This book teaches a scientific basis of psychological reasoning and covers both micro-level analyses of nerve cell processes and macro-levels of cultural sytsems. Also, the book mentions tragedy of lives, ways of life and mental illnesses and so much more. I enjoyed reading this text because the book let me have a better picture of the mind and thoroughly examine the structures of develpoment from babies to elderly etc. The book has very discriptive pictures and understandable definitions, examples and real life stories.

Mike Meyers' CompTIA A+ Guide to Managing and Troubleshooting PCs, Second Edition. McGraw Hill. Mike Meyers. Used for CIS 122. $40
I cannot say enough about this book! If I didn't have two copies of it, I would never sell it. This book has been the easiest book to read on the A+ material that I have ever read. I also have his Network+ book, but it's my only copy and I couldn't sell it if my life depended on it! If you don't have the Mike Meyers' A+ and Network+ books, you need them!

This book covers basic computer terms and concepts. It's great for the neophyte computer user or just because you need it for school.

MCTS Guide to Microsoft Windows Vista. Thomson Course Technology. Byron Wright and Leon Plesniarski. Used for CIS 2149. $40.
This is an excellent, hands-on, picture-by-picture manual for configuring Windows Vista. It maps to the MCTS Configuring Vista exam. If I had any intention of supporting a Windows environment, this is a book I would keep. Great reference, great training.

Computer Service and Repair. G-W Publishing. Richard M. Roberts. Bought, but never used for, CIS 122 at the Macon campus. $30.
I have not read or even opened this book, so I can't vouch for it. I bought it thinking I would need it for CIS 122 at another campus, but wound up taking CIS 122 at the local campus, and that instructor used a different book.

Guide to Parallel Operating Systems with Windows XP and Linux. Course Technology. Carswell, Webb, and Freese. Used for CIS 103. $20.
This book is good for the Windows user that needs to know how to get around in Linux for his job or for fun. It shows you how to do something in Windows XP, and then it shows you how to perform the same, identical task in Linux.

Programming Logic and Design, Introductory, Fifth Edition. Course Technology. Joyce Farrell. Used for CIS 105. $20.
This is another book I cannot rave enough about! It will break the logic of a programmer down block by block. I bought this book just for class. What I found, though, is that this is more than a textbook. It ingrains the fundamentals of programming very, very well.

This is an excellent book to learn every single detail about the latest A+ exams.

Covers some additional information that the A+ Certification Study Guide leaves out. Another excellent resource for passing the A+ exams.

The C Programming Language, Second Edition. Prentice Hall. Kerrighan and Ritchie. $30.
This is THE book on the C language. It's the famous K&R book. It is the perfect learning manual and reference book, all in one, and all in 189 pages (plus appendices)!

This book is an EXCELLENT, concise, last-minute study tool for the A+, Network+, and Security+ exams. It goes over individual objectives and covers everything in enough depth to refresh you and in some cases teach you a topic you didn't know about. It is also a good desktop reference.

Linux Desktop Hacks. O'Reilly. Petreley and Bacon. $10.
This book is a good book for beginners. Unfortunately, when I bought it, I didn't know it was for beginners.

Swords & Circuitry. Prima Tech. Hallford and Hallford. $15.
This book may be aimed at electronic game development, but it provides theory that can applied to any sort of game design. It is, essentially, THE game design book. It has helped me with numerous projects. It's not the best book in the world, but it is one of the greats.
