Set in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains near Saranac Lake, NY, Adirondack Leadership Expeditions (ALE) provides treatment to troubled teens.
We are currently seeking a Wilderness Therapist for our licensed therapeutic wilderness program. ALE is a character development program that provides a multi-environmental approach to help struggling adolescents change unproductive beliefs about themselves and the world and promotes their personal growth through a focus on insight-oriented experiences. The forested, mountain setting removes urban distractions and simplifies options to help students gain insight into their core values and accept responsibility for their choices. As a wilderness therapist your role would entail addressing the student’s personal issues, helping our student’s overcome their self-limiting beliefs, and developing their leadership potential. As a wilderness therapist you will provide weekly individual/group psychotherapy and assessment and will be able to utilize experiential education, group dynamics, academic curricula, and conflict resolution techniques. You would teach the students how interact with staff and the other students in a more responsible and empathetic way as well as help them to learn from the natural consequences that they experience during their stay at ALE.
With a caseload of 6-8 students ranging in age from 13-17 years, the therapists will perform individual and group psychotherapy and provide weekly family consultation. The therapists will drive the therapeutic process and will ensure that clinical services are being provided. The selected candidate will provide leadership and supervision to the field team on a rotating schedule, assign outcome goals for individual students and maintain records. An ideal candidate will possess a passion for the outdoors, be tolerant of the climate, be able to work independently, as well as be able to do direct and short-term work with adolescents and possess sharp clinical skills.

Incumbent must possess sufficient knowledge and understanding of CPT and ICD-9 coding as care managers may be responsible for correctly coding to reflect the medical information within various claim systems on cases referred.

Education Requirements
Qualifications:
This position requires incumbents to be licensed registered nurses whose expertise meets the current needs of the clinical team. Clinical Care Consultants must hold current licenses, registrations, and/or any professional designations that may be required within the jurisdiction. It is required that all of our clinical care consultants keep their clinical area of expertise current and acquire the necessary continuing education credits to keep his/her license, designation and/or certification current.
Senior Clinical Care Managers must possess one or more related certifications such as (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse, Certified Case Manager, etc.).
They would prefer to have someone that currently works on disability business if we can find that experienced.
