Georgetown Divide Charter School (Greenwood, CA)

An initiative has begun to start 3 new charter schools on the Georgetown Divide. One will offer on-site/off site classes to homeschooling students. It will also allow the students to compete in sports.

My name is Michael. I have been an avid on looker of CL for the past several weeks. Looking at the help wanted section, the "wanted" section, Barter, all the general info links and everything. Ive been looking for work, and yes I know there are jobs out there for anyone who applies themselves. And please believe me when I tell you....that I have applied myself. Ive been applying, and submitting my resume and application not only here on craigslist, but out of the Penny Saver, the sac bee and the employment guide. Heck, Ive even drove around to submit applications and have gone as far as thumbing through the phone book and simply calling to inquire on wether they may or may not be hiring. I know times are tough, and this economy has a firm grip on us. Thats why ive applied myself and lowered my standards as far as to what types of jobs im applying for. And I mean it literally....Ive applied for any and every job thats out there. But, I have found one fatal flaw when it comes to lowering your standards to obtain gainful employment. Being honest on your application has its drawbacks. I was a division Foreman for a large and very well known construction and engineering company in Sacramento. I had worked with them for several years and had moved up in my pay scale. So when I fill in the blank on what I previously made at my last employer, the potentional person that may hire me explains that their company wouldnt be able to hire me due to the fact that I made to much money, that im over qualified and that if they did hire me that I would be putting that company at risk because I would be more opt to leave them and go to work for another company with better pay. No matter how I explain to them that I wouldnt, nor would I want to leave, that I just desperately need a steady paycheck, no matter what the pay decrease is. To no avail, they wont hire me. I have run into this on numerous occasions. And let me tell you....its extremely frustrating. Its come down to me selling my personal belongings to make ends meet, desperately putting add after add of what services I can offer people at the best possible rates. Doing side jobs for little to almost nothing at all, but still willing to do it just to bring in some kind of income. Im going to lose my house, within a matter of days I suppose, ive ran out of excuses and reasons as to why I cant pay the full amount of rent and that Im not sure when im going to be able to. And its not the homeowners fault, they have bills that need to get payed as well. My utility companies have started their 15day and 48 hour notices to disconnect services. I have approached the human assistance agencies here in Sacramento county to see if they offer any kinda of assistance or support, but get this. It goes back to how much I "made", even though I dont make that kind of money anymore. So, I dont qualify, ive tried repaetedly. I have asked my family for some kind of help, but regreatfully they are in a tight financial spot as well.

So, here goes. My own little add. If you need any kind of home repairs, auto repairs. Landscaping, dump runs, house cleaning or car detailing or absolutely anything, please call or email. I can gaurantee I will be the cheapest.

I have things to sell as well, Digital cameras, antique firearms, laptop computer, Dale Earnhardt SR collectibles, tools and much more.

I can honestly say that I can do just about anything with a professional outcome. Im not asking for handouts, or anything of the sort. just a helping hand up to try and find some work for myself to provide for my family.

The holiday season is a special time of year for children and families, a time filled with excitement and anticipation. Sadly however, many do not have the means to purchase even the most basic holiday gifts. Each winter The Village Project helps fulfill the holiday wishes of more than 500 disadvantaged Families through our Annual Christmas Party for Kids and Families Program.

In order to continue our work we need your support. The Village Project is in a continuing spiral of fundraising to carry out our mission. Will you join us by contributing to this worthy cause? Your contribution in any domination is greatly appreciated.

We need donations of all sorts: Items that may go into Holiday Food Baskets including Hams and Turkeys. We also need: coats, sweaters, gloves, knit hats, toys, bicycles, skates, basketballs, and items of interest to teenagers. This year we will accept gently used and new operable electronics such as: laptops/computers, ipods, cellular phones etc.

Gift Cards, In-kind donations and Voucher donations are always welcome and help by saving space, storage costs, and staff time. We also have sponsorship opportunities.
