Hey,

I have a HP Pavilion 780n Desktop PC here.I origionally got this computer for college dorm use. I recently bought a new desktop and have no need for this one. It runs great, have had no problems. I bought it in 2004. It has rewritable drives/recordable drives for CD and DVD purposes and an extra cd-rom drive so you can copy from one disk to another. It has a floppy drive and several usb ports so you can hook up external devices. I often use it for ipod and external hard drives. It currently has Windows XP Professional on it and a Intel P4 processor. I do have all the disks and books that came with the computer and all origianl equipment.

This is a grteat first time computer if looking for a starter computer or a computer to send your kids to school with...it has the bare necessities and more such as Microsoft Office, Media Player, DVD and CD writer and Internet browsers.........i think this would be a great computer to start out with because although it has the necessities it can be upgraded to fit your needs and it is affordable as far as name brand desktops go. Also there is room for expansion inside the computer tower itself so if you are into that sort of thing there is room to do so. For example add more memory, viedo crads, etc etc. It is great as is or you can "soop it up"

Bought this laptop new in 11/08. It was used by my sister for college for a year and my parents for the last few months. They had a bunch of viruses and spyware slowing down their computer so I reinstalled it with Windows 7 the other day.
It was working fine until the battery ran out yesterday. Now the computer doesn't recognize that a power cord is connected to it, so something is either wrong with the power cord or power connector. I'm pretty sure that the rest of the computer is fine since it boots up for a few seconds with the battery in and then turns off, but will do nothing if I take out the battery when there was a little power left in the battery. Now that there is no barely any juice left in the battery, the battery indicator light just blinks when I try to power it on. Again, it was working fine until the battery ran out.

The power cord was previously replaced a while back and it only costs $10 on eBay.

I'm getting a new laptop for the parents so I'm selling this one AS-IS and don't want to deal with it anymore. If the problem is just the cord, then you get a nice modern laptop for ~$265 or if the connector is the problem and you can fix it, it's just $250. Price is negotiable and I will not ship the item. I will not accept any returns since I've already described all the problems I know of. It will come with the laptop and power cord only. A fresh installation of Windows 7 is currently installed but it originally came with Windows Vista, of which the restore files are on the hard drive still (in it's own bootable partition).

1 - PS/2 mouse port (green). This port is for a PS/2 mouse.
2 - SPDIF coaxial out port. This port connects to external audio output devices with coaxial cable connectors.
3 - IEEE 1394 port. This 9-pin IEEE 1394 port provides high-speed connectivity for audio/video devices, storage peripherals, PCs, or portable devices.
4 - LAN (RJ-45) port. This port allows connection to a Local Area Network (LAN) through a network hub.
5 - Rear Speaker Out port (black). This port connects to the rear speakers on a 4-channel, 6-channel, or 8-channel audio configuration.
6 - Center/Subwoofer port (yellow orange). This port connects the center/subwoofer speakers.
7 - Line In port (light blue). This port connects a tape, CD, DVD player or other audio sources.

Clearing the BIOS settings
CAUTION: Do not change any jumper setting while the computer is on. Damage to the motherboard can result.
This motherboard has jumpers to:
Clear the Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM in CMOS.
Disable password checking.
In the default (normal) position the jumper is on pins 2-3.

Clearing CMOS
To clear CMOS, follow these steps:
Temporarily set jumper CLRTC to pins 1-2.

Wait 5-10 seconds and then return the jumper to pins 2-3.
When you startup the PC you will need to enter BIOS setup to reset any custom BIOS settings.
Clearing the BIOS password
The BIOS password is used to protect BIOS settings from unwanted changes. If you have forgotten your password you may disable password checking.
To erase the BIOS password follow these steps:
Turn OFF the computer and unplug the power cord.
Locate the jumper labeled Clear P.W. The jumper is found at the lower right edge of the motherboard, near the SATA connectors.

Move the jumper on jumper Clear P.W. to pins 1-2.

Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
Hold down the F1 key during the startup process and enter BIOS setup to change or clear the password.
After changing or clearing the BIOS passwords, remember to reset the jumper to pins 2-3.

I used it once or twice, then switched to linux and didn't feel like trying to make it work. it's been packed away for a few months and I just don't have a use for it! I got it because it's really neat looking and I thought I could figure out something to do with it but in reality I haven't yet and I probably never will.

it works with windows xp, vista, and 7. I hooked it up to three different computers to make sure. it works just as well as when I first got it. sells for $25 new.
it comes with the camera, the stand, and the install cd. I lost the box and it didn't come with instructions, it's pretty foolproof.
