Regular Pet Sitter (Sacramento)

Hi all

My dog Butters is in need of a regular pet sitter to stay with. I'm hoping to go on some extended trips next year and the idea of putting him in a kennel for that time doesn't seem right at all to me. I'd like to know he's with someone who will treat him as one of their own in my absence. He's a big dog, 100 pounds, has some very interesting coloring and is all around a pretty laid back dog.

I'm not sure how useful the next bunch of information is since everyone thinks their "fluffy" is a perfect angel so perhaps I don't see all his flaws but here's what I think anyone potentially interested in him should know:

The Good
1) Beings that he's a big dog I made sure to train him to be very patient. I can grab food out of his bowl while he's eating, even if it's a special treat of some kind. I can push him out of the way or even repeatedly tap him on the head while he's chewing. I've seen him take a bite from a German Shepard and calmly walk over to me with her hanging on looking at me like "Will you get this thing off me?" This patience extends to little kids love to tug and pull as well as puppies that love to bite.
2) He will never gouge himself on kibble so I just keep the bowl filled and he manages his appetite on his own. Treats are a different story. :)
3) He knows the commands, sit, stay, wait (even when treats are involved) and "go pee". I've raised him as an indoor dog, though, if you only have outdoor availability that's fine as long as there's a dry warm place for him.
4) He does not bark excessively. If he is startled by an intruder he will let out a few single (very loud) barks.
5) He is house trained.
6) He's a sprinter not a runner. Toss a frisbee about 12 times and he's ready for a nap.
7) He does not dig, nor is he really interested in escaping. The two times he's ended up outside the gate (by accident, both times for several hours) I found him waiting at my front door.

The Bad
1) He will take off after cats and he will not hear anything you say at that point.
2) He is exclusively possessive about squeaky toys. Anything else he'll share/ignore.

As far as payment. I looked around and saw some ads for $30 a night. I am looking for something a bit less. I won't be calling you to watch him overnight (save the first couple visits, see below), my shortest trip I'm planning is 10 days, so I'm hoping someone out there is interested in some kind of "bulk rate". Also those rates include 60-90 minute walks every day which I don't feel are necessary. He gets plenty of attention when he's with me so if he's got some doggie playmates and a few sincere minutes of affection (which shouldn't be hard. he's pretty cute.) along with your own loves should be plenty in my absence. I'd be looking for a rate around $15/day for stays anywhere from 7 days to 20. And $10/day for stays greater than 20 days and of course I would provide his food and cover any unforeseen charges.

Obviously you would need to meet him first and perhaps even bring your dogs over to get to know him. If after the first meet you are still interested I would like to leave him at your place a few times for short term visits to make sure it's a good fit and to get him used to the idea of staying with you. (I'd pay for these of course.)

Experienced housekeeper wanted for full to part-time indoor/outdoor cleaning and lawn/landscape care & maintenance. Will also care for pets and house-sit when we are gone. We have two Great Danes, a large Macaw and no children. Flexible schedule may allow outside part-time employment. Must have reliable transportation.

We want someone who is inherently clean, takes pride in their work and the home they care for and is detail oriented. We cannot stress this point enough. Must be capable of managing a household which includes errands to maintain cleaning supplies, pet food and other supplies as needed. Must be physically able to perform moderate lifting, climbing, mowing and other work around the home.

This is a large (4,500 sq ft) home and requires constant care. We want someone who is experienced (not just cleaning your own house), self-motivated and does not have to be constantly directed. We want someone who is experienced in cleaning, pets, plants and yard work. This can be a very desirable position for the right person, but is not for the unskilled, unexperienced or unmotivated. We have been through 3 housekeepers in the past 6 months because they could not do the job properly.
