The Clinical Research Audit Assistant is responsible and accountable for ensuring that all patients enrolled into Children's Oncology Group (COG) Clinical Trials at Sutter Memorial Hospital meets the Biology, Therapeutic, and Registry protocol eligibility requirements. The incumbent works closely with the Principal Investigators, Pediatric Hematology Nurses, Senior Clinical Research Associates, patients and their families in ensuring proper documentation of the consenting process. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Team Leader collaborates with other services and agencies such as the Conservator's Office, Public Defender's Office, Child Protective Services, Probation Department, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, County Mental Health Services and other Health Service Providers. Flexible work schedules may be required, including evening and weekend hours. 80% of services are provided in the field, requiring the use of a personal vehicle. This position requires 24/7 coverage (including crisis phone line and on-site response) as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Two years of experience providing direct clinical services to people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness, preferably working with persons experiencing serious mental illness
-Experience in providing supervision preferred
-Master's Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited graduate school
-Licensed by the State of California as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker; Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, Licensed Psychologist or Licensed RN with a MSN is required
-Must have valid California driver's license, access to a car for the use of community visits/transporting clients and pass a motor vehicle safety inspection
-Knowledge and ability to use public transportation
-Must possess proof of insurance and receive a motor vehicle record clearance
-Ability to work effectively as a member of a culturally competent multidisciplinary team, a thorough understanding of member rights, an understanding of the conservatorship process, knowledge of basic medical terminology, psychiatric diagnoses, clinical interventions service planning and documentation of services
-Strong communication skills (written/oral); fluency with additional languages a plus
-Document services in a comprehensive manner and basic computer skills are required
-Ability to handle unpredictable schedule, adapt and respond to crises are required
-Applicant must be fingerprinted and receive clearance from the Department of Justice and the Office of Inspector General
-Must have completed first aid and CPR training or obtain certification within four weeks of hire

The incumbent will conduct a thorough nutrition evaluation for each patient, and will serve as the primary employee responsible for patients' nutritional needs. Daily responsibilities also include: supporting patients and staff with guidelines for meal preparations and outings, assisting patients with meal planning and proper portioning, developing and facilitating nutrition groups including utilizing intuitive eating principles. The RD will be expected to attend treatment team meetings, and provide consultation to the rest of the clinical staff. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and have completed an American Dietetic Association internship; and be a registered Dietitian.
- At least one year of experience in eating disorder treatment (minimally)
- Extensive experience in working effectively with patients who have anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder by setting limits and also being compassionate to their situation.
- Extensive knowledge of the dietary needs of individuals with eating disorders as well as the signs and symptoms of medical consequences that is commonly associated with eating disorders.
- Demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic nutrition counseling that involves flexible thinking, clinical judgment, knowledge of behavior change principles, and empathy and compassion.
- Demonstrated experience in providing nutrition counseling across several levels of care for eating disorder treatment (i.e., outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Program, Day Treatment/PHP, residential/inpatient hospital).
- Extensive experience in educating and training colleagues (e.g., psychologists, therapists) on nutritional matters and relating to colleagues in a way that facilitates respectful and collegial work relationships.
- Extensive experience in creating weekly menus for individuals that are tailored to their specific nutritional needs and that take into account patients' readiness for change, ability to manipulate or sabotage progress, etc.
- Experience with the concepts and application of Intuitive Eating and non-diet approaches.
- Experience with weight loss surgeries (pre and post) within a binge-eating disorder population.
- Ability to self-reflect, introspect and have an open mind.
- Having a passion for eating disorder treatment is a plus!
