I must say that at least you seem to speak with more education then the rest that post here, but truthfully I think you and I are on the same page. I am not saying its right that illegal's are here I am just saying that why must we have so much anger towards them?? Our anger should be at our self's and our government! Oh it's called MONEY and they have a lot at stake and don't care about the rest of the valley, they keep industry out of here because the cost of labor would go up. Check out Tri-Cities and you will see because of Hanford there are a lot more higher paying jobs due to tech industries. It is sad, I have grown up around here and at my age of 52, I have never felt more hopeless about this Valley that I love. People must wake up. We don't need to be mean to these people' after all is not all their fault. You would come to here to for a better life if your country was like theirs. If the U.S. wants to help, send the illegals home (CUT OFF WELFARE NOW) and let them HIRE us American's to come and show them how to fix their country. Right now the drug lords run it and you have to have guts to stand up and get rid of the scum. The problems can be fixed, but you have to start at the source which is NOT giving out OUR money and resources to illegals.

One that was born here a long time ago.

I read a piece last year that said most Mexicans nowadays do whatever it takes to look like a successful middle class American. They make sure to have two things besides all the food they need. That's a very nice vehicle and sharp, stylish clothes. Little else matters. What the house looks like or where it is is not important. My guess they were suckered into easy credit (before the depression hit) and are upside down in debt. I wonder if this is true because it makes sense. Up to 15 years ago most drove cars they could afford. Then all of a sudden it seemed like they were all rich. I know everyone can't be so it must be credit. Too much debt is bad and I wonder if they know understand that. I think that's why many Americans are sinking. They stopped using credit. I know I did, payments are harder to make every month.

I have to say I have had this phone service from Walmart and it is the greatest phone NO CONTRACT $45.00 per month I can call who ever I want, everything is unlimited even the web and texting. They don't have the cutest phones right now but, who cares. Ask your phone company if they can beat it. We had At&t the best they could do is $60 unlimited calling no texting or internet. and for only one phone. Check it out I hate being forced in contracts! The only catch is you have to buy your phone and they cost anywhere from 30.00- 300.00 (this is the cool one) However do the math you'll still save money in the long run.

Hello, wow i have been reading all of these postings on Hispanics,I want to share a story, i am a Hispanic man, and i have lived here in Yakima for 13 years.i am very legal not to sound like i am hating on my own race but i have a ton of Hispanic friends in this town ,they are most on welfare and a lot of them do work in orchards,i will say that most of all my friends drive very nice cars and live pretty darn good, and i am not joking about this.ok i know what they are doing and i do know that they have lied to welfare in order to collect, in fact one of by best friends yes she is Hispanic gets over 700.00 a month in food stamps.ok now listen , i can understand the hatred that some of you feel, sometimes i walk into a friends house and i think man if you get caught your in deep shit, just simply because of new things they have and i am saying nice expensive things , i am not a race hater but i love where i live and i really dont like what i have been seeing from Hispanics.including my friends, i work at a food bank here in town, the funny thing is even my friends that get so much from welfare come here including my friend that gets over 700.00 a month in stamps. i asked her why are you here.half of your food you get you just throw away or give to your dog. she said ya i know.it is just sad. we dont really see to many of you white people here though maybe 4 or 5 whites to every 50 mexicans. anyhow all i can say is i hope something does change and maybe if enough people complain it will.thanks

US Cellular Phone suck - but coverage great (Yaquima)

I've had really good luck with US Cellular. I can get calls out in the mountains many times with no problem. Only downside with them is lame phones. That, and the phones they do have can't take HUMIDITY of any kind, including (according to the salesperson and directions) being in a bathroom, shirt pocket, outside when it's raining, or Texas. The "water dot" turns red and that voids the warranty. Then they tell you that you have to buy a new phone. Boo frickin hoo. I understand it if the phone falls in the toilet - but a SHIRT POCKET???

Unless you are a warhoop or some welfare rat with a connection to warhoops or the Federal Govt, where you can get nearly free cell phone usage ($30.00 a year) there is no satelite link for the rest of us.

The last time I visited Rants and Raves was probably late 2008 or early 2009. There were a few anti-Mexican diatribes back then. I visited last Friday and the hatred level has spiked dramatically. I've lived in Yakima for 20 years. I didn't know I was an undesirable until I moved here. As consumed as some of them are, I think they're mostly frightened by the current economic and political mess we're in. Not being able to provide for the needs of those people who depend on you, well, it's scary to think about. If you can't feed your kids, what do you do? How terrifying must it be for a father to conceal his own fear when confronting the forelorn eyes of his little kids. They don't have to say anything. "Can I have some more?", doesn't have to be said out loud in order to rip out a father's heart. Why don't I have a coat is a different question than please daddy can I have a coat? The color of the interpleader's eyes isn't the thing I am concerned about, but it's the questions those eyes are asking. It's the fear in those eyes. Hunger and fear can be seen in blue eyes as easily as it can be seen in brown eyes. My guess is that the inability to do anything about their children's hunger and fear, incites hatred against the parents of "other" children. I don't even think it's necessary or helpful in a forum like this to debate the factual basis of who is or is not "entitled" to benefits from the government. How far back in time do we go in deciding who should get what? How much should the chosen get and when should they get it? It can not be based on whose grandfather was here first. What's the tiebreaker? I like reading about history and politics. I'm particularly interested in military history. Look genius, I don't set the standards for language but it does not take a degree in rocket science to know that in society hateful, offensive, insulting language are not acceptable you know, the words like: beaner, spic, messican, nigger, bitch, faggot and so on. Did I set the standard? no.

YOU know such language is not right, you KNOW IT - No one has to tell you.

This is just getting ridiculous! I posted "is everyone afraid to post in here anymore" or something like that. It got flagged. I posted "out of curiosity, why did you flag this post: 'is everyone afraid to post in here anymore'. I was sincere, I was honestly asking why that got flagged. I really really wanted to know since there is nothing offensive in that! I was asking YOU FLAGGER why! So what are YOUR standards of this board? What exactly is it you WANT? I have asked you several times before and just keep getting flagged for it. So are you a coward? Are you so immature that you flag just because? I really want to know.
Did you know?

•2 pounds baby white or yellow potatoes, halved
•4 small onions, sliced into 1/2-inch-thick wedges
•8-10 cloves garlic, crushed
•1/2-2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), divided
•Salt and pepper
•1 pound trimmed green beans or asparagus, halved
•1 pint grape or cherry tomatoes
•1/2 cup black pitted Nicoise olives
•8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
•1 shallot, coarsely chopped
•A small handful of sage leaves
•A small handful of tarragon
•A couple sprigs fresh marjoram or 2 teaspoons dried
•1 cup flat leaf parsley, loosely packed
•2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
•4 cups arugula
•1 baguette
PreparationPre-heat the oven to 450˚F.

Place the potatoes, onions and crushed garlic in a bowl and toss with just enough EVOO to coat, a couple of tablespoons. Season liberally with salt and pepper, then place on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Roast for 45 minutes, turning once.

Place the green beans or asparagus in a bowl with the tomatoes and pitted olives; dress with a little EVOO, salt and pepper and place on a baking sheet. Roast for 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat a cast iron skillet or griddle or grill pan over medium-high heat. Coat the chicken lightly in EVOO and season with salt and pepper. Cook the chicken for 12 minutes, turning once, then thinly slice on an angle.

While the chicken cooks, place the shallot, herbs and mustard in a food processor and season with salt and pepper. Pulse-chop to finely chop the mixture, then stream in about 1/4-1/3 cup EVOO to form a pesto-like sauce. Scrape the sauce into a large, shallow bowl.

Pile the roasted vegetables, potatoes, onion, tomatoes, olives and arugula into a bowl. Top the salad with sliced chicken and serve with a crusty baguette.

1/4 tsp all natural liquid smoke
1/2 cup dark amber maple syrup
2 tBsp cider vinegar

bring to boil and reduce over high heat stirring constantly for 2 min's. remove from heat.

this is good for salmon:

s&p salmon and with old bay seasoning if u have it
heat EVOO, cook salmon top side down 3-4 min's,
flip and pour maple syrup glaze over top and place under broiler approx 3 min's to carmelize glaze
Oh WOW

1 1/2 pound beef tenderloin fillet
salt and pepper
3 tBsp butter, divided
2 tBsp flour
2 cup0s beef consume
2 tsp dijon mustard (can use honey mustard)
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tBsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 small onion, sliced
1 pound egg noodles, cooked

slice meat into 1/2" thick 2" long thin strips and season with s&p, freeze
heat skillet med heat melt 2 tBsp butter and cook with flour 1 minute. whisk in consumme. thicken 1 min. stir in mustard and sour cream., thicken 2-3 min's. remove from heat and season with s&p.

heat 2nd skillet high heat. add 1 tBsp EVOO and 1 tBsp butter, then add meat, then onion. heat on high, brown both sides 3-4 min's total.

arrange meat on bed of noodles and add sauce.
