We are looking for people to participate in a research study sponsored by the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH.
This study is investigating serotonin receptors in the brain of people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) compared to healthy control subjects for research purposes. The study uses two brain-imaging procedures called positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Both procedures take scans (pictures) of your brain. The images are not used for clinical or diagnostic purposes. All information will be kept completely confidential.
BENEFITS AND RISKS OF PARTICIPATING:

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
• In general, healthy subjects between the ages of 18 and 55 are eligible to participate. However, for scientific reasons, we match our healthy subjects to the OCD subjects who have completed the project to date.

SAILING PROGRAM MANAGER (Battery Park)
Over the past couple years the New York Harbor Sailing Foundation has worked hard to create a fun and educational way for young kids and teens to learn to sail in New York Harbor. Currently, the New York Harbor Sailing Foundation offers a couple sailing options. For younger kids, the Foundation has a program called Operation Optimist, which consists of ten optimist dinghies and is designed to teach kids how to sail over the course of the summer. With the program selling out every year before summer even begins, we are looking to expand the program from ten to at least twenty optimist dinghies.
For the teen sailors, the Harbor Foundation offers a Laser and Sunfish program, which is currently offered only on the weekends. The Foundation is looking to grow both programs and to have them run throughout the summer. With the addition of several new Lasers just this year, which has increased the fleet to ten Lasers, the Foundation will be focusing on how to expand and create a summer long Laser and Sunfish program. The Harbor Foundation’s ultimate goal is to have a total of 40 kids and teens sailing in New York Harbor around the Statue of Liberty next summer through the 3 programs that will be offered. The Foundation is looking to accomplish this by raising money through fundraising and tuition. Specifically, we measure how much someone blinks in response to a loud, startling noise (a method for measuring something called pre-pulse inhibition), and we give you several computer tasks. All information will be kept completely confidential.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
• Persons between the ages of 18 and 55 who have OCD as their primary problem and are not currently on any psychiatric medications or hormonal birth control may be eligible.
• Subjects must be able to travel to the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University at 1051 Riverside Drive (at 168Street) in Manhattan and must not be pregnant.
COMPENSATION FOR PARTICIPATION:
There are no direct benefits to participating in this study, therefore, healthy individuals are compensated $100 and one $10 Metrocard upon completion of one visit. An additional $50 is paid for the completion of extra computer tasks.
PROCEDURES:
1. Screening by phone.

This study is investigating serotonin receptors in the brain of people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) compared to healthy control subjects for research purposes. The study uses two brain-imaging procedures called positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Both procedures take scans (pictures) of your brain. The images are not used for clinical or diagnostic purposes. All information will be kept completely confidential.
BENEFITS AND RISKS OF PARTICIPATING:
Participants are compensated for their time. Please call us to discuss in more detail the benefits and risks of participating.

Columbia University is looking for persons 18 years or older with asthma that are interested in participating in a study of the role of genetics in the effectiveness of asthma medications.

The job is:
60% cleaning/housekeeping/organizing (this includes cleaning the apartment, laundry, ironing, errands, grocery shopping) AND some light cooking.
40% childcare (sharing responsibility with me for picking up the kids at school, taking them to after school activities/playdates, playing with them, bathing them, making dinner, etc.).
The right candidate has a “can do” attitude, and knows how to strike the right balance between housework and child care (our children are in school every day, five days a week until 3 or 4 pm). You need to be able to work fast and efficiently, have a genuine love of children and excellent judgment.
You should be an excellent cleaner as you will clean earlier in the day when the kids are in school (we have a washing machine/dryer in our apartment.). We like the apartment kept neat and organized.
You must have flexiblibilty. This job will include one or two nights/week babysitting included in the weekly salary (the days you sit, you will come in later in the day). MOst days you will not need to start until noon-we will consider someone that can start at 1 or 2 in the afternoon as well.
You need to be able to get around Manhattan easily and your English must be very good. Drivers license a BIG plus.
We need someone who is comfortable with a variable schedule. Hunt for helicopter landing sites - $20/hour+ (Bronx and Brooklyn)
Can you help me find a spot to land my helicopter when I fly down to Manhattan for occasional visits? I’m based in Boston and am looking for a landing spot which is closer than the airports. (The helipads in Manhattan are very convenient, but do not encourage overnight parking.)
Helicopters can land on any private property with the landlord’s permission. We have identified some prospective landing sites on empty lots next to warehouses in the Bronx and Brooklyn. We will send you a map with these marked so that you can visit each site. My company will send you an introductory letter which will explain what we are looking for to the person you speak with. You should get the name of the owner/decision maker and the name/address/phone number of the business.
The sites in each Borough are all close to one another, so the total time spent should be about 30 minutes per site. A target hourly rate of $20/hour would result in a rate of $10/site visit. We will pay double that ($20/site visit). A visit is defined as successfully obtaining business information enabling us to establish contact with the owner/decision maker. A visit counts even if the owner says no. You could earn significantly more than $20/hour.

We are looking for people to participate in a research study sponsored by the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH.
The study will create a DNA collection from over 2,000 people to permit scientists to search for OCD-related genes. Identifying genes that contribute to OCD may lead to the development of better treatments for OCD.
YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PARTICIPATION IF:
• You are between the ages of 18 and 60.
• You have been told by a doctor or other health professional that you have obsessions and compulsions.
• You have close two biological relatives (parents or siblings) who might also be interested in helping with the study
IF YOU VOLUNTEER AND ARE ELIGIBLE:
• You will be interviewed about your personal and family mental health history. Interviews can be completed in your home or at our medical center.
• You and your parents will be asked to give a blood sample for DNA. This can be done in your home or at our medical center.
