Network Engineer - Level II (Central Virginia)

Network Engineer Level II - opening for individuals with analytical and problem-solving skills, Microsoft Certification (MCSE) and LAN/WAN experience. Experience with EMC Navisphere, VMware, Cisco, Checkpoint, Citrix, MS Exchange, Symantec, and MS SQL are a plus. Experience
• 5+ years LAN/WAN management experience.
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Experience with VPN, Firewalls, DNS, VOIP, Server Consolidation and Centralized Storage
• Strong background in Cisco network devices (Routers, Devices, VPN Concentrators, etc.)
• Knowledge of Multi Protocol Labeled Switching (MPLS) standards, and telecommunication systems.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP
• Understanding of ATM, Frame Relay, T3, T1, Ethernet
• Knowledge of various Microsoft Operating systems, both server and workstation
• Experience in workstation computing, diagnosing and resolving network and workstation problems.
• Ability to multi-task
• Exceptional analytic and problem solving skills and the ability to work well independently and within a team.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of network management and protocol analyzers

Duties
• Install, configure and manage server hardware, network hardware and network operating systems.
• Deploy, troubleshoot and maintain WAN circuits (MetroLAN, ATM, T1/T3, Frame Relay, etc.)
• Configure, manage and design IP routing using a combination of static routing and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.).
• Manage switched architecture to include creating VLANs, managing VTP domains, spanning tree, and port security.
• Monitor all networking equipment and maintain activity logs.
• Configure and maintain firewall, router access lists, and NAT.
• Configure IPSec and manage virtual private networks (VPN).
• Document current network and design upgrades in various written formats (VISIO, MS Project, Word, etc.).
• Manage the health of the network via various SNMP applications.
• Configure and manage Checkpoint UTM and SonicWall Firewall systems
• Configure and maintain email messaging systems such as MS Exchange 2003, 2007 and Blackberry Enterprise Server.
• Configure and manage enterprise storage systems - EMC/IBM/HP
• Configure and Manage VMware virtualization environment
Desired
• Experience in Microsoft, Novell, and Unix systems administration, and backup and recovery
• Experience with VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including IP-PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, and interactive voice response
• Knowledge of network components, (routers, switches) configuration, application and use.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint setup and administration
• Knowledge of firewall appliances, configuration, application and use.
• Ability to lift 40-50 pounds of equipment.
• Bachelor's degree in technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics.
• Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE)
• Novell Certified Network Engineer (CNE)
• Novell Certified Network Administrator (CNA)
