DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Become a math teacher! (New York, New York)
The New Visions-Hunter College Urban Teacher Residency is a 14 month teacher-training program that fully integrates the graduate coursework of the aspiring teacher (resident) with intensive, hands-on experiences in New York City schools. Within a strong public school, residents collaborate one-on-one with an expert mentor teacher around all aspects of teaching. At the same time, residents take graduate courses at Hunter College specifically designed to align with experiences in urban schools. Residents are awarded a stipend of $22,500 plus health benefits during their residency year. Successful completion of the program results in a master’s degree in education and certification to teach in New York City. Graduates of UTR are hired within New Visions’ network of 76 public schools and are asked to commit to four years of teaching in New Visions schools after their residencies. For the 2010-2011 residency, UTR will be preparing 48 residents in English, biology, mathematics and special education for grades 7-12. We have three children, two dogs and a very hectic household. You should have experience being a hands-on professional nanny/household assistant. You will be working:

Household assistant responsibilities include: taking dogs to the vet, working with household contractors, coordinating schedules with other people who work in the household, helping keep mom's and kid's calendars, sorting mail, helping with holiday gifts, wrapping, assisting with birthday parties, etc.
The best person for this job has worked in a busy household and been responsible for a lot of details. Manhattan experience is a plus. Needs to be good with the computer. Additional hours are possible for the right person. Please be very mature, happy, trustworthy and wonderful with children. Have great references. Salary is $15 per hour.
