Bichon (State College)

Shy but sweet Bichon/ Lhasa-Apso ('Lhasa-Chon'), 20lbs. 1-year-old.

Neutered, current on vaccines, de-wormed, frontline treated monthly, heart worm tested negative and vet checked healthy.
He will come with his crate, his food bowl, his 'hidey' tent, his baby rocker (he loves to sit in this), his collar and leash, his chew toys, his treats, a bag of his food and his soft toys and bedding to help him transition to his new home. If you don't wish to take some of his belongings, that's okay.

We rescued this dog from unsanitary conditions and spent a lot of money getting him into shape with the means of adopting him into a loving and safe environment. He was in a situation that was not caring for him the way he deserves to be and we just couldn't leave him there. We spent our time and money getting him into shape and used to being in a family environment. Now we want him to go to that perfect home.

As far as what we have had done- we had his umbilical hernia surgically fixed, got him neutered, had him given all shots including his rabies, had him wormed several times, had him heart worm tested negative, we have frontline flea/tick treated him monthly and treated him for ear mites and checked intestinal parasites. He is now in PERFECT health.
We have groomed him several times and would be happy to do that for you in the future, if you so desire!

He LOVES other dogs and kids. He absolutely adores cats. He is a little afraid of men and strangers. Very gentle, wouldn't hurt a fly, just hides if nervous but is getting much better. He now knows his name and responds to it well. He is doing very well with housebreaking and is great in a crate overnight (although he loves to sleep in bed with us).
He needs a home that has patience to understand he is still a little afraid of people and will take his time to become attached to you. He has come out of his shell A LOT with us but his new home needs to understand he will be nervous and not very playful, only at first. Somebody who is home all day would be the perfect person for him! Other pets in the home would make him very happy but it's not a must.
The main thing we want for him is a home where he will be spoiled rotten and one that will send us updates so we can see him happy.

Whose cat is this? (Southgate Drive)

Hello all,

Since I've moved in to Southgate Drive this fall, I've noticed a gray hat wandering around the buildings. I'm not sure if it's male or female, but I do know some basic descriptions:

• Soft gray color

• Young adult cat

• Striking orange eyes

• Polydactyl in the front paws

This cat wears no collar and is extremely skittish, running at the approach of anyone. It does not respond to calls, though it will eat treats off my back porch as long as I am "not there". I have not been able to take a picture of the cat.

It is a beautiful cat who appears to be well groomed but is often roaming the neighborhood without a collar! I am considering calling the PSPCA to have them take the cat in to be housed somewhere- but I want to make sure it's not someone's pet that is not wearing tags.

Please, if this is your pet, let me know and PUT TAGS ON THEM. If you know any information, let me know. I'm not trying to take away anyone's pet, just trying to keep a cat from the winter cold if it is indeed a stray.

RES Turtles Up for Adoption (State College)

Asterix is a boy turtle and he is approximately 7 years old. He is very friendly and he came to live with us in Oct. 2007. Asterix loves our cats and finds them very entertaining.

Asterix is currently in an approximately 30 gallon tank with an enclosure built around his tank that sits on a desk. When we clean his tank we take him out and place him in either his 10 gallon tank or a Rubbermaid container that we transport him to the vets in. Asterix isn’t too fond of other turtles since he’s been alone since he was a baby.

Asterix is a very cool turtle especially when he is crawling around on top of his enclosure. He loves attention and to be talked to.

Yurtle is our female turtle. She is approximately 4-5 years old. She is a rather shy turtle but loves to eat. We feed our turtles 3 times a week and they get lettuce throughout the week. Yurtle loves the cuttle bones that you can get for birds to sharpen their becks on. Yurtle has her own tank and she has been that way since 2006. Yurtle isn’t a great swimmer, but when you toss in a few feeder fish she becomes this whole other turtle and swims like crazy to eat those feeder fish.

Yurtle is a pretty large turtle that would require at least a 55 gallon tank. She is overall friendly but doesn’t like to be picked up much. She is fine with you cleaning her tank while she is in there.

We really want to find the right home for Yurtle and Asterix. I would like to find someone that can provide the care to them that I’m no longer able to do. Yurtle & Asterix are Red Eared Slider Turtles. There is an adoption fee for both turtles. Please e-mail me with any questions. Serious Inquires Only! Male Lion Head Rabbit 5 months old (Reedsville)

Bun-Bun: male lion head rabbit approximately 5 months old. We have kept him in our living room in a rabbit habitat. We let him out of his cage in the evenings and he explores the house. He is very curious and loves to climb on top of stools and boxes. We will be glad to provide his cage, feeding accessories, outdoor playpen, along with his favorite bed and toys. We are hoping whoever takes him will continue to house him indoors.

Since when is $800 a "small rehoming fee"? You people trying to sell your expensive birds don't belong on Craigslist. I'm not saying that's an inappropriate price for such a bird, but Craigslist is not the right venue. Follow the rules.

Bluetick Coonhound/Blue Heeler Mix (NE Philly)

Enjoy hiking, running, walking, playing sports??  This may be your perfect companion.   In conjunction with the PSPCA, we are looking for an owner/family to give a good home to Beckett, a 1 yr. male who is a unique combination of Blue Tick Coonhound/Blue Heeler mix.  He is high energy and needs lots of exercise/activity/stimulation. He is intelligent, so he is easily picking up basic commands such as sit/down/stay/wait/heel. He still needs some leash manners since he gets over excited (howls) when he sees another dog he would like to meet. He has been great with my 5 yr. old daughter. He does exhibit his *herding instinct* when excited but this is easily stopped with a quick *NO!*. He enjoys walks with his backpack, walking on our treadmill (yep!), soccer matches (he loves to *herd* the ball), playing hide and seek in the house and fetching a ball or frisbee. We think he would excel in disc throwing or agility. He would do well with an active household with room to run around and an owner who will not leave him alone day after day. What happened to Patches? (Seibert Rd)

My kitten, Patches, had some sort of trauma when we weren't home. Most likely, someone hit her with their car while traveling on Seibert Road. Patches is small with brown, white, and black markings. Her back leg is broken in two places and needs to be amputated. My son is heartbroken.

If you saw anything, please drop me a note. I'm not looking to press charges or anything, it was just an accident, but I'm trying to figure out what happened to her and when it happened.

Someone dropped off a kitten on my porch several weeks ago. I got her vetted and treated her for fleas, ear mites, and ear infection and got her first set of shots. If you are over 18 and interested in helping to train Search and Rescue dogs the Working K9 Association of Central Pennsylvania (WKACP) could use your help! We will show you how to lay a track or how to assist us with air scenting dogs. No dog necessary....we just need you to hide for our dogs. You get to have a lot of fun and learn what goes into training these kinds of working dogs.

Once you have the basics down, if training your own dog is something you would like to do the WKACP can help you locate a dog to work with yourself, or the WKACP can test your own young dog if you think he/she has what it takes (strong nerves (doesn't scare easily)., high play drive, play tug / fetch all day / high socialability / excellent obedience) . We will also help you prepare and get certified through a certifying agency.

We train as a group twice a week and we provide K9 resources for Search and Rescue missions throughout Central Pennsylvania. We also do a lot of K9 demonstrations throughout Central Pennsylvania. The WKACP is a professional group and requires that all K9 handlers seek certification thru recognized K9 certifying organizations. Criminal background check and health insurance are required so that everyone involved is safe. The WKACP is a family and we are looking for team players!

Fonda’s Foundlings, a local organization that specializes in rescuing stray cats and kittens, is holding an adoption event at Petco in State College, PA this weekend in hopes of finding homes for 39 kittens.

The “Kitten Extravaganza” comes after the organization captured stray cats in nine local colonies over the summer — many of which were pregnant females, said Foundlings director Shirley Fonda.

The adoption event will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The kittens have been combo tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS, wormed and have received at least their first distemper vaccine. Bichon mix (State College)

Shy but sweet Bichon/ Lhasa mix, 20lbs. 1 1/2 years-old.

Neutered, current on vaccines, de-wormed, frontline treated monthly, heart worm tested and vet checked healthy.

We rescued this dog from appalling conditions and spent a lot of money getting him into shape with the means of adopting him into a loving and safe environment. He was in a horrible situation and we just couldn't leave him there. We want him to go to a home where he will be spoiled rotten and one that will send us updates so we can see him happy.
We had his umbilical hernia fixed, got him neutered, had him given all shots including rabies, had him wormed several times, had him heart worm tested negative, frontline flea/tick treated him monthly and treated him for ear mites and intestinal parasites. He is now in PERFECT health. He did have to be shaved down because of his bad coat so is requiring sweaters this season!

He LOVES other dogs and kids. Absolutely adores cats. He is a little afraid of men and strangers. Very gentle, wouldn't hurt a fly, just hides if nervous.
He is doing very well with housebreaking and is great in a crate.
He needs a home that has patience to understand he is afraid of people and will take his time to become attached to you. He has come out of his shell ALOT with us but his new home needs to understand he will be nervous and not very playful as first. Somebody who is home all day would be the perfect person for him.

She is exceptional with kids and with dogs.
Flower was also dumped when her owners could no longer care for her. She was pregnant (far too young) and had chronic fleas and upper respiratory. You would never know, to look at her now.

She stays with another couple from May to November but they go away in the winter months to Florida.
