Craig's Barber shop (Middletown)

Having grown up going to a real barber to get my hair cut, I jumped at the opportunity when I saw the sign for Craig's Barber shop at 416 East Main Street, Middletown. This guy was more like Edward Scissorhands with an attitude. Back in the day, a true barber used a razor on your side burns and neck, not a clipper. In fact, he never touched my sideburns, did a terrible job. So not worth the $12.00. If he was true to his trade he would have made a long term customer. I guess I should have followed my first impression after having to get buzzed into the store?? It is a barber shop not a jewelers. Stay clear people.

There's a condition in combat. Most people know about it. It's when a fighting person's nervous system has been stressed to it's absolute peak and maximum. Can't take anymore input. The nervous system has either (click) snapped or is about to snap.

In the first world war, that condition was called shell shock. Simple, honest, direct language. Two syllables, shell shock. Almost sounds like the guns themselves.

That was seventy years ago. Then a whole generation went by and the second world war came along and very same combat condition was called battle fatigue. Four syllables now. Takes a little longer to say. Doesn't seem to hurt as much. Fatigue is a nicer word than shock. Shell shock! Battle fatigue.

Then we had the war in Korea, 1950. Madison avenue was riding high by that time, and the very same combat condition was called operational exhaustion. Hey, we're up to eight syllables now! And the humanity has been squeezed completely out of the phrase. It's totally sterile now. Operational exhaustion. Sounds like something that might happen to your car.

Then of course, came the war in Viet Nam, which has only been over for about sixteen or seventeen years, and thanks to the lies and deceits surrounding that war, I guess it's no surprise that the very same condition was called post-traumatic stress disorder. Still eight syllables, but we've added a hyphen! And the pain is completely buried under jargon. Post-traumatic stress disorder.

In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was “sacked” after the press found out he was having regular contacts with “Hamas”, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will “Take care of things”.

!!!!!Victory Petroleum-Dirty Oil!!!!! (Hopewell Junction)

I always used a very reputable company for my oil, and had it serviced every year. But with the economy right now I need to pinch pennies anyway I could, so when Victory Petroleum located in Hopewell Junction, offered a cheaper price (Limited Time), I jumped at it.
Yet I paying the price, far beyond the little bit I saved on purchasing from this company.
There oil was so polluted and dirty that when I had it serviced the maintenance guy, said " I have never seen anything like this before, in all my 20 years in this field" the furnace couldn't even be Maintenance and cleaned, because the oil Victory Petroleum was putting in there was so dirty, that it was clumping up like thick mud. I had to pay a higher maintenance fee, because they spent 4 hours, trying drain and remove the clumping mud. I Called Victory Petroleum and spoke to the owner Lou and explained to him what was going on and I even had the maintenance guy talked with him , so Lou would have a understanding of what was going on. Yet Lou just dismissed my concern and wasn't willing to help with the maintenance fee, and not only that, he was down right mean and nasty.

I want everyone to know what my experience was with Victory Petroleum, in hopes that they will not use there service. It's not worth it.

All you have to do is take a few hours of their repetitive programming copy it to a disc or mp3 player ..stick it in your dash and you now have a 30 year collection of WPDH in a single format. reg. Creepy Old Man (these Daze's)

I worked with kids for many years and am now retired. I miss their youth and vitality. There is nothing like a creative youthful mind and watching it work. I enjoyed their company then. Today I haven't any children of my own but I still enjoy watching kids. But with whats going on with men my age I would encourage every parent to keep their kids away and or monitor them CLOSE.
It's a shame and not being able to toss around a baseball or throw a frisbee with kids is a reality today. These men who are my peers in age have ruined it for everyone else. But there is an alternative for men such as me and I hope they take advantage of it. The organization is called Big Brothers and Big Sisters. I hope that more people will make themselves more available to these kids and not to let the bad apples spoil that which is so very important, our humanity.

He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident – a wholesome presidential package. It is so instinctive for most people to want to see blacks succeed. It is as if all humanity is carrying a collective guilt for what the ancestors of blacks endured. However, despite my initial interest in him, I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words.

It is surreal to see the level of hysteria in his admirers. This phenomenon is unprecedented in American politics.
Women scream and swoon during his speeches. They yell and shout to Obama, “I love you.” Never did George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt. Martin Luther King Jr. or Ronald Reagan arouse so much raw emotion. Despite their achievements, none of them was raised to the rank of Messiah. The Illinois senator has no history of service to the country. He has done nothing outstanding except giving promises of change and hyping his audience with hope. It’s only his words, not his achievements that is causing this much uproar.

When cheering for someone turns into adulation, something is wrong. Excessive adulation is indicative of a personality cult. The cult of personality is often created when the general population is discontent. A charismatic leader can seize the opportunity and project himself as an agent of change and a revolutionary leader. Often, people, tired of the status quo, do not have the patience to examine the nature of the proposed change. All they want is change. During 1979, when the Iranians were tired of the dictatorial regime of the late Shah, they embraced Khomeini, not because they wanted Islam, but because he promised them change. The word in the street was, “anything is better than the Shah.” They found their error when it was too late.

The economic conditions in Germany after World War I were horrible.

The people of Germany got caught up in the euphoria of the changes that Hitler promised.

The Nazis burned books to eradicate records and contrary thoughts.

The Nazis bullied Jews and other segments of society.

The Nazis were elitists with talk of the Arayan Race.

The perceived economic conditions are bad. The economic conditions are perfect here compared to post War War I Germany.

Obama supporters have bullied bloggers when questions about Obama or his past are asked. Some of these attacks are clearly orchestrated by the Obama Campaign. Some of these bullies have attacked family members of bloggers.

Obama has recently shown his elitist attitude during his speech in San Francisco. His arrogance parallels Hitler’s Aryan race comments in regard to Obama’s God Like omnipotence in regard to having the answers to problems.

I just found out Jerry Falwell died in May of 2007! Where was I? ..........today is a cold day in Hell.



Actually his death was rather untimely and quite costly for one delivery boy! It was a rather humid morning and Jerry had his usual lunch delivered to him at his office,from a local eatery that he had ordered from on many occasions. He was such a steady customer that the eatery pretty much knew his order by heart,a large poor boy with extra hot mustard,2 dozen wings with extra blue cheese dressing,4 chili dogs drenched in extra onions and sauce,2 servings of the FRIED FRITTERS lunch special and a 2 litre bottle of Diet 7 UP! He had made the switch from the coca colas to diet 7UP as he was aware of his weight struggle,poor heart condition and brutally high blood pressure. Apparently very hungry Jerry was pounding down the last of the poor boy and,in his excitement,reached for a handful of the wings that were staring right back at him. He shoved the four empty hot dog wrappers aside,as they didn't stand a chance and had been hammered down before he even got the wrapper off the sandwich! He shoved the 4 wings,at once, into the sewer he called a mouth and then a terrible thing happened. He slowly choked to death under his desk as he desperately reached for the diet 7 UP that could have saved his life had he been able to just reach it! While flopping on the ground like a fish(a really really big fish)his frantic arm waving and foot stomping attracted no one to help him. He was discovered later that afternoon when 2 of his lesbian maids were getting ready to sneak into his office and do the naughty things they usually did with each other on their dinner break. The tragedy of the whole situation was the poor delivery driver who had dropped off the delicious lunch in the first place some 4 hrs earlier. To start with,he never got paid for the delivery,thus never recieved a tip and was later fired from his job as he was late getting back to the shop. What a terrible day this was in our nation's history as we can ill afford to lose any of these valuable public service people who so reliably bring us our meals.

P.S. Update on Falwell's stay in heaven. In Indiana 11 months ago,there was horrible car crash and a young christian man by the name of Hugh Kennsukkitt was pronounced dead on arrival at Hoosier Hick Hospital. His miraculous recovery and his description of being"taken thru a very bright light up to heaven" was documented by FOX NOISE in a 2 hr special this past summer. He vividly recalled seeing heaven in all it's grandure and beauty. He saw Patsey Ramsey chasing after Jon Benet in a field of flowers yelling "It's OK nobody knows". He then told FOX he was stunned to see a much slimmed down Jerry Falwell(some 100 lbs lighter he added)up on a ladder helping St. Peter and they were both painting. 1<3 dlt boy, I read your post the other day,I was out all day yesterday filming,,and when I read what you posted,I have to agree,not too many Happy People/Posters here,or anywhere...so sad to say...maybe its the economy,but I was always shown to whistle while you work, do the hard parts first,and shake a mans hand like you mean it...(that shake shows a mans Zest for life) so many guys hand me a loaf of wonder bread,so soft and squishy,hell, even a roll of charmin is more firm than their handshake.haha.
I believe,if you wake up in the morning,you have one more day to do it right, and inside that is a choice,you can smile,or frown pretty simple.

I agree with the 2nd poster. You have to do your research. I got a car on CL few years back for $150 bucks. The owners were really nice and told me that they did not wish to put more money into it. Their mechanic was the one taking them for a ride.You should have seen his face when I handed him the check for the car. Priceless. He knew the deal. It needed a sensor and a new battery. I had it for three years and it was great. Then it over heated and my husband continued to drive it after the water pump went then the gasket blew.. I put maybe 300 into it. Not bad. But to expect to get something for nothing is being unrealistic. You have to know cars or bring someone that does and yes carfax them as well.


There are buys out there.

I just felt like I should let people know about something that I saw on this site recently that had me peeved.

There is a car up for sale that I had seen on here prior. It was for sale for $400. The car had a lot wrong with it, including a bad strut and the transmission was on its way out. I came to see the car because I was going to buy it. The previous owner listed the problems on the ad. At least they were honest.

Apparently the car sold, and now the new owner has an ad for it up. They are asking $950 and all the person did was replace the brakes!!! And the ad does not list any of the other issues with the car. So this person is trying to make $550 bucks off of someone without disclosing the problems with the car.

I just want to ask sellers to BE HONEST about what they are selling. Especially when it comes to cars. If a car has an abundance of problems, list that in the ad. Don’t try to be deceptive to get buyers. I can understand wanting to flip a car to make a buck, but changing the brakes and asking for $950 for something you spent $400 is outrageous. Especially when you didn’t even fix the major problems!! You think the hour you spent changing the brakes is worth that much? You have to be nuts.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU BUY ON CRAIGSLIST! You don’t want to risk your life buying a car from a dishonest seller. Always have the car looked at by someone who knows cars before you purchase it.

I am 52 years old and grew up here, spent many a day in the woods camping, etc. There were no ticks because every town had a pesticide budget and they sprayed. Around 1980 the State DEC stopped the towns from spraying and now you have the tremendous tick problem. I have to say that wildlife has made a tremendous comeback. It may have something to do with the banning of pesticides. One thing for sure, people shouldn't be getting sick, crippled from ticks or dying from West Nile. There are many states still using pesticides (Florida) and they have sprayed for West Nile down towards NYC and New Jersey.

P.S. I don't understand your rant about using pesticides causing more ticks

hi, i saw your post on repairing the bumper cover. honestly, the 4 something isnt bad as long as they do a decent job. the 8 something is normally is where the bumper has to be removed from the car, repaired, refinished, sanded and buffed, and reinstalled. thats how we do it, CORRECTLY. depends on the shop. there are alot of so called body shops, most do only commercially acceptible work (GOOD ENOUGH). and will just do what they have to to make it look good out the door.

ask who the shop is, and make a deal and pay them directly.
