Orange Cat Found (Wappingers)

About a week ago a very hungry thin orange cat came to my porch looking
for a meal. He or she is fearful but so hungry that he allows me to come near
to fill the food dish.

This is a lost pet. I hope whoever owns him reads this post

Do You Have An FeLV Cat That Needs A Companion??

Orangino is a feral cat that lived outside, all alone, for 8 years. We feed him morning and night. He was so lonely and would run to us when we arrived, so happy for the company. When we would leave he would sit and watch us leave with sad little eyes. He sometimes found friendly cats that would come stay with him, which really made him happy, but we would take them away from him and get them a home. We couldn’t stand him being out there any longer. He was so lonely and his winters were horrible. We tried to trap him for two years but he would never go into any of the traps until now. We were so happy we got him and I was going to let him live with me and my cats. I didn’t care if he was feral, I just wanted him to have companions, a home to live in and love. I had him blood tested and very sadly found out he’s FeLV positive. He’s living in a double cage my garage right now. He’s so very sad and very depressed. He stays curled up and sleeps all day and night. He barely looks at me when I go to feed him. We can’t put him back outside because he might not survive another winter and we can’t risk him infecting other cats. I’m praying that we find a home with an FeLV cat that also needs a companion and that doesn’t care that he’s feral. Loveable 8 yr old akita/husky mix looking for home (Phoenicia)

I have a very well behaved akita/husky mix who just arrived from the city (she is 8 years old). We have two dogs, and she is very territorial, (only with the dogs), and we cannot keep her. My son took her from someone in the city because they couldn't keep her, he moved and he couldn't keep her, so I took her from him. She has been here for four days and we absolutely love her, but cannot risk the other dogs. She has been tested in every way with humans, and she remains to be loveable with them. She has no shots, but we will donate $200 to whoever takes her to get her immunized. She has also never been fixed, but does not go into heat. She gets along with cats very well.
She will be the perfect dog with somebody who does not have dogs.

I agree with the poster below me...please reconsider what you're doing here.

Your dog is 15 years old. Dogs don't like major changes to begin with...older dogs are much less capable (and willing) to do so. Bringing him to a shelter where he'll live out his last years alone, scared, and confused isn't fair to him. I understand what it is like to have dogs and not make a lot of money; it's not easy, but it can be done. You make every conceivable sacrifice you can, borrow money from friends or family, sell your possessions, or whatever until you can find a place that's more affordable. Your dog has depended on you his whole life, and to take that away from him now would be cruel.

Additionally, they are correct, even no-kill shelters will put to sleep animals that are very old, sick, or injured. It is the only way they can continue to provide constant care to the many other animals they house.

There are apartments right here on CL that allow dogs. Maybe you can stay with a friend or family member, or, like I said, make sacrifices until you find another place. But please think of the emotional trauma this will inflict on your pup if you bring him to a shelter. I know it's hard to think about, but doing that would be for your own benefit, not his.

5 or 6 YO B&W female cat in need of a good home (Middlehope, NY)

Please help me find a good home for "Baby" both of her caretakers passed away, dad in June and mom in November and she desperately needs a loving person (or people) to take her. I believe she's around 5 or 6 years old, by no means a kitten but not elderly at all. She's an indoor, spayed, declawed, litter trained female and would make an excellent companion animal. From what I remember when her brother was around they got along well, she doesn't do well with kids, she seems partial to men and I'm unsure how she would do around a dog. Border Collie to good home

My dog, Nitrous, is missing. He is a 3 year old Siberian Husky, who will be turning four at the end of this month. He is of a black, grey, and white coloring. He weighs about 50 lbs. Thank you to everyone who helped find both of my dogs! They are home safe and sound. I tried to delete the original post from 11/14 about the missing Springer and Shitzupoo but was unable. They are home and happy. Thank you. For those of you who are looking for your lost pets, try to stay hopeful and get the word out!! We were in close contact with the SPCA, local store vendors, radio stations, animal control, police, and neighbors. We posted flyers at the dog park, rail trail, stop and shop, Adam's, etc. (high dog/people traffic areas). We had adds to go out in the Journal and Penny Saver. We are grateful to all the people who helped us, took care of our dogs while they were lost, and lent support!! Good luck to those people who are in our previous desperate situation. Our thoughts are with you!!!

Cats and Kittens in Need of New Families (Walden, NY)

Please help us, we are in desperate need of new homes for cats, we have the following kittens and cats;
1. Female pure white ten week old kitten. Pretty mellow but loves to play with the others.
2. Female pure white cat, seven toes.she is about a year and a half and a little shy around the other kitties but loves to be held and cuddled by people.
3. Female pure white cat, is a sister to the above cat and is very loveable to people but a little shy around other kitties.
4. Female pure grey with seven toes and is another sister to the above to cats. She is food aggressive but loveable towards people. She can be a little cranky towards other kitties.
5. Male pure grey, very sweet little guy but shy towards other cats. He is very mellow with everyone and is about 2 years of age
It will be greatly appreciated if someone could step up and help us with these cats, it is not fair to them there are too many of them here so they do not get enough one on one love. Bird Cages - Two with Lighted Domes (Livingston Manor 12758)

The White cage is really nice and has a Lighted Dome. I had Cockatiels in this cage. It is 18"x18" and is 23" high to the top of the cage and a total of 31" to the top of the lighted dome. This custom made lighted top takes a Full Spectrum light bulb. Full Spectrum Lighting has been shown to be beneficial to birds by mimicking a bird's natural environment. The full spectrum light helps with natural synthesis of Vitamin D, helps skin and feather health and normal preening behaviors. It does need a bulb and they cost around $15. This cage has a large door in the middle and a smaller door on either side for food and water bowls. It's a nice cage for a Cockatiel. $65

I have two other cages that are 13x18x37H, I had a Parakeet in these cages. Both cages have a swing and a perch. Parakeets love swings.

The one with a Lighted Dome is $50. It does need a new bulb.

The one without a lighted dome is $15, it does have a few bent bars.

Ferret to good home (Poughkeepsie)

Hello, I have a very playful male ferret to a good home. does not bite. He is about a year old, fixed, white and tan. I bought him from a animal story but recently had to pick up a second job so he no longer gets the attention that he deserves.he is litter trained. I also have a small cage that I bought that I will give him to you in although consideration of a bigger cage would be an idea. He does get along with other ferrets although may be shy at first. I am only asking for a 50$ rehoming fee, but that is up for discussion. With two full time jobs, I am a bit hard to get a hold of so email is the best way. Any questions I will be glad to answer. I just want him to go to a good home. Being stuck in a cage all day is not fair.

2 female guinea pigs are looking for a new home. They are a bonded pair and need to stay together. Both are about 2years old. Please only inquire if you are able to provide the time and space for them. They are currently in a 3' x 2' cage. We just don't have the time to give them the attention and floor time that they deserve. I would be very sad if they would be stuck in a tiny cage in someone's laundry room. The pigs are used to kids and handled frequently. (grooming, bathing, cleaning cage, etc.) I would still prefer a home with older kids since one pig has bitten my daughter's friend once before. The brown pig is very nosy and not shy. The white/brown pig is shy but very easy to handle. The right home is our first priority.

Here are some stories about cats we have.

Alikat is a 2 year old Siamese that was cruelly locked in an empty apartment when her owners moved. She had only water from a dripping faucet until she was rescued by a neighbor who saw her in the window. She is healthy now, and has put on a lot of weight. She is looking for a family to call her own.

Spike is a two year old tabby boy. He got in an accident, and came to us injured! We fixed him right up, and although he has a little limp, he's a pile of fun. He has the most handsome face. He loves to share your food and is a very curious and smart guy!


Shifty and Butterfinger are 5 month old kittens. They got a yucky infection, so they have lost one eye apiece. You wouldn't know it from how they play!! They both love to cuddle.


We also have over 200 other cats who are happy, healthy and looking for a home. Stop by and visit us today!!

Here are some things we need people to do:
Clean up after the cats. Change the litter and sweep and mop.

Do laundry! We have a little laundry room where you can hang out and just wash towels and bedding.. We wash litter pans too.

Hang out with a cat! We always have a cat or two hanging around that could use a little extra love. They may be stuck waiting in intake, or maybe its a brand new kitten not ready to go out to the big room yet! If you come in for this we will assign you a cat to love!

Sort out the donations. Just help us put things away.

Clean up outside...rake, sweep, etc.

Random chores too...little things we haven't gotten to.
