Work Search Coach (Kamloops)
Candidates must have the ability to maintain a job search centre, provide assistance with the development of resumes, cover letters, networking and work search strategies. Provide training and support enabling participants to use job search tools. Employment placement & monitoring experience as well as knowledge of the local labour market and Community Service Network is an asset. Responsibilities include reception and administrative duties such as answering phone, greeting clients, issuing and recording participant supports and balancing petty cash.
Experience with MS Word, Excel and Access is required. Experience working with local employers, income assistance recipients, youth at risk, disability clients, aboriginal communities and people with addictions is an asset. Social Services degree, diploma or certificate, Trainer Development Certificate or Job Club Facilitator diploma considered an asset. Valid Driver’s license required.

The Opportunity - Human Resources Advisor - Kamloops
Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Advisor, the Human Resources Advisor - Kamloops will act as a liaison between store management and the corporate People & Culture department. The Human Resources Advisor provides advice and guidance to store management and team members in all areas of human resources as well as assists the operations team in interpreting company policies and procedures and relevant employment legislation. As the in the field People and Culture liaison, the Advisor assists in the development and implementation of strategic programs and people practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with store management to resolve employee relations issues and concerns and reviews all disciplinary documentation prior to delivery.
- Helps ensure that the business is in compliance with all relevant legislation, including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety and Provincial Employment Standards.
- Provides training to management team on Human Resources related topics to enhance their confidence in this area.
- Maintains monthly human resources scorecard.
- Second level support for questions and or concerns with Employee Benefits. Oversees bi-annual re-enrollment process including communication and training.
- Maintains the City Recruitment Report and conducts New Hire Orientations.
- Works with management team to ensure training programs within the stores are current.
- Oversees annual Performance Review process including training management and staff on process.
- Works on regional HR projects and other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A sound knowledge of relevant legislation including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards Act and Human Rights legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and people oriented.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills to filter through issues and provide advice and counsel to management and employees.
- Advanced time management skills and the ability to prioritize are required.
- A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong conflict resolution and facilitation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications and MS Power Point is considered an asset.
- Human Resources related degree and/or diploma is an asset but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Travel between stores will be required; annual inter provincial travel.
- Majority of work is conducted in an office environment within a large retail outlet, with periodic exposure to employees on the retail floor.
