Here are some new faces at Bladen County Animal Control in Elizabethtown North Carolina a small shelter in a very rural part of the state. We just don't get a lot of help from the community so we have to look else where to try and save some lives. MANY of these dogs will be put down next Tuesday especially since its a short week and the shelter will be closed for the holidays. If you can help us by sponsoring a dog, fostering, transporting, adopting or rescuing ...then we would love to hear from YOU!!! Hello! If you are looking for a safe, dependable, nurturing and structured invironment for your child to spend his or her days, you have come to the right place! I have no infant openings at this time. I have 3 full time or possible part time openings for ages 2 and up. Here is a little information about my family and I.

I have been in daycare for the past 13 years. I was a personal nanny for 3 families. (at different times) I worked at the YMCA child care center for 3 years, then my first son was born. (who is now almost 4) At that time I was able to stay home with him for a while. I had been working at the City Corp. Family Center for almost two years. Until the opportunity for my own daycare came along. After we had our second son last October we made the decision to open our own family daycare so that I could instill the educational values in the lives of my own children, and also the children in our community.

We do not smoke. We do have a dog, but during daycare hours she will be in her own fenced in yard. (which is separate from the children's yard.) We have a wonderful fenced in area equipped with a swing set, little tykes jungle gym, picnic tables (for picnics and art projects when the weather permits) water table, sand box, and ride on toys.

Our inside features two rooms specifically set up for the daycare. One room for infant/ toddlers. We have the bouncy seats a jumparoo, Pack "n" play for napping. tons of age appropriate toys, books ect...

Our other room is for older children with baby dolls, dress up clothes, board games, table toys puzzles, trucks, tools, a table for them to work on homework ect...

We are in the Beaver Creek Elementary and also Boonsboro middle school districts. I do take both before and after school, and infants. I have very reasonable competitive rates. I do take part in the Maryland USDA food program we have very tasty yet healthy menus. All meals and snacks are provided.

I have very reasonable rates. hours are 6:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. However I am flexible, so if you need other hours just let me know maybe we can work something out.

I currently am in the process of getting my associates degree in Early Childhood Education. Then I will go on to get my Bachelors. ( that will be no problem for the daycare children, I will be taking night classes.)

RE: Shih Tzu

The person who posted about a Shih Tzu that must go and moving soon is a JERK!

I sent an email requesting details on the dog. The response was "What do you want to know"

There was nothing posted in the listing about the dog and he couldn't take a moment to send basic details. I replied with a sample list of items and expressed my disappointment to have to beg for answers. I wanted the information to make sure the pet would be close to the same age as my existing Shih Tzu...I never even asked what his rehoming fee was because money isn't a concern to me. The Jerk responded a rude message and never provided details. I suspect the ShihTzu is being used to make a few dollars and he has no concern or love for the animal. My heart goes out to Shih Tzu's because they are adorable, loving and devoted furry friends. I am especially sad this Shih Tzu didn't even get a chance to meet me and my family. We own our home, have a large fenced yard and I have a home office for my business. So sad this animal missed out on a wonderful chance to become part of my family because the "lister" wouldn't provide any information on the Shih Tzu.....So if anyone is missing a Shih Tzu contact me and I will forward the email.

Habitat for Humanity of Washington Co. is looking for volunteers to work in the newly opened ReStore. Habitat for Humanity is an organization that builds affordable housing for qualified residents of Washington Co. The Hagerstown Restore (a discount home improvement store), accepts donations of overstocked, discontinued, new or used building materials and household goods donated by local businesses and individuals. These donations are then sold to the general public, at a substantially reduced cost. Proceeds from the ReStore benifit the Habitat for Humanity mission.
Volunteers are needed to help in various areas of store operation. If you can answer phones, assist customers or provide any type of administrative support, we can use your help!
Assistance processing donated material is also needed, including; coordinating donation pick-ups, receiving on-site donations and preparing donated material for the sales floor.

Tonya and Sonya are 1 year old lab/gsd mixes. They were saved from a kill shelter in TN. They are both happy go lucky dogs and very sweet. They are cat safe, kid safe, and they get along with other dogs great. They both weigh about 45 pounds and are in good flesh. They are crate trained. We are not sure if they are house trained because we have not tried them yet. They are good on the leash, but still pull some. We are working with them on that. They are what I could call medium energy dogs. They would do great in a home with an active adopter, or one who has a fenced in yard. The ideal home who actaully be one with a couple of rowdy kids to romp and play with. They are simply beautiful girls. There is not once ounce of meaness in these 2. They love people and have never met a stranger.

They are spayed, current on vet documented vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention. They are both also microchipped. Their adoption fee is $150.00. Our rescue has 8 beautiful boxer mix pups we have saved from the kill shelter. They will be ready to go to their new homes the first week in Dec. They were born Sept 24th. We do not know much about their previous history with the exception their mom was a full blooded boxer. We have no idea what the dad was. With them coming from the pound it really is hard to tell much. These guys will probably finish out at 45 pounds give or take. They are super sweet and love people. They get along good with other dogs and cats. They will be easy to finish potty training. There are 3 girls and 5 boys.

RE: Shih-Tzu and finding homes for your pets.

I am from out of state, visiting my daughter here at Ft Detrick. I love animals, and would so love to find a dog to give a loving home too, so I always watch Craigslist when I'm a home, and have been watching since being here. First of all, even with a fee for animals, you still can't guarantee the home they will receive. I, for one, with the economy, cannot afford to pay a high price for an animal, BUT...I have qualified for a credit card from my vet back home in Indiana (care credit), and they have resonalble rates for vet care, preventative and emergency. So, maybe when looking for homes, you should ask for references, people who know them, their vet, etc. Offer to bring the animal to them for meeting so that you can SEE the surroundings...and do a little background research. Yes, there are scammers and scum out there, but there ARE others like me, who, though they can't afford a steep fee up front for a good, loving, well-behaved, family-oriented dog that they really desire to have as a part of their family, ARE willing to make sure that they are able to care for them. Give us a chance, too.
