GMAT tutoring is a considerable investment, but it’s an investment in yourself, and I not only provide great value, but also have a long history of success getting my students to achieve the scores they want. A lot of people pay $2000 or more for a GMAT class, and then end up coming to me because they didn't get their money's worth from the class. Other skimp and find the cheapest tutor they can find before realizing that they get what they paid for. My fee also includes all the materials that you’ll need to prepare for the Math section of the test, including my personal study guides, problem sets focused on each topic that we cover together, and a planned curriculum focused on your trouble areas. You’ll also get plenty of extra time from me outside our regularly scheduled sessions, as I am available to answer questions in between sessions as you are working on problems on your own, so in reality your hourly fee would be a lot less than $90/hour when you factor in the time I spend with you outside our sessions. I am very generous with my time and our work together doesn’t end when our lesson is over. I am available weekdays and weekends, mornings, afternoons and nights, and there's a lot of flexibility from week to week to meet the student's needs.
