A No vote on Health Care Reform? (Arkansas)

Tomorrow, when senators cannot be reached by phone, email or snail mail, Reid is calling for a cloture vote. If this passes, any hopes of stopping government takeover of health care is lost.

Senator Blanche Lincoln knows the people of Arkansas overwhelmingly oppose this legislation. Because she is afraid of her constituents, she is afraid to vote "yes" on the health care bill. "Cloture' is being called a simple procedural measure".

IT IS NOTHING OF THE SORT. It requires 60 votes for cloture to pass. If Sen Lincoln votes "yes" on cloture, the bill can then go to the floor where is is likely to pass with only 51 votes. Once Lincoln knows the bill wil pass with only 51 votes, she can comfortably vote "no" and tell her constituents she voted how they wanted.

This is a trick. She knows that voting yes for cloture is a vote for passage of government takeover of health care.

Do not let her get away with this trick.
