Position Profile:

Reporting to the General Manager, this position will provide ample opportunity for growth within the company and will entail varying technical and business related responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

As an Engineering Technologist, your responsibilities will be to:

• Conduct ViVitro Laboratory services.
• Maintain a GLP compliant laboratory.
• Design and perform experiments meet service request.
• Quickly understand novel technologies and be able to participate effectively in product development.
• Assist management and contract staff engineers with equipment development including: rapidly prototyping designs, evaluating materials, and troubleshooting failures.
• Ability to support process development and process optimization.
• Develop and execute tests for new and improved processes, procedures, and test methods.
• Perform and document complex operational functional testing, troubleshooting of components, subassemblies, and materials.
• Develop and execute training for newly developed processes, test, and procedures.
• Ability to understand engineering drawings.
• Understanding of good documentation practices.
• Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Manage technical assistance requested from clients.
• Manage concurrent projects.
• Manage client expectations and report on project progress regularly.
• Adhere to and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS), including developing and maintaining documentation.
• Any other related duties, as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor in Applied Science or Science.
• 5 years of medical device testing experience working in a regulatory environment.
• Fluid dynamics experience is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of the prosthetic heart valves.
• Understanding of GLP and ISO guidelines to ensure quality is essential.
• Demonstrated experience and capability will be considered in lieu of qualifications.

Position Profile:

A number of contractor and employee positions are available, providing opportunities for a wide range of experience. These positions report directly to the Manager of Product Development. Working on exciting client projects, these positions will provide ample opportunities to grow your skills, knowledge and experience.

In these positions it is critical to communicate effectively with team members in other disciplines as well as new and existing customers.

Responsibilities:

As an Electrical Engineer, your responsibilities will be to:

• Efficiently analyze problems and synthesize your experience and breadth of knowledge of engineering fundamentals into a coherent solution that meets the client’s needs.
• Design and perform experiments to determine the solution space and to select the most appropriate path forward to a great medical device.
• Quickly understand novel technologies and engage with moving them forward towards a product.
• Design, layout, analyze and test great analog and digital circuits as part of the whole solution for the client.
• Cooperate with and understand the design challenges being addressed by other project team members.
• Ensure that products are developed appropriately for the Medical Regulatory Environment.
• Maintain and expand your technical knowledge and skills.
• If appropriate, develop firmware and software that enables the client’s product to succeed.
• Perform other duties as required.

If you have the skills and experience to be considered as a Project Manager, the additional responsibilities would be as follows:

• Interface with Business Development to transfer new activities into the company.
• Prepare and maintain project plans, set/adhere to milestones, deliverables and budgets.
• Manage a limited number of concurrent projects primarily of an electrical scope and consisting of 2 – 3 engineers.
• Ensure that team meetings, project reviews and action lists are kept current and communicated to all stakeholders in a timely fashion.
• Transfer product to Production and provide on-going Engineering support .
• Resource planning in support of staffing decisions and client support.
• Manage client expectations and report on project progress regularly.
• Ensure that budgets are on track and customers are invoiced.
• Adhere to and enhance the Quality Management System (QMS), including developing and maintaining documentation.
• Any other related duties, as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor, Masters or PhD in Engineering, Applied Science or Science.
• 5-15 years of technical experience in Product Development, particularly within a consulting environment, would be an asset
• A background in medicine, biophysics or other biological science would also be an asset
• Demonstrated experience and capability will be considered in lieu of qualifications.
• Enthusiastic recent graduates with a firm grasp of their subject, a demonstrated interest in electronics design and a commitment to work hard while learning will be considered.

Construction inspection and contract administration of municipal infrastructure projects experience will be considered an asset.
