hours, originally coupled to a 10 HP 208-440 volt 3-phase electric motor by belts (motor included, but new belts required), 12" x 12" infeed. It has AR (Abrasion Resistant) manganese steel cheek and crash plates and will pulverize wood, rock, plastic, etc., adjustable discharge size down to minus 1/8".  I originally planned to use it with a 45 horsepower Ford 172 diesel motor to serve the need for portable self-powered rock crushing at our gold claim operation, but plans changed. Any gas or diesel motor of about 40 HP or greater should easily power it to full specifications if fully portable operation is desired.

This piece of equipment was purchased originally by Union Oil Company for use in their nitrogen plant in West Sacramento around 1980 to break up urea. It was soon found to clog frequently and was subsequently taken off line where it remained until two years ago when I negotiated for it for my mining operation. Paint has been reduced to a patina of moderate rust, but overall condition of the shaft, bearings, and mechanicals all operate freely and turn easily. Shaft can be driven from either side to accommodate your choice of motor mounting and direction of rotation.

Look at the price of smaller "hobby" rock crushers such as Keene's (around $5000-$7000) and you'll find that while designed for "pilot mill operations" they are not designed for larger volume of processing harder rock such as quartz, diorite, greenstone, cemented gravels, etc., usually as little as several yards before replacement of wear parts such as rollers and wear plates is required. According to Keene's published specifications these parts are considered "consumable and not covered by warranty". Depending on the hardness of feed material this mill should be able to handle yardage approaching and exceeding thousands of yards before wear parts need replacement. Pulverizing of softer materials such as wood, green waste, plastic, glass, etc. should offer far greater operating hours before wear items need attention. As noted before, parts are readily available from Williams for this model at very modest cost.

You will need to fabricate a new base, arrangement for your motor of choice, and infeed structure, so some welding and common sense will be required to render this fully functional. I may be able to offer design consultation and fabrication for your target application for a modest additional charge.

I received the original sales and maintenance records for this mill, and Williams also has the original record of sale, so parts are not a problem if needed. As stated, this mill comes with the original 10 HP 3-phase electric motor. I also have 4-cylinder 20 HP air-cooled gas motors with 12-volt electric start available at extra cost ($450.00) that might serve for lighter

The Lister-Petter TR3A motor is spec'd to run at 1800 rpm, and uses a bit less

than 1.3 gallons of fuel per hour at full load.  According to Lister-Petter in Kansas, the motor serial number indicates 1988 as first use of the first three digits, and 1989 as the likely year of manufacture for the complete plant.  The motor runs strong, smooth, quiet, and smoke-free.  The alternator is a Lima model 3262-0005 with brushless exciter, and is rated (when wired at the generator) 110/240/480/600 VAC, full-load rating of 45 amps, 60 Hz., single or 3-phase, spec'ed
