Hey people! I am looking for individuals that are like me! Caring, Giving and Fun! I am looking to start a youth group/Serivce Group/Crew. Call it what you want but here is what I am going for.
I want to start a group of young individuals 18-25yrs old to go out and do a service event once a month. This could be helping an elderly person or just doing something basic like Habitat for Humanity or helping the Ronald Mcdonald House. Not sold yet? This is a great way to meet new friends, do something good for a change, and even get out to have some fun!
I was thinking once we get bigger, like have a lot of members, we can even get cool shirts and collect a small fee for dues to like host a bar-b-q or something fun every month. Anyways, this is just an idea, in the mean time....I want to get this group up and started. So who is with me!!!????
Like I said, I want it to be younger people so anyone from 18-25 years old is the age group I am thinking would make a good fellowship. I was broke, my credit cards were over the limit, I couldn’t make the minimum payments, and my balance was going up faster than I could pay it down. My mortgage was behind, they were calling night and day, my truck payment was also late, you name it and I was late paying on it. I was working all the time, but it was clear that I was never going to catch up. I see other people’s homes, cars etc., and wonder how they did it, how come I wasn’t blessed, how come they had everything, nice house, nice car, weekends at the lake, travel, etc. You know that all this made me depressed, I knew that working at what I was doing and trying to get something else, was crazy, it wasn’t going to work, I was on the treadmill, rat race, whatever you want to call it, I was spiraling down.
She helped Me.
I go to the gym as much as possible, and one day this lady trainer said, “Why don’t you look at this?” My first reaction was, No way, I didn’t say it, but it was my first thought. In the past I had done other things to make extra money, sold stuff to family and friends, lost some friends over this and pissed off some family. It’s like I was trading our friendship for money, I should have just ask for a loan, which I couldn’t pay back, so what difference did it make? So, I just said, “No I’m fine, glad it’s going good for you”, hiding my lack of income embarrassment, she continued on, and as she talked, all I could think of was what kinda B.S., pyramid, scam, rip off thing was she saying. I was into this type of thing before, and it never works; only the guys at the top make money, I saw their checks, 4 and 5 digits for one month. I could use at least 4 digits extra a month, but I wasn’t going to fall for this again. I still have soap stuff, vitamins and some other stuff I forgot what it was and what it did. I joined up with these other companies before, exactly for the same reason, to get the checks, but I knew it wasn’t going to work, it was just a dream, and I lost and they made. These people weren’t educated, had no money to invest in a franchise, or any other talent, but they had the checks. It just sat in the back of my mind, how could I really get this to pay me? Beside I didn’t even know what it was, I just knew I needed some extra bucks, and all I had to do was listen to a presentation, which I didn’t have time for either. So I ask her a couple of questions, just to prove that it wouldn’t work just like the others, and I wouldn’t have to waste my time “listening to a presentation”.

I fired away, one after the other, question after question, she would bob, I would weave, two prize fighters, going for the gold. It was cool, I had her, but then I listened a little, she said I didn’t have to sell anything! Wait this is America, I didn’t have to sell anything, how can anyone make money and not sell something? Now I was curious, it couldn’t be true, no selling, and no inventory, (that means I didn’t have to buy stuff and keep it forever in the garage). O.K., no selling, no inventory, no employees, no quotas, no boss, at this point I was ready to hear a presentation. That’s when I needed more, could this be the solution?

Was this the solution to my problem, could this be it? Well not yet, I just wanted to see what this group had, was it real, and could I do it? I mean solve the problem. She asked me that if I could make money from the stuff I buy already, would I be interested? I said, you mean that the stuff I use every month from who? I know that I use a lot of stuff each month and I don’t have just one store I go to, so “How does this work?” Basically it’s just being your own distributor, you know like the authorized dealers who sell you your cell phone. You know the guys at the mall, you buy a cell phone and they sign you up, or at Wal-Mart and they sign you up, but the fact is, each time you renew, extend or sign up for the first time, the authorized distributor gets a cut, and each month when you pay your cell bill, he gets a cut also. “But I don’t want to change my cell service,” no you missed it, you just extend the existing contract you have now, but under your name and authorized distributorship number, that way you are now your own middleman. “You see,” she said, “that our company has contracted with over 1300 other companies, where we become the authorized distributor.” “You mean I get paid for stuff I buy already from over 1300 companies?” “Yes”, she said, and you get paid from everybody else who does it with you, people you show this business to.” The list of companies is huge, and brand name, she gave a web site to check out, www.fhtmus.com/lisapol, but I had one more question, “why?” Why would these companies pay us to do this?, and she explained it to me, all these companies pay for advertising, they buy T.V., direct mail, newsprint, etc., and flood every avenue they can, with as much information about their stuff. You know what you do with the mail ads’ when they come, and you can skip over the commercials these days with Tvo, and the newspaper has become less used daily because of the internet. The only problem these companies have with these forms of advertising is that their studies show they don’t produce loyal customers, only about 66% of the same customers come back, they loose one third, and a lot of money. Our company has a 99% customer retention rate, because people are loyal to themselves. Now it was beginning to make sense, at least the how can I make money without selling stuff? She continued on, about residual income, bonuses, travel, etc. and then I asked her if I could go to a presentation. This is the way of the future, she said, and I was ready to believe it!

This company was founded to help people, people like me, and people like you. They have been growing every year, since 1991, and just last week they had their biggest week so far. A lot of San Antonio residents are a part of this, but also people in Canada, U.K. and other countries. Like the Bible says “It’s better to give than to receive,” helping others is a tremendous reward. If you would like to help three other people, come to a presentation and hear a little bit more. It has taken me several presentations to get a better understanding of how this works, but I have found out that the other people involved here in San Antonio, help each other also. Attention San Antonio Foodies, Cook Here and Now, a sustainable cooking group that has been written up in Food and Wine Magazine in the November 2008 issue (google it if you want!) is now opening in the San Antionio area. Here is a list of what we do and what we are about...anyone can join, just bring a passion for food, a great attitude, punctuality, and dependability and you'll meet other foodies who support the use of local, seasonal ingredients to cook meals together.
Our Mission: To organize community cooking events at least once a quarter using local ,seasonal produce and meats purchased from farmers markets in our area and/or orgainically grown-the more local the better, and even Whole Foods has great selections!
When we meet: Before leaving for France to cook, Shannon Kimball the organizer of the Austin events (a new chef) had cooking groups every three months. She now lives in San Antonio and has expanded participation for this area. We will meet every three months, or even monthly like our founders chapter in San Francisco if we recieve more participation. We usually have met on Saturday evenings around 6pm-10pm, but may go to Sunday afternoons instead-depending on schedules of attendees.
What to bring: It's easy, all you need to do is subscribe to the feed on the right hand side of the website at www.cookhereandnow.com/austin and when Shannon posts the dinner date about two weeks in advance, with the meat selection, and seasonal produce selection you sign up for a dish, appetizer, main, desert, or for you non-cookers-local wine and beer! Once we have a full event (25 people) the event is closed and we meet again the next time.

Hello Ladies, let me tell you about my internet support group for women that have made the decision to lose weight. To live a healthier lifestyle.
I've been losing weight since last summer, when I finally, after a lifetime of up and down, made the decision to change. I've lost 40 pounds but more importantly, I've changed my eating habits.
Using facebook because it's free and affords ease of use, I've created a group page for women in this area, and some friends across the country (that support via internet) to use so we can support each other in our quest to lose those pounds, to go walk, work out, stay on track. In my lifetime, I've discovered that support is probably the most important thing as far as staying on course. That's what my vision is, a group of women sharing their hopes, their support, their eating habits and coming together in all sorts of ways. Local members having others that they might be able to go walk with, work out with, meet with. Ultimately, my goal is have enough members so that we can meet on occasion and just have a ladies night out.
Although I'm a man, this is not a singles group or men's group. It's just that I've always been more comfortable around women than men. Not that I'm not a man, I indeed am, but I enjoy the company of women.
I walk daily at the track at UT health science center (on Babcock) and am more than willing to meet with anyone to walk. At almost any time.
Because it's so difficult to park around there, I suggest meeting at McDonalds right there at Babcock and Wurzbach. It's just a short walk to the track.
Currently, we have about 20 members, some that don't live near by. They are interested in healthy living, fitness and so forth, and they offer support via the group page. It's going to be a wonderful thing.
Any age ladies, any race, we're all in this battle together.
Just respond, and take 5 minutes to set up a facebook page if you don't have one. You do not have to put any personal info up on Facebook to have a page.
