Oldies Group Needs Bass Player (Rocklin/Roseville)

We are in our 60's - Looking for a bass player (preferably retired and in the same age group) to join two guitarist and a drummer to play gigs in the Rocklin/Roseville area. We play mostly oldies, some country, and Irish sets. Our regular bass player is still a working man and can't make practice and a lot of our gigs. We're not real experienced, but we try hard, and have a lot of fun. Have few gigs coming up in December and January and need a bass player. Worship Team Needs Drummer (Elverta)

My name is Solomon (Sol) Younan, and I'm a classically-trained guitarist, originally from Toronto Ontario, Canada. I am new to the greater Sacramento area, and am currently accepting new guitar/theory students. I am also running new guitar programs at 3 local elementary schools in the area - Edna Batey Elementary, Arnold Adreani Elementary and Franklin Elementary. I have done Undergraduate studies, and I am also an Associate of the Royal Conservatory Of Music Of Toronto (A.R.C.T Dip.-Guitar Pedagogy).

I offer Beginning to Advanced lessons on ALL types of guitar (classical, acoustic and electric), to students of almost any age and skill level. In stressing fun, along with solid fundamentals (technique and theory), my students progress quickly, but in a thoughtful and methodical way. Classic rock band looking for experienced drummer that actually knows some Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Who, Queen and some other various rock songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Must have a good clock, and yes it's a deal breaker. We practice once a week. Looking to do gigs once a month. No drinking and No drugs, which always seems to promote a better attention and retention span when practicing and playing gigs unless you are John Bonham, Neil Pert, Alex Van Halen or Keith Moon. Most all bands and artists ask how, Can they get signed to a major record label?

The question I ask them is: Why do you want to get signed to a major label?

"A THE LABEL CAN MAKE ME/US SUCCESSFUL, RICH AND FAMOUS"

All artists/bands can do the same things independently, that labels can do with a huge staff. It will just take longer and in most causes indie bands make more money and have less headaches. Yes a label can sign you to a deal and give you a big advance. When you get signed to a record deal and get an advance, you are in the red, you start your major label career owing the label money. Now as your project goes along you will become more in debt to the company with production costs to the producers, studio time to both the mixing/mastering engineers, advertising, CD manufacturing cost, marketing expenses, travel expenses, album production and other fees that can land you in debt for more than a million dollars, every dime spent on you is a loan you have to pay back. Everyone else has to be paid before you see any money in the form of a royalty check. Not to mention the label has the authority to reject your music. Not accepting music you submit to be released is common practice.

As a independent artist you have many advantages. Technology and the world wide web has enabled the independent artists to release and promote their music to millions of consumers worldwide. An independent artist can have 100,000 people download one song for 99 cent, that independent artist will see just as much money as the average major label recording artist that sell 500,000 albums with a major label. Remember:

"GOOD MUSIC DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SOLD"

Good music will sell it's self all that music needs is ears to hear the good music. Trust me you move enough units on your own and you decide you would like to try a label deal they will come knocking. Sign up for your digital distribution. There are millions of potential consumers on social sites such as myspace, you tube, twitter and others that is why when you go to them you always see major label artists on those same sites. The only major task you have as an independent artists is to develop music that will appeal to your target consumers. By any means necessary get your music out to the masses.

Pay your dues....The entertainment society will not give you a break....

As A Musician

Do You Have A Manager? (this is someone not in the band)
Who really helps you sell your music? (every one in the band and all your family and friends)
What kind of representation do you have? (you need to have some kind of team with at least 3 non band members)

First:
You need to record at least 5 songs (called an EP) Make sure you get in the studio to have your songs ready, mixed and mastered the way they should be.

Have your copy rights, http://www.copyright.gov, (to prove that the songs are yours to do what you please)

Make sure you have Sound scan, http://www.soundscan.com, need this for each album so get at least 1 number.

Get your BDS encoding, http://www.bdsonline.com (this is what is done to help keep track of how often you are played on the radio)

You need to join one of theses organizations, http://www.ascap.com, http://www.bmi.com, http://www.sesac.com (payment of royalties)

Now you are ready for digital distribution to get your songs on-line. (http://www.songcastmusic.com/affiliate/sc.php?id=681)

Still not done. Send and physical email blast to every email address you have, the link to buy your songs. Ask everyone to send the link to at least 5 other emails that you don't have. This should be done every other day starting on a Sunday for 8 days. Wait a week and then start again. So it should go like this, the first email sent on Sun, Tue, Thu, Sat, Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun etc.

Second:
You must now learn more about the legalities of your music right. Get this book to help you with any other questions you may have.

Bayside Central Church Auditions - Dec. 12 (Roseville, CA)

Bayside Central Church will be adding to our music rotation to kick off the new year.
We are looking for experienced Christian musicians who are wanting to plug into a great and growing church.

This is NOT Bayside Church in Granite Bay. You will not get to play with Linclon Brewster by auditioning (sorry).

This is, however, an excellent opportunity to worship and play with professional musicians. Seriously.

Our style is rock. Anywhere from "Fee" to "Tomlin" to "Switchfoot" to some original material.

Update - I have had lots of interest in this potential band. It appears that my immediate need will be for a drummer. So I would like to hear from you drummers. Thanks.

I would like to find like-minded musicians to play the kind of music I enjoy. I'm interested in a harder-edged blues/rock sound with some traditional and modern blues and a little classic blues rock. I favor groups with two guitar players who can play lead and rhythm (think early Fleetwood Mac, Allman Brothers). I play rhythm, lead, and slide guitar, and can sing some lead and harmony vocals. I may have found a guitar player, so I'm looking for a bassist, drummer, and lead singer/frontman. Age is not a critical factor, but I would prefer playing with people in their 40s to 60s. If you are familiar with Storyville (a fabled band from Austin featuring David Grissom and the Double Trouble rhythm section), then that's where I'm headed. The goal is to play out a couple of times a month in the area. Due to my work schedule, I favor weekend afternoon practices and weekend gigs. I can offer my house in Newcastle for practices, and I have a full PA for practices and gigs.

Cover band needs a drummer (sacramento)

My band needs a drummer. We are just doing cover tunes right now but we will be putting originals together. We play Nickelback, Foo Fighters, 3 doors down, Greenday, Alice In Chains, Puddle of Mudd….etc.
We plan on doing 1-2 gigs a month. We practice together 1-2 times a week at House of Hits. Members will be expected to pay their part of the rent, have transportation, be reliable and have excellent equipment. We are family guys in our late 30’s early 40’s and have been playing for a long time. No major druggies. We are in it to make great music and have a good time.
We have a drum kit already set up in our practice space, so if you are interested we can set up a time to come by and jam with us.

Christian Hardcore Band... (Sacramento)

Hello, my name is Christian and I play drums. I've written some songs and looking for a Guitarist to play these songs with. Basically a jammin' buddy who has all his own gear and is a Christian. I'm looking to start a Spirit-Filled (Christian) Hardcore band. I'd like to be a little outside of the box musically. Experiment with Melodic, Youth Crew and Tough Guy Hardcore with a mix of Pop-Punk. I play drums for Your Pain My Victory & Hands Of Hope, but looking for something more carefree and different. Musicial Influances for this project are... Band with stage, studio, and touring experience needs a drummer with an electronic drumkit or v-drums. Most of our songs have a few different drum tracks, and the sounds change from song to song. So we need someone who has a kit that can trigger sampled drum sounds, and who can also preferably layer in recorded loops over live play and keep time with a click. The style of our music is a mixture of rock, industrial, metal, alternative, pop, trance, drum & bass, and experimental noise. Our sound is like nothing else out there, but very catchy and powerful.
