TWO BEAUTIFUL ADOLESCENT TURTLES FREE TO GOOD HOME (NEW PALTZ)
Louie and Jeffrey are two beautiful and healthy aquatic red-eared-slider turtles.
I love these turtles but they have outgrown their tank and I can not afford to upgrade.
Louie is just over two years old I'm pretty sure he is male because he is about three and a half inches, which is small for his age.
Jeffrey is larger and is one year old. I'm fairly certain she is female because she is 4.5 inches and females are often much larger.
At full size Louie will probably be eight to ten inches and Jeffrey will be around twelve inches.
They love to bask and eat mini-shrimps while watching old episodes of the teenage mutant-ninja turtles.
They are totally free, all I ask is that you provide evidence that you will care for them properly- they need a large (200 plus gallon tank)
set-up and once Jeffrey (who is female) reaches gestation age in a few years they will need to spend the warm months in a fenced in pond.
(Even if you are not breeding them females need to lay their eggs or it can kill them.)
I don't have a car so I'd prefer if you can come get them or at least meet me halfway.
Thanks, Lis.

Need childcare help? Soclwork gradstudent w/ EXPERIENCE avail 1-2x/wk! (Rockland County area)
Need some extra childcare help once or twice a week?
Maybe your full-time nanny needs a day off. Maybe you're a stay-at-home mom/dad, and you just need some time to yourself to run errands, get to the gym, see friends, but you want to make sure that your child or children are cared for by someone you trust, and someone who they enjoy being around.
Everyone has a unique situation, and whatever your needs are, I would be happy to become a part of your family's childcare team.
I'm a graduate student studying social work at NYU part-time. I have a great deal of experience in childcare, over the past ten years, including babysitting and working at daycamps. I have fantastic references available. I not only have a professional interest in child development (at this time, one of my key interests in child and infant mental health), but I have a true passion for spending time with children and helping them as they learn and grow!
I absolutely love working with children, from infants through young teens, and have experience with all age groups, both boys and girls. I have a very hands-on approach and love to get down on the floor (and sometimes even get messy!) with kids as we play and learn together. Of course, every child is unique and I look forward to hearing about your child(ren)'s specific needs and working with you to meet the needs of your child and family.
I am also able to do light housekeeping and cooking, especially as pertains to childcare. I drive and have my own car (and a clean driving record) and am able to drive your children if necessary.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello everyone,
I am the Shelter Manager at Mid Hudson Animal Aid, a no kill free range cat shelter in Beacon. This Thursday I received a phone call from a woman who had hit a cat with her car and then kept it for three days in her garage without treatment. The cat, who we have named Crash, has two broken legs and a broken jaw. He is in severe shock from being kept in the unheated garage. He is fixable, but it will cost us about $4,000...and another $4,000 of treatment has already been donated by the vet. If you can donate anything at all, even a few dollars, toward his expenses, please call 831-4321. If you have to leave a message, we will return the call ASAP. You can also donate via paypal at www.midhudsonanimalaid.org - The economy has hit us hard, and we could really use the help of the community to save this cat's life. PLEASE HELP US HELP HIM.

Experimental postrock in Nyack?
Want a winter musical project? I’m looking to start a band in Nyack. I have a practice space and some recording gear. I’m 39, self-taught and happily amateurish, not into pretension and def not macho rawk, just loud mathy postrock that spans Times New Viking to Dan Deacon. Drummers, keyboardists, bassists, guitarists, lyricists, laptop tweakers or Tape Op engineer/recording manipulators -- it doesn’t really matter what you play or what experience you have, just a willingness to write and record and experiment and maybe eventually play out, if a venue will have it. No metal, emo, screamo. It’s better if you’re in your 30s or 40s, but still truck the punk aesthetic. Getting together once a week at least would be cool, just to see what we get on tape or can play intentionally twice. Gender does not matter, just a willingness to make some noise.
Musical influences include TNV, Yo La Tengo, Fugazi, Shellac, Bob Dylan, Karate, Bastro, Animal Collective, Black Flag, Withered Hand, No Age, Polvo, Jesus Lizard, Deerhunter, Black Lips, Sunn O))), June of 44, Low, GBV, Wire, Comet Gain, Ponytail, Howlin’ Wolf, Bad Brains, Guitar Wolf, Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Dodos, Thom Yorke even. Maybe Velvet Underground, also, and I guess The Fall and The Clean and The Sea and The Cake.
I have a bunch of mp3s if you wonder what I’ve done. Send me some, too, if you want.

New York Electricity Scam
The citizens of New York State were robbed last year and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is still trying to figure out who did it. It is amazing that they still haven't identified them.
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) manages New York's electricity grid and administers the wholesale electricity market. They filed a complaint with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in July 2008 saying that one or more market participants, between January and July 2008, scheduled inefficient transmission routes around Lake Erie to avoid paying higher transaction fees for congested routes between New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The electricity was still sent over the New York routes anyway. This scheme had the potential to cause an electricity "blackout" by overloading the power transmission grid.
The transaction costs were then passed on to New York state electric customers. This scheme cost New York rate payers up to $400 million.
Read all about it here:

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! - KNITTING & CROCHETING CHEMO CAPS (HUDSON VALLEY AND SURROUNDING AREAS)
If you or anyone you know would be interested in knitting, crocheting or sewing chemo caps for chemotherapy patients, I would be very interested to hear from you.
If you do not have the time to help make the caps but would prefer to donate yarn, I am happy to email you the acceptable list of yarns for making these caps and details of where to mail your donated yarn.
This is a completely NON-PROFIT Group which is 100% volunteer work with ALL items made DONATED to Cancer Treatment Centers.
650,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the US per annum; 240,000 of those are diagnosed with breast cancer per annum. Many, if not most of these patients undergo chemotherapy, with the side effects being, loss of hair. These are staggering numbers!!!
This a great way to volunteer your time and yarn by making chemo hats, as well as scarves and mittens, for patients undergoing chemotherapy. To be able to give just a little something, something to someone, whether it be a child, woman or man is a wonderfully warm gesture on our part and I know the patients so welcome these caps, scarves and mittens, especially this time of year with winter just around the corner.
A lot of commerical hats made today are wool or a wool blend, which can be very discomforting for a chemo patient as they can be scratchy and most hats are made for heads with hair!!
The yarns need to be soft, warm and easy care....either acrylic, cotton, baby yarn, non-scratchy, machine wash and dry. Synthetic fleece is great for sewing chemo caps.
I await to hear back from you if you feel this is something you would be interested in. I will respond back immediately to ALL inquires to discuss further details. THANK YOU in advance!!!!

Cats Will Be Killed - Desperately Need Barns
We've been feeding and caring for a colony for two years. Several of them were born here and have been cared for since they're kittens. The community no longer wants them there and will trap and kill them if they are not relocated or they will not let us on their property to feed them and they will slowly starve to death. Most of them have been neutered/spayed and inoculated. The rest would be done upon relocating. Please don't let these sweet babies die. If you have a barn or something similar where we can relocate these cats (even if you can only take a few of them) PLEASE let me know. We're sick over this and desperately need help. If you can help please call 845-642-3388 as soon as possible. If unavailable please leave a message.

Daniel Rose, hypnotist of 29yrs is open to using his skills as a hypnotist to gain revenue that can be kept 100 percent by the organization. Yes, this is a promotion type situation as their would be publicity for Daniel and a win win situation. Request an email of a video clip to be sent directly to you. Below is further information
Daniel Rose, a 20yr humble and highly effective hypnotherapist for weight/habits/addictions/smoking/anxiety etc.. For the last several years has been doing events at no fee for Relay For Life Cancer Groups, American Lung Asociation and other groups.
If you are familiar with a group in need, realize that Daniel, with the need to promote(not sell) his book,is willing to do a FREE HYPNOSIS SHOW.. to raise funds, door person collecting fees is from the group and our additional efforts to help this group navigate the promotion so as to gain greater door response. Also many, as an activity, run through their list of who needs to stop smoking(a less personal issue) or others possibly needing hypnosis-test taking, nail biting etc... $100 is given to the group for each person that does a one on one program with Daniel and/or a discount can be realized for that specific person. Know many people can benefit from the truly effective work of Daniel, but with more sensative situations of shyness, anxiety, confidence, stress etc.. Info can be emailed with detailed videos and more. Never any pressure is our motto, and with each person considering hypnosis, options that cost nothing are provided as well so that we can come across as offering no fee and fee options.. read on, view videos as well
Happy to offer a commission of $100+ for any referral to http://www.AdvancedCareHypnosis.com .Daniel Rose offers help generally in one single session for things such as weight loss, smoking, habits, phobias, OCD and more. Happy to share more info, video clips, Daniel's latest book THE HYPNOTIC COACH via internet for the non edited version at no fee as well as many referrals.
Simple, We seek a win/win situation. We benefit by the additional client/s that might come in over the course of weeks or months, the person you refer for hypnosis for anxiety, smoking, weight loss, habits, addictions, panic, anxiety, depression etc etc benefits as they are truly dealing with a most caring and effective hypnotist with 20yrs professional experience that generally sees clients just one single time to achieve much/most/all of their desired goals and you personally receive without hassle a $100 commission and a thank you for the referral. Some people just happen to have a few people they know that smoke, where interested in losing weight, seeking alternative ideas rather then medications or long term therapy and it can be as simple as passing our name to them. Possibly mentioning something as simple as you are exploring some opportunities of part time employment with this hypnosis center that appears to really stand out. Others have computer networking/marketing skills that have them reaching the social marketing medias and promoting in this way.
Daniel Rose www.AdvancedCareHypnosis.com practices in a very holistic caring and most effective way. He provides potential clients with all the knowledge to comfortably without pressure understand not just about hypnosis, but more importantly about himself, provides referrals, video clips, doctors and charitable organizations that know of his true effectiveness and potential clients can start out by filling out confidential forms explaining their situation and arrange for a no fee no pressure consultation. Daniel, for various reasons goes out of his way to make the experience a person would have before, during and after to be one that each client can feel they where not just treated with respect, but with the potential for the one single session to be an Epiphany of sorts, an awakening of the fact that change can be as easy as a cut that heals with no additional effort.
My name is Marcus, Daniel had helped me with anxiety and stuttering and in exchange, we had agreed to a part of payment being in the form of promotion which I am doing now by writing this and other advertisements. I can tell you from personal experience that ANYONE seeking health on a troubling issue should at least consider if hypnosis can be right for them, but more importantly if Daniel Rose, a 20yr veteran, author of The Hypnotic Coach, a Speaker, involved with Teaching of Hypnosis and event hypnotist cannot provide a step up from the rest in helping a person reach their goals. With his vast humble experience, most people see him just the one single time providing they are willing to do their advance homework of watching in home videos and filling out forms. This advance work is often the first and second session for many hypnotherapists.
Keep our website in mind for the future, we have many people that may earn a few hundred dollars by referring a few people a year, or doing the same each week by their internet marketing skills. Also, if the referral is for a loved one, friend, family member etc, Daniel would take off $100 that would have been your commission and and a bit more so as to have a track record of positiveness with you from the Get Go. Reach back and let us know if we can be of help to get you started on a fast track or possibly a slower track that works best for you.

About a week ago a very hungry thin orange cat came to my porch looking

2 dogs so I have a house full.

Beautiful Pearl Lutino Cockatiel (Dover Plains, NY)
Sadly, I must part with my beautiful female cockatiel. I have her hatch certificate, she is almost two years old. She is tame, but needs more attention than I can give her. She comes with a cage. There is a rehoming fee of one hundred dollars, which is a fraction of what she is worth. I just want her to go to someone who will love and care for her.

Okay, Where the hell are all the Bassist? (Rock Hill, ny )
Hi Im a female vocalist , I have a band with 3 other dudes, we are all in our mid 20's looking for a bassist who's wants to play music. We dont want anyone who wants to be like everyone else and we dont want anyone who just talks about how awesome they are and they really suck. We already have a few original songs written but it's def. missing something. We are influenced by smashing pumpkins, metallica, incubus, disturbed, coheed and cambria, green day and alot of other bands, the only thing that really matters in this is that we are just influenced we dont want to be them , we want to be us. So if you want to make a band , build one and not become them , let me know. We practice on wednesday nights around 6 ish, Im 25 minutes from middletown , I'm def not that far out in the boonies. I dont do anything with involves screaming, and want to be able to have fun. We would like someone who is probably around our age which is 21 -27ish range who likes to goof off but knows when to be serious. So if you want to try us out let me know ...our next meet will be this tuesday ...... thanks

Do You Have An FeLV Cat That Needs A Companion??
Orangino is a semi-feral cat that lived outside, all alone, for 8 years. We feed him morning and night. He was so lonely and would run to us when we arrived, so happy for the company. When we would leave he would sit and watch us leave with sad little eyes. He sometimes found friendly cats that would come stay with him, which really made him happy, but we would take them away from him and get them a home. We couldn’t stand him being out there any longer. He was so lonely and his winters were horrible. We tried to trap him for two years but he would never go into any of the traps until now. We were so happy we got him and I was going to let him live with me and my cats. I didn’t care if he was semi-feral, I just wanted him to have companions, a home to live in and love. I had him blood tested and very sadly found out he’s FeLV positive. He’s living in a double cage in my garage right now. He’s so very sad and very depressed. He stays curled up and sleeps all day and night. He barely looks at me when I go to feed him. We can’t put him back outside because he might not survive another winter and we can’t risk him infecting other cats. I’m praying that we find a home with an FeLV cat that also needs a companion and that doesn’t care that he’s semi-feral. Please give Orangino a chance to have for the kind of home he deserves for the few years he probably has left. Orangino is neutered, and up-to-date on all his shots. If you can help please call 845-634-0345.
to Middletown, from OC (OC)
I don't get it. Seems to be you're more interested in the fight for the sake of it, then a dialogue. No, I'm not asking for agreement.
So here's my last comment on our discussion.
Ok, this is as clear as I can be:
I did not say you are a homophobe.
I did not say you favor political assassination.
So let's be clear and simple. If the health care bill as presented in the house passes in the Senate, do you think citizens should vote out those who they disagree with, or kill them? Do you think it serves our nation well to suggest killing someone on that basis?
If Obama passes a gun control bill you don't like. Will you support a candidate you do like, run for office, or either support his assassination as a remedy to that bill? ( AGAIN, not saying you said you do, ok?), It's a question on a premise.
Do you think if Congressman Paul were President he'd repeal the law that makes it a crime to threaten the President of the United States?
What do you think should be the appropriate response and by who, for yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre?
I support freedom of internet.
Having said that, if people are suggesting the assassination of another American, I think they should be able to say it, but perhaps there should be some response guided by law.
If someone is advertising children for sale or use in prostitution ( with the common assumption that children are not consensual sex partners), should there be a law against that protecting these children?
Wouldn't we agree it's ok to have laws that address that?
You seem to think I like laws for any old reason. I don't. But till the time comes that we're a more evolved species, I think it's a good idea to have guidelines we should abide by, don't you?
My point is this. Right now there are those on an extreme side as citizens or as members of some religious clergy alluding to the assassination of President Obama as legitimate.
Do I think they should be allowed to speak that? Well yes, but I think that it's not that simple. Surely as free humans we have a right to speak our minds freely. But does that mean anything goes at anytime? Is it a matter individual fighting individual? Do you think there should be any response and what and from who?
The question is whether or not law makes sense and in which instance, and when the people of a nation disagree with the law, what is the appropriate remedy.
How would any moral society exist if we simply lacked societal guide lines? Since you're such a fan of the constitution, you'd realize that the founders wanted freedom and liberty but not anarchy. Are there any existing laws that restricts certain behavior of people, wherein such behavior is considered crime, and as such may not prevent the crime, but at least provides for we as a society to respond to by fine or imprisonment, that you do support?
Let's be absolutely clear. I am NOT suggesting this is you.
I'm asking what your position on this is.
Now if you'd like to have the final word so that we no longer dominate this board with our personal "debate", please do so.'
So you know, I've read your posts, your quotes.
I respectfully disagree with your assumptions and wish you well.
Bird-Goffin Cockatoo (Huguenot, NY)
Female Goffin Cockatoo for adoption. I rescued her 4 years ago from an abusive household. She had almost no feathers at that time, but most have grown back and she continues to do well. She is not a talker (only says "Hi"), but has a pleasing personality and can be handled. She likes me but prefers my husband. She needs to be housed separately and will not do well housed with another bird. References are reqiured for this adoption as well as a small rehoming fee (to be given to our local humane society.)

The current economy is not easy on any of us, and I have noticed way too many people holding off on their very, very basic dental care.
As a dentist I am in the business of preventing problems with teeth not to fix large problems when they arrive. Contrary to many patients' belief a dentist is NOT happy if he can charge large sums of money because of large dental problems. At least I am not. I would rather fix many small problems and keep the patients smiling and save money as well.
You probably have heard about the news on radio, TV and the papers that medical experts estimate huge lingering health crises to happen because people stop –or at least drastically delay basic health care during those bad economical times.
I hope I can help out a bit, by giving you this examination and dental cleaning for $ 39 (regular $ 240) and by forwarding this money to your church or favorite charity.
Please forward this e-mail to any one you feel has neglected his basic health care due to economical difficulties. Your church or charity leaders might also know many parishioners who are in need of such an offer.

Loveable 8 yr old akita/husky mix looking for home (Phoenicia)
I have a very well behaved akita/husky mix who just arrived from the city (she is 8 years old). We have two dogs, and she is very territorial, (only with the dogs), and we cannot keep her. My son took her from someone in the city because they couldn't keep her, he moved and he couldn't keep her, so I took her from him. She has been here for four days and we absolutely love her, but cannot risk the other dogs. She has been tested in every way with humans, and she remains to be loveable with them. She has no shots, but we will donate $200 to whoever takes her to get her immunized. She has also never been fixed, but does not go into heat. She gets along with cats very well.
She will be the perfect dog with somebody who does not have dogs.
If interested, pictures will be sent. Please call 845-688-5779 Sue or Kevin

No, there you go again, putting words in my mouth.
You asked if I supported people CALLING for political assassination
(And I assumed you were speaking of current times)
Not if I support people acting on it.
Now, the off with their heads thing is a necessary free speech issue, not to mention a necessary option to be available to do…
Have you ever opened a history book… ever?
How could anyone think they could make a law against rebellion over bad leaders.
How would you even enforce such a law?
You know when there is debate over such things that we are headed in a very wrong direction.
But the real thing here is the law. to ‘make a law’ is a very permanent thing, it will be around long after your kids’ kids are dust, just try to keep in mind that laws don’t have a ‘life span’, they live on way past the politicians and people that thought them good.
Plus this is in direct conflict with the 1st amendment!!!, I thought you cared about that?
As for the act, yes, if you have some leader that’s bad enough… and I don’t think I need to go into examples here, that it’s not only required for the people to remain safe and free, but a morally right thing to do.
{Lets just Say} you had a leader that had thousands of his own people killed in a way that looked like some other country did it in an effort to push his people to go into a war he wanted for personal economic reasons? Or any other reason for that matter.
If you had a person kill say 10 people you’d call him a crazed lunatic, a homicidal maniac!… (well you’d probably blame the weapon, but lets move on.)
But what if you can point to a person that through a court of law that has through his decisions killed tens of thousands of our fellow Americans…, you want a law protecting them??? Really???, why???
They need to die, I say send them to Texas, they know how to deal with the likes of them!
“the founders, our constitution and liberty would want a law against that“
Answer;
that’s absolutely WRONG, you can‘t get any more wrong then that!!!
You probably won’t spend the time to read any of them,(your lose) but at least read the last two!
“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants“.
Thomas Jefferson
"What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms."
Thomas Jefferson
to James Madison
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government“.
Thomas Jefferson
"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."
George Washington -First President of the United States
"The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them."
Thomas Paine
"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
Richard Henry Lee
American Statesman, 1788
"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"
Patrick Henry
American Patriot
"There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters. "
Noah Webster
American Lexicographer
"What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty.... Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins." (Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment
"...to disarm the people - that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." (George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 380)
"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States" (Noah Webster in `An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution', 1787, a pamphlet aimed at swaying Pennsylvania toward ratification, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at 56(New York, 1888))
"Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state government, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people" (Tench Coxe, Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788)
"The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution."
Thomas Jefferson
Third President of the United States
"The ruling class doesn't care about public safety. Having made it very difficult for States and localities to police themselves, having left ordinary citizens with no choice but to protect themselves as best they can, they now try to take our guns away. In fact they blame us and our guns for crime. This is so wrong that it cannot be an honest mistake."
Malcolm Wallop
former U.S. Sen. (R-WY)
"The tank, the B-52, the fighter-bomber, the state-controlled police and military are the weapons of dictatorship. The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
" `The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the milita, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right." [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)]
"Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort the facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed."
Sara Brady
Chairman, Handgun Control Inc, to Senator Howard Metzenbaum
The National Educator, January 1994, Page 3.
"If you wish the sympathy of the broad masses, you must tell them the crudest and most stupid things."
"This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"
Adolph Hitler
Chancellor, Germany, 1933
Do all but the last two really sound like they opposed killing bad leaders…
They had just come out of a war doing just that very thing… you have really jumped the shark on that one. lol
I know you don’t seem to care how high taxes go for the things you want, but you are in the minority on this, people want to have the rewards for their labors.
Some have fallen for the “no new taxes” line though… man, won’t they be surprised when we have to start paying this debt back, and paying for all this “free” heath insurance lol.
It’s not reasonable to think healthcare costs are too high now, but will be cheaper… or even the same, when you have the government running it, and you have to pay for you… AND someone else. That’s just retarded.
There is nothing patriotic about taking more from your country then you can give to yourself, or asking your government to make this law, it’s quite the opposite.
Our government has pushed these kinds of lies on the people before…NAFTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t fall for it, don’t let what you want to be, cloud your judgment.
This remind me of a monkey trap, do you know what that is?
“Simply allowing threat of assassination as a means of political dissent, without repercussion is not only unAmerican but represents the very core of that which you fear.”
Frankly this sounds like something Hitler would say.
I have never feared the people that call out a repressive government, only socialist lap dogs would fear such a thing, why would I? I have nothing to lose with a smaller government, and everything to gain.
As you can see from the quotes above, it is VERY American to go after bad leaders… what do you think makes them stay good?… the power?
It is our duty to demand honesty from our leaders, and when that honesty is not forthright, and repression is forthcoming, it is most definitely within the constitutional right to go after them. It is the very essence of the second amendment.
Fear the government that fears your gun rights.

The definition of a person that is NOT a patriot;
"Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort the facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed."

Liberal Democrats, fight for public option! (Orange County, NY State)
The Senate is taking up health care reform tomorrow. But some conservative Democratic Senators are still trying to kill the public health insurance option.
Instead of opposing it outright, they're pushing a sneaky proposal called a "trigger" that could delay it indefinitely—by forcing us to wait for the health care crisis to get even worse before the public option becomes available.
And with critical votes starting tomorrow, these senators are ramping up their efforts to insert a trigger into the bill. We've got to send an overwhelming message right away that the trigger is unacceptable, and show the Senate that voters demand a real public option.
So today we're launching a new TV ad opposing the trigger, and we want to amplify it with the voices of hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members. Click here to watch the ad and sign the petition:
http://pol.moveon.org/notrigger/1b.html?id=18017-11739216-L4.Pvyx&t=3
The petition reads: "We can't afford to delay health care reform with a trigger. The Senate must pass legislation with a national public health insurance option that's available immediately."
Thanks to grassroots pressure from progressives across the country, and courageous leadership from a few champions in Congress, we're closer than ever to winning reform with a public option.
Though the Senate legislation has some real problems, it does include a version of the public option. But a handful of conservative Democrats are threatening to join a Republican filibuster and block an up-or-down vote unless it's replaced with a trigger.1
So today we're launching this new TV ad and petition to demonstrate that the trigger is an awful idea:
* Our health care system is in crisis now. A trigger could unnecessarily delay a public health insurance option for years—or kill it entirely by delaying it indefinitely. Thousands of families in New York lack insurance coverage2 and they can't afford to wait for the increased competition and lower costs a public option would deliver.
* Insurance companies are masters at gaming the system—we've all seen how they avoid paying out claims and covering people who are sick. If they know what criteria would trigger the creation of a public option, they'll do just enough to avoid the trigger, without changing the way they do business.
* Congress has tried to implement triggers and other "fallback" options in health care legislation before, and they've consistently failed. As one study put it, "History teaches us that trigger mechanisms are difficult to implement, too narrow in their focus, and can too easily be reversed if the political landscape changes."
We've got to let our senators know that the trigger is unacceptable. Click here to sign the petition:

Affordable Childcare
Are you in need of flexible, reliable, live-in childcare? Have you ever considered hosting an international au pair? Hosting an au pair is a very affordable childcare option.
Au Pairs range in age from 18-26 years old. They have all completed at least high school education and come from middle class families. They come on a LEGAL 12 month J-1 VISA and can work up to 45 hours per week doing childcare and light housekeeping for the children. They have drivers licenses and all can speak English.
The au pairs can teach you and your family about their culture and are very excited to learn about yours! This is a great educational experience for your children!
The average cost to host an au pair is $330 per week, regardless of the number of children you have or their ages!
To find out more about the au pair program, call me. We are currently waiving our application fee of $350 and we are offering $150 off of the program fees. With no application fee this means you can take a look at our Au Pairs absolutley fee.

and back to you Middletown (O.C.)
Well my father served in WWII, and I too, lost family to the holocaust. It's important to remember and I appreciate the emotional and intellectual reaction as relates to gun control, Germany, etc. But everything has a shade of grey, and while it's always sensible to not assume "it can't happen here", it's also good to see the differences while drawing on what one believes are the tell tale signs of similarity.
We've gone over this debate, and neither one of us is likely to change the other one's mind. I stand by my strong conviction. No one's coming to get your gun.
I am surprised though that while you don't support political assassination, that you aren't in favor of a law against it. So you just recommend "kill them"?
By what process, just free form armed persons deciding like the wild west? I ask this because there are extremists all over. ( Not saying you are). Yet, there is a movement on the far right that posts photos of Pelosi with a bullet hole in her forehead and a Christian fundamentalist preacher hinting at an Obama assassination to ward off policies he fears.
You might point to Bush bashing, photos, jokes etc. All true. But imagine someone posting photos or suggestions of political assassination back 2 or 7 years ago. Anyone who believes in the founders, our constitution, and liberty would want a law against that. How else do we draw parameters and maintain them?
As for the homophobe point. You missed it. Once more you're not reading what I respond to. In your eagerness to outgun ( lol) me in posts you're ready, armed and loaded with presumption and sometimes miss the base point.
I used that as an example, and made CLEAR that I wasn't suggesting you were.
Herein, respectfully, might be part of the problem. And I say this without an elitist, sense of superiority , whether it's spelling, or otherwise.
Words can be powerful. You use them to advance your message, yet, in both your own use and comprehension, it's not always clear. Or, respectfully, in error. Or, not quite what you mean. Of course no one gets it right all the time. And I'm not suggesting that in order to have a legitimate cogent argument that it meet some grammatical standard. But misunderstanding leads to innocent propagating of misinformation.
Changing the way things work ( or don't) in America is a nuance of political debate. It's how it applies to the political dance everyone plays, including Congressman Paul. You take it out on the limb, negotiate it back and then over time, hope to get it right.
That's how it was , once again, even though I'm repeating myself, with all the great American changes. Abolition of slavery, rights of women and African Americans to vote, participate in all walks of life, social security, Medicare, etc. We're a great nation. And while my general opinion of human nature has soured over time, I'm generally a little more forgiving, trusting and optimistic about our potential for evolving our social consciousness. No. not to be "socialist", that's different. But caring, and love in the great traditions of the useful message of religion and other personal spiritual goals.
I'm reminded of an interesting moment in the film "Sicko" ( ok like, love, hate or indifferent to Michael Moore, and yes he's just a film maker), there was this section at the end when Michael is interviewing a Canadian citizen about attitudes towards health care. Not whether or not the Canadian system worked better or what problems it had, but what people's attitudes were with respect to health care, rights, etc.
This man said that most Canadians just think it's right for everyone to be covered by a health care plan, even if they all paid for it. So you see it's a mindset.
As it turns out most Americans want health care reform. They differ on what and how.
As to the founders and the constitution on this issue. Well, they simply could not foresee in all their wisdom what things would come to be. They had great wisdom for sure. But life changes, people shift focus and as world condition moves , cultures and societies adjust, adapt and grow. Some, whether it be the Hasids in Monroe or the Taliban in Afghanistan or the Mormons in Utah, remain fixed and singular in their ways of seeing. They'll use cell phones, but none of the aforementioned cares much about allowing women to be equal partners in life, not to mention attitudes towards same sex marriage!
Now this doesn't mean I think all law and all programs and systems are all just fine and dandy, or that FDR was a Godsend, he was absent on the plight of Jews , as we both know. And JFK's family. well, we don't have to go on about papa Kennedy and we do Prescott Bush.
You get the point.
Wanting some legislation, some oversight, some regulation, that's in the best interests of the American people is not a liberal concept or a conservative one or a libertarian or without classification by political party. It's a moral one. The vast majority of Americans want some degree of law and oversight, the question is again, on what and how much? For you it's guns and health care that ignite a fuse. For others it's having to pay any tax at all. Yep there are plenty of folks who don't mind driving on highways, going to libraries, parks and having a bridge to cross by foot or bike, but think the feds have no right to collect even a single dime. And then there are those who can't stand any program. Doesn't matter what it does. Help the handi-capped enjoy riding the bus? Nope, why should I pay for it? Special consideration for the elderly? Nope, they should have prepared. My friend can't stand programs, so called "entitlements", or big unions or universal health care. But.......thanks to her husband's UPS union job, it's free dental for the kids, and her and thanks to a NY State program her hard of hearing son was fitted for FREE special hearing aid and teacher auditory device that allows him to hear clearly in class. So go figure. Me? I'm happy for her son and glad her husband's union provides them health care.
In my view, affordable, health care available to all American citizens is not only a moral issue but will strengthen our country.
Simply allowing threat of assassination as a means of political dissent, without repercussion is not only unAmerican but represents the very core of that which you fear.

re: No Kill Shelter (Orange County, ny) (please reconsider)
I agree with the poster below me...please reconsider what you're doing here.
Your dog is 15 years old. Dogs don't like major changes to begin with...older dogs are much less capable (and willing) to do so. Bringing him to a shelter where he'll live out his last years alone, scared, and confused isn't fair to him. I understand what it is like to have dogs and not make a lot of money; it's not easy, but it can be done. You make every conceivable sacrifice you can, borrow money from friends or family, sell your possessions, or whatever until you can find a place that's more affordable. Your dog has depended on you his whole life, and to take that away from him now would be cruel.
Additionally, they are correct, even no-kill shelters will put to sleep animals that are very old, sick, or injured. It is the only way they can continue to provide constant care to the many other animals they house.
There are apartments right here on CL that allow dogs. Maybe you can stay with a friend or family member, or, like I said, make sacrifices until you find another place. But please think of the emotional trauma this will inflict on your pup if you bring him to a shelter. I know it's hard to think about, but doing that would be for your own benefit, not his.
bass seeking blues (orange co)
Intermediate bassist looking for other musicians who would like to get together every so often to jam. I am trying to keep up my blues chops and thought this may be a fun way to do so. Interested in other styles too. I am not looking for a project or to play out, just a no-pressure casual get together a few times a month.

Hi!
Call (845)634-6767 for your appointment and mention this offer! Richard P. Herman, DDS 20 Squadron Blvd., Ste 260
Non profit organizations such as churches, boy scouts, cancer preventions center, human rights organization are some of the first to feel the money pinch, as government corporations and private people such as you and me are short of money and thus give less. Yet, those organizations are vital to our survival The current economy is not easy on any of us, and I have noticed way too many people holding off on their very, very basic dental care. Call (845)634-6767 for your appointment and mention this offer!
Please also look at our next "Good Deed Contest" where we will be giving away a computer and other prizes early March 2010. For more info go to www.doagooddeed.com Again, please forward this e-mail to any one you feel has neglected his basic health care due to economical difficulties. Your church or charity leaders might also know many a parishioners who could need such an offer. Did you know that all – absolutely all - health problems can be prevented and thousands of dollars can be saved that way? So, let's get you, or someone you love, smiling again! Call (845)634-6767 for your appointment and mention this offer! Richard P. Herman, DDS 20 Squadron Blvd., Ste 260

“the founders, our constitution and liberty would want a law against that“
Answer;
that’s absolutely WRONG, you can‘t get any more wrong then that!!!

The definition of a person that is NOT a patriot;
