Our house is a terrific, classic New Orleans "double gallery", built in the 1850's, with fourteen foot ceilings, old plaster moldings and details, enormous old cypress doors, and an elegant, dramatic entrance way and staircase. The house has two large bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a nice, fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a television room, a dining room, and an art studio, about 2800 square feet. It is the kind of house that you think of when you imagine a great, old New Orleans home. And it has central air and a pool.

It is in the terrific Irish Channel/Lower Garden District neighborhood, about a block from Magazine Street, in walking distance from shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants.

We are looking for someplace with similar character and quality in Portland, Maine, preferably in Munjoy Hill or one of the historic areas. If we were unable to find someplace in Portland, we would consider a trade for a historic home in a rural setting, somewhere within an hour's drive of Alfred, Maine, where my wife's family lives.

Multi-pet family 2 adults 0 kids (tween' Fairfield n' Bangor ME) $650

Seeking apartment/mobile home rental for a multi-pet (2 cats and 1-25lb Chihuahua terrier mix dog). We are two nonsmoking, college educated, w/ current income, adults who have no children, but 3 very spoiled furry kids. I am returning to school in the Bangor area and we are looking for any place between Fairfield and Bangor that would be willing to sign some form of pet policy allowing us to keep all 3 of our animals while we are renting (at least a year - likely longer).

Our animals have well documented vetting throughout their lives (including annual deworming/monthly topical flea preventative/grooming/spaying/routine vaccinations), are cared for by a knowledgeable animal care worker (that's me-I worked for a wildlife park/zoo for the previous 3 years caring for animals on a daily basis) who is returning to school to become licensed as a Vet Tech. They are indoor only (with the dog only having supervised outdoor access), and are definitely no more destructive than a small child or a pair of rowdy frat brothers - and much cleaner and will not throw any wild parties on their own. We would be willing to give up a portion of the deposit in advance (not to be refunded to us upon leaving) as security. We can get a reference from our current rental who has allowed us all 3 animals. We will also be responsible for any yard waste clean up and will provide only on leash outings when on rental properties for everyone's safety/well being. We are responsible renters and pet owners, trying to continue our education in Northern Maine w/out having to give up the animals we love - ideally we would like a rental around $400-500 (w/out utilities heat/hot water) or $600-$650 (w/ heat hot water) but other rental options considered if a pet policy can be arranged.

This may be a flop, being as its only March. I'm trying to get a jump start on searching for an apt/room mates when my lease is up here at Liberty Commons, which will be the last week of May. With all that being said a little about myself - I'm currently 21, laid back, outdoorsy - I love to ski, hike, travel, go site seeing and to the beaches, play basketball, run, etc - friendly, shy but after I get to know someone I will be more outgoing, very organized and neat. I work full time as an FOC/HR assistant. I do enjoy drinking the occasional beer after work from time to time, I don't smoke, nor do I have any pets.
