Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Building Science Engineer / Project Manager is primarily responsible for providing support to the Division in the areas of: remediation of existing buildings and assistance with the design of new construction - in line with relevant building code, contractual, and best practices. Services include: Building Envelope Condition Assessments (BECAs), technical audits, field reviews for conformance/non-conformance, contract development and administration, capital reserve fund studies, opinion of probable costs, due diligence reports, research and development, building assembly testing, and client services.
As a Building Science Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring quality and consistency regarding your technical decisions. Project Management responsibilities include: project management, coordinating and managing project teams, business development, proposal preparation, contract management, budget/financial management, and client relationship management.
Qualifications
You possess a degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited Canadian University (or equivalent); 2+ years experience as a Building Science Professional and a P. Eng./MAIBC.; OR 4+ years as an EIT with full time experience in Building Science; and are registered or eligible for registration with APEGBC or AIBC. You have proven familiarity and experience with: rain-screen and mass wall construction, hygrothermal theory, below and above grade roofing and waterproofing systems; and for existing buildings: condition assessments, maintenance manuals, and reserve fund studies. For new and existing buildings: field reviews, and shop drawing reviews. You also bring with you project management and consulting engineering experience, marketing and business development capabilities; and strong leadership, supervisory, coaching, and mentoring skills.

Completion of high school and College training in mechanical engineering principles is essential.
