Need a bassist? (Centre County)
Here's the scoop:
I'm a self-taught bass player. I know a little bit about music theory that can get me through your basic 12-bar blues progressions. I am pretty good at faking anything else. I've aspired to play in a cover band with a friend, but as the days grow long, I've discovered that inspiration has only gone as far as their next shift.
I like energy music, and am inspired by classic rock artists such as Zeppelin, Bowie, and Hendrix. I admire the bass stylings of James Jamerson on various Motown numbers.
Basically what I am saying is that I'm a bassist for hire. I've never been in a band before, but I'm tired for holding my services for stoners/and/or wannabes who will still be living at home this time next year.
If you are a guitarist who likes rock/Motown, please reply.
I can probably fill in at your gig if you are like the average band in this area, as well.
But I'm looking to start a band with a blues/rock base and a heavy R&B foundation
Let me know what you think. I am open to anything!
I am also of the mindset that a Zep/Hendrix cover band can do wonders in our local market. It all depends on what you guys are up to. If you need a rock bassist that is tired of the usual crap in the area, drop me a line! Either reply to this e-mail or reply directly to canopener505@yahoo.com
If you are for real, drop me a note that would indicate otherwise. Show me what you have for me to work on...
PS, I have my own equipment. I have two 100W combo amps that also have external jacks. I can pretty much get any sound that you are looking for. Again, just let me know. Just pardon the fact that I've never been in a band before. I'm waiting and willing...
singer looking for band (State College)
Hey whats up guys, 21 year old singer looking for musicians. I've been in a few bands befores. I've recorded a demo and a cd before so i have recording experience. Generally i'm looking for like minded musicians who want to write originals, hell i'm down with starting with covers to just get a feel. I'm open to most genres but especially love, 90s rock, grunge, ska, punk, hard rock, power pop and jazz. I'm kind of just looking to get with like minded musicians and just jam and see what progresses from there. I got space to practice as well.
If this seems cool to anyone else just hit me back. i'd love to play some music
Tenor Sax looking to Rehearse/Gig (Lewisburg-Selinsgrove Area)
I'm a tenor sax player. I'm looking to rehearse with other experience people, pick-up new tricks, gig and hopefully earn a little extra money. I can play jazz and funk, rock and blues.
Looking for metal musicians
I'm not really sure exactly how to go about this, I haven't used this website much, but figured that I would give ti a try. I am a singer currently living in State College, Pa, and am looking for musicians looking to start up a metal band. Some of my influences are Hatebreed, Pantera, Sepultura, Megadeth, Mudyane, Hellyeah, Devildriver, Dope, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mushroomhead, and Type O Negative. I like far more than I can list, but that's the best basis that I can come up with. I am interested in doing something towards those bands or styles. I am highly motivated, and would like only serious inquiries please. And please, no Emo, Screamo, Whining, Radio Rock, Pop/punk, or anything resembling Nickelback. I'm looking to start a real, true metal band. This will be my first band, but I've been singing for many years. I also have family members that have been in bands and played locally, as well as nationally, and including on television, and so I know a lot of about the music industry, and the local music scene. With the family and friends that I have, I can also guarantee shows once the band would get enough material to play a set. So, anyone in and around the State College area, who is honestly looking to start up a real band, please contact me.
Looking for other musician to jam with (State College, PA)
I've been playing guitar for around 3 years now and I know a thing or two about music theory. However, I don't have much experience actually playing with other people, so I'd like to try and find somebody who is around my experience level and also looking to improve their playing skills. I'm looking for pretty much any musician, so you don't need to be a guitar player. Drums, bass, piano, violin, saxophone, or whatever would be fine. Contact me if interested.

Seeking Music For Indie Film
I posted before, but we've moved forward and have a more specific message.
Got a full length romantic comedy in the can (2nd cut done), and I'm submitting the score and soundtrack in about 10 days (not much time). I am seeking bands/singers/songwriters to submit original songs for consideration for the score and/or soundtrack.
We just finished the trailer and thought you should take a look. We're very excited how it turned out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M38owYqs85o
The song used in the trailer was one of the submissions just like yours. Still plenty of opportunity, but mostly so for specific custom songs in the following subjects.
Topics are: sad love-lost song (she moved away), and few quirky happy love songs (a-la moldy peaches) and even some odd balls about cereal, being lazy, crossing guards, book stores, mailmen, having a baby, reading books, writing books, mac & cheese, roller skating, swimming pools, sleeping till noon, milkshakes, bad driving, long drives, learning to drive, taking a bath, getting ready for a date, cologne, ...
Emphasis on absurdity, uniqueness in rhythm and/or melody and happy. Happy is key. Moldy Peaches, Bon Iver, Shins, Bright Eyes, Dirty Projectors, Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse, etc. are the emotions, depths and sounds we're looking for.
Any and all ambient, instrumental songs, sounds, clips would be considered as well. Film scores are a complex puzzle that works best when there are lots of pieces.
If any of your songs made it into even a rough cut, I'll be in touch to let you know, as well as mail you a copy.
Also, if you'd like to get more involved in the project and collaborate on the creation and production, I would welcome your participation. I have a studio in my home just outside State College. Actually, my whole home is a studio.
Thanks again, and be in touch,
Max
Oh, also, we have a call for a very specific song for one particular scene which you can check out online.

Scene from 99 Percent Sure that will feature a 2:30 song
http://vimeo.com/7386306
"This song will also be on the Sound Track.
If, musically, you could do something to the song to reflect that he changes tapes (tempo change, key change, change change), not only would that be cool, but would prove to the world that you are a musical genius.
Be crazy, be creative, be brave and be awesome."

Amature Musicians Looking to Jam (Penn State Campus)
Hi All,
I am a freshmen here at PSU. I've been playing the guitar for about 4-5 years now. I'm not the best by any means, but I consider myself above the level of "novice". I have never played with other musicians before. I brought an acoustic guitar with me to school (sorry, I don't have an electric). If any other players of any instrument are interested in just getting together and jamming sometime that'd be great! You don't need to be rock star or anything... I'm not either. I'm interested in all types of music and would be willing to play anything. Anyways, shoot me an email if your interested in getting together to play sometime!
-Charlie
guitar player (moshannon)
looking to meet and jam with (on a regular basis) other players; guitar, bass, drums, vocals, steel guitar, etc. i prefer raw electric blues, traditional country (merle, marty stuart, willie), country rock (commander cody, nrps, flying burrito bros.)and of course rock. i'm 52, have good equipment & a small practice room with a Line6 interface for digital recording. i'm a very mellow person, and flexible with material you might want to try. for those of you who don't know, moshannon is about 25 miles from state college, exit 147/snowshoe on I-80 (5 miles from snow shoe). best case scenario is we form a band & gig, worst case scenario is we form a band & jam several times a month for our own pleasure. i love music and want to play with others, if this sounds good to you drop me a line.
