Okay, Where the hell are all the Bassist? (Rock Hill, ny )
Hi Im a female vocalist , I have a band with 3 other dudes, we are all in our mid 20's looking for a bassist who's wants to play music. We dont want anyone who wants to be like everyone else and we dont want anyone who just talks about how awesome they are and they really suck. We already have a few original songs written but it's def. missing something. We are influenced by smashing pumpkins, metallica, incubus, disturbed, coheed and cambria, green day and alot of other bands, the only thing that really matters in this is that we are just influenced we dont want to be them , we want to be us. In term's of what we're looking for, we want a good solid drummer, doesn't have to be spectacular but the main thing we're looking for is enthusiasm, basically someone who is excited about being in a band and learning songs, looks forward to playing every week, and understands that sometime it's a grind and hard work but its importenent enough to them that it doesn't matter and there not gonna quit. Someone who loves to play, for instance if we end up just jaming for a whole session your not gonna get upset that we're 'not getting anything done' or whatever. Ideally music would be the most importent thing after say work/school, if your have a ton of hobbies and music is just one of them among say bowling or cars or whatever, we're probably not interested. We're looking to start rehearsing once a week, then start increasing it once we get going. We both work during the day so we'd be playing at night, if you work at night it's probably isn't going to be practical. In terms of a singer, I'd rather bring one in when we have more material ready, but if your interested let us know.

In term's of what we're looking for, we want a good solid drummer, doesn't have to be spectacular but the main thing we're looking for is enthusiasm, basically someone who is excited about being in a band and learning songs, looks forward to playing every week, and understands that sometime it's a grind and hard work but its importenent enough to them that it doesn't matter and there not gonna quit. Someone who loves to play, for instance if we end up just jaming for a whole session your not gonna get upset that we're 'not getting anything done' or whatever. Ideally music would be the most importent thing after say work/school, if your have a ton of hobbies and music is just one of them among say bowling or cars or whatever, we're probably not interested. We're looking to start rehearsing once a week, then start increasing it once we get going. We both work during the day so we'd be playing at night, if you work at night it's probably isn't going to be practical. In terms of a singer, I'd rather bring one in when we have more material ready, but if your interested let us know.

Identify from the beginning the timbre of your voice as well as your voice range . Some unlucky students have been convinced to belong to a voice range that is NOT theirs ! I have been dealing in more then one case with singers that think to be a mezzo instead they would be making a great career as Alto !!
Once you know with certainty and confidence what is your range and timbre you can direct your energy to the right kind of repertoire . This is very important especially for those who want to pursue singing at a professional level .You don't need to waste your time , money and energy in the wrong repertoire . For example if you are a soprano leggero you don't want to sing R.Wagner or G.Verdi .
Other important aspects :
a)Enlarging your voice range in order to get your instrument more complete , without forcing your voice b)Breathing according to the Music Phrase
c)Pitch control without use of too much vibrato( I am not against it but I am when the vibrato compromises the pitch)
d)Clarity in the speed
e)Projection of your voice - The projection of your voice might sound great in the Music Studio . Would happen the same if you sing at the Met ?

My favorite genre's are melodic death metal, power metal, death metal, folk metal, symphonic metal and prog metal.
